Yeah, finding sticks will no longer be a problem. And while it isn't necessary to build fires yet (it probably will be when being wet increases the risk of you getting sick and fires can dry clothes), you can hunt and cook meat on them in 0.45.

Impression of Standalone (from a DayZ Mod Veteran)
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to chrismgtis (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
It seems 1 post driveby trollers enjoy reviving this thread now and again without having anything to contribute. -
Not to mention that axes are really useful for chopping wood, sticks, ashwood sticks, all necessary items for the real survivalist.

While rice does indeed provide more energy than beans, it does also give you minus in hydration. This is not that big a deal atm when you can just go drink from any pond or puddle of water you stumble upon, but it will eventually be a problem when polluted water is implemented. Beans, spaghetti and especially peaches adds to both energy and hydration and are therefore overall much more efficient foods and will continue to be so. And then of course there is the historical reason for the beans thing as outlined by others above.

It is not a lie. Deliberate character wipes, which is what the OP asked about, is only currently being done on experimental on a regular basis and cannot be performed by server admins. What you experienced is none of that. I have a sneaky suspicion that most "character wipes" on stable is actually due to unlucky logout situations. Remember no place is 100% safe to logout in. You could have been wasted by another player or a zombie. Secondly, sometimes there are short disconnections to the character database, if so a message will appear on the server when you log in that that is the case and you will indeed be a newspawn. However that message also contains the advice that you should log out and rejoin a server. If the problem persists then you should take a short break and log in at a later time when there is a connection to the database again. If you ignore this advice your new character will eventually be saved over your old character and the fault of the character wipe is entirely your own.

Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but all characters have been reset on experimental. That is also the way of the experimental.

Removing spawns is making this game bad
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
The poll really needs an "Other" option. -
They are working on it.

Removing spawns is making this game bad
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Except for the fact that I really hope most of the items you mention will never be in SA vanilla, loot dispersion is in no way balanced yet. When I am talking incentive, I am talking about the amount of unlooted places inland as compared to the coast (and other spawns, since there is a lot of inland spawns currently), where most valuable places will have been looted already. They have already introduced chopper crashes in experimental, and they will be the only places to get m4s from now on. -
Removing spawns is making this game bad
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
I really don't get the logic of your argument here. There is every incentive to run off the coast because you can get everything very easily within a short period of time if you do so. What better incentive could there be? -
Zombies in buildings and upper floors?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to TonyMahony's topic in New Player Discussion
It is a rare occurrence but there has always been zombies that was able to climb stairs to the upper floor. Usually they fall through the stairs, but sometimes they are very lucky and don't. Always a surprising moment when that occurs, but it has been happening on occasion since I started playing (December). -
vers 0.33.114926 (February 7) and 0.43.116251 (March 19) were both released on Wednesdays as well. That makes 3 Wednesday releases so far, and there really haven't been that many stable updates in total since December (7 or so including the hotfixes?), so this makes Wednesday releases almost as frequent as Friday releases.

Excessive leg breaking ? (Experimental Build)
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Kryoten's topic in General Discussion
I haven't broken my leg in the current exp build either, except for one time and that was because I was shot. -
DayZ SA still much more laggy than anything else I play
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to SomeCallMeNomad (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The rubberbanding in exp has nothing to do with desync though. -
Stable 0.44 was pushed on a Wednesday (April 23).

I found one of those videos featuring the zombie eating animation (around 0:10):

What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Here is another recording of a hacker stealing stuff from other (far away) players inventory (around the 2.30 min mark): http://www.twitch.tv/remguru/c/4465723 -
Can you elaborate on why you think the want of one feature should automatically exclude the other? Personally I say bring on all those features you mention, but I am curious to know why you are so adamant in thinking it is all of them or none of them, or more precisely why you think pooping to be such a big problem that you think such other features should be added before that.

The 'no weapons/friendly' experiment (surprising results)
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to manbearpig's topic in Gallery
While I am sure I would have enjoyed very much to have been there I am afraid it wasn't me. Since the patch that disconnected the steam name from the dayz character I have used a series of random silly names (current one subject to change soon is "Cannery"). -
This thread was started on account of the information about those models (as well as the pooping animation linked somewhere as well), so no, this thread is not the reason.
-
That is really the ultimate non-response to end them all, isn't it? "You don't want spaceships and laserguns in the game? I don't care. Stop telling me how to play this game".
-
Do you have a link for that?
