Full auto weapons have nothing to do with Cernarus atmosphere, nor survival lifestyle
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to lucianpin's topic in General Discussion
Of course full auto weapons have their place in Dayz, especially in a place like Chernarus where there would most likely be quite a few AKs lying around. Ammo however should be a problem, something it isn't currently. Most videos I see of people using military grade gear has almost always the 75 round mags (often several) and a handful of extra mags, or a handful of 60 round mags for the M4. This is something I can live with during alpha phase, but I really hope it isn't planned to stay that way upon release. In a post apocalyptic setting ammo should be so scarce that you would consider yourself a god among men if you found enough for a 30 round mag. -
So you do not consider the fact that not only is one mag extremely difficult to find compared to mosin ammo, two mags is almost impossible if you really want them. But not only that, if you should be so extremely lucky to find 2 mags, as soon as you have spend those 10 rounds, you will have difficulty finding extra ammo to reload them with. Again, this is not a problem with the mosin. Still you claim that the CR is better because itis slightly faster to reload by exchanging a mag than manually reloading 5 rounds? It may be, but the scenario you propose for the CR is close to utopia. As such I do not see how the CR is better than the mosin in this calculation at all.
-
It isn't "totally wrong". You can find the 5 round mags, and you can find the SKS stripper clips with 10 rounds at civilian spawns. But they are both still very rare, and compared to the fact that you can pick up a mosin and almost unlimited amount of rounds at the same places (the ammo spawns in boxes of 20 or in random piles in all civilian weapon spawns), or a Blaze, or a repeater, the incentive to use this gun is not great. And how is CR with mag better than mosin? You can apply scopes to mosin, it holds 5 rounds without the need of finding a mag, the ammo can be found everywhere, it has high damage.
-
Just the fact that the ammo for it rarely spawns outside military locations (not to mention the whole magazine issue), makes this gun pretty worthless compared to other "civilian" spawn guns in my view.
-
Nice one. I bet they got some friendly fire going on at that last shooting.

That is because it is not a school. A school is currently in development: http://imgur.com/a/4Yjqq.

The game is about player interaction in a zombie infested apocalyptic world. The fact that zombies are finally going to have some sort of impact on player interaction doesn't mean that player interaction will stop. Just as when they introduce diseases, more complicated wounding systems and other things that will make surviving the environment more difficult, will not mean the end of player interaction. In fact I wager it will make player interaction a lot more interesting. I am not of the opinion that more zombies (or less food, more diseases whatever) will mean the end of pvp, far from it. But it will occur on different premises, hopefully making it more complicated and thus forcing the player to give a lot more thought to his actions than they currently do.

What can be done about ghosting on public servers?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to gankaskon's topic in General Discussion
How does it force players to spend more money? I am genuinely curious about that. -
genuinely annoyed - outhouse problems
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Wookieenoob's topic in General Discussion
Probably not a 5 min animation, but something shorter will do. In fact they already made an animation and designed some shit. I refer you to this thread where the subject has been discussed in some depth and where there are clips of the animation and screenshots of the feces. -
That video was put on Youtube in September 2014. Crawler zombies has since been (temporarily?) removed from the game. They are currently doing a complete overhaul of zombies (AI, animations, skins, numbers etc etc), so I am sure various forms of crawling, jumping or whatever zombies will be reintroduced to the game in due time.

"Do you wanna come in here, I am gonna run out of ammo now". :D

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
This animation is actually in the game. Has been for quite a while. -
Thoughts on the new eating and drinking system?
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
I haven't noticed anything specially strange with the current system. The "full" while either being thirsty or hungry issue has been in the game for quite some time, it doesn't seem to have changed much in this build. With the characters I have played in .54 I have been perfectly capable of getting light grean hydrated and energised with no problems regarding getting overfed. Of course the system needs tweaks, and will probably play out differently in beta/release, but for now it seems to be functional. The only thing I have an issue with currently is that now that it plays the drinking animation with each sip from pools and fountains it takes forever to get hydrated, especially when you spawn, because the 20-30 drinks you need to get there has to play out separately. -
I still haven't found a single tent as loot spawn, much less a tent set up as someones camp.

So if we have a FN trombone now......
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Heatofbattle's topic in General Discussion
Currently guns only degrade if the containers in which they are placed recieves damage. I am quite sure that the current system is placeholder and that gun wear will soon be introduced, as well as the possibility of finding guns as loot spawns in other states of wear than pristine. -
The fps issues are most likely connected to the current memory leak going on in the game, and as such has nothing to do with your hardware. Hopefully it will be back to previous standards when they come up with a fix for the 0.54 bug.

Mosquito/Nat/Fly Sounds. - TAKE THEM OUT.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Harmony's topic in General Discussion
The whole motion sickness issue is something I am highly skeptical of, as it does seem to be casually thrown around a lot in defence of certain feature settings in this game we should not get into here. However, even if the motion sickness claim is true, it is in no way comparable to the condition of having a phobia of mosquitos. -
Mosquito/Nat/Fly Sounds. - TAKE THEM OUT.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Harmony's topic in General Discussion
But it is not similar to a graphical issue. A graphical issue is when something is not working as intended, the ambient sounds are working as intended. It is your personal issue, and frankly if you can't deal with that issue yourself, it seems a bit entitled of you to expect that the game and everyone playing it should accomodate to them, rather than you yourself facing the consequences and either deal with the problem in some way or another (resolve the issue or turn down main volume) or simply refrain from playing the game. -
Mosquito/Nat/Fly Sounds. - TAKE THEM OUT.
BadAsh (DayZ) replied to Harmony's topic in General Discussion
No. Sorry for your condition, but those sounds are part of the environment of the game. Ambient sounds should be the same for all, like foilage and grass should (ideally) be the same for everyone. Every player should be subjected to the same environment. What they do in that environment is completely up to the individual, but not how that environment is put together. If you freak out on account of mosquito sounds, so be it, then it is part of how your character interacts in that environment, like some people would freak out of over darkness, confined spaces, water and similar things that are all an integral part of the game environment. -

I have a phobia of clanging metal gates. Ever since they added that ambient sound I have been unable to play Dayz, so please think of the children and remove that sound.- 55 replies

It is not in the 0.54 patch notes, and as mentioned you were able to kill yourself with stone knife in 0.53.
-
Suicide with stone knife did work in 0.53. From the amount of weapons reported not working with suicide in this thread, it seems to be a general 0.54 bug.
-
It is a confirmed bug. Nothing for you to do about it but go vote in the bug feedback tracker.

It is indeed pretty funny to watch, I have even experienced zombies kill a deer for me when I didn't have any gun to shoot it with and when I was close to starvation. I repaid their kindness by cleaving their skulls with my axe. This chasing behaviour is not a new thing though, they have been doing it since wildlife was introduced to the game.

Heh, good question. Even if OP had done that, it would only be 13 months, and almost to the date, since SA was released December 16 2013.
