Character Value and Progression
Damnyourdeadman replied to stophboy7's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hmmm...nah let's keep things as they are concerning the proficency levels. Also i propose this one, let's keep it realistic. If our player wishes to mass-manufacture a certain item,(for example a rifle) he should have the machinery and the technology behind it to make it possible.I want a rifle,so i first need to smelt the metal into the rifle pieces,to do that i need equipment and machinery,i need to find the required equipment needed to smelt my weapon,or create from scratch or fix it if it is already broken.Let's make it hard so there are not many people that have achived that,so there is balance without having a crafting system ;) What do you think? -
Some proposal for the game- a new point of sight maybe.

It is up to the individual player to repopulate Chernarus. That means that yes, currently there are no organizations due to the apocalypse. It's up to the individual players to form their organization and build bases ets,if they wish.Stuff like base building and so-on will be implemented later on.If you want a sanctuary, make one with your friends, for other people ;) Also as stated many times in the past,we (the survivors) are immune to the diesease. So there is no need to treat any infections, and have the danger of dieing. -
Yeah but both the M4 and the Mosin are sharing inventory space (backpack or whatever storage room) right? Or do you have the mosin on your hands without it taking space on your backpack?

Blindfolds, smoking and playing dead!

You can already do that bonus :P But no,let's make it a little harder shall we?Let's find rags and then bathe them in chloroform. Chloroform is a wonderfull chemical which when inhaled renders your victim unconcious. So if you infuse rags with chloroform you can can transport them safely to your base unconcious. It's a win-win situation. Edit:Darn,i totally forgot about the burlap sacks :P -
If you equip the weapon in your hands only, and not place it in your inventory,it will not save. You can only carry it around.
-
Yeah,it's a good idea. But they should be the slowest means of transport in the game besides a bicycle.

To read all the books i find ^^ But seriously,i really love that feature,i was low on blood and i decided not to log out, instead let it heal. So i took my time reading the New Testement. Well,it's a fun game,in which i have freedom to do as i please with absolutely no restrictions.Just pure gameplay and exploring. Now,i admit i don't play alot, because not alot are in the game yet,and i am reserving myself for the later patches/fixes.
-
Oh....my bad then  Thanks for the correction. (and yes you are right)

People wrote down racist messages and as a result they intentionally removed that option for the time beign.
-
I highly doubt that they would make that happen :/ They work based on providing as much realism as possible. What we can suggest though is,if your friend hs a radio-walkie talkie and you have one, there should be an option command like -give position coordinates, once your friend accepts,a message with the player coordinates will show, and you should be able to find it with your map and track down you friend.
-
Your ideas are all part of future patches i presume. You will be able to make whole structures, baricating would be the least you could do. Maybe you will see player written books, who knows? :)
-
You must be talking about CPR techinque. Yes,it would be cool to have that with less efectiveness as you stated above :) I'm suprised noone else suggested it before....
-
What an awesome idea! Maybe have notes such as (community looking for survivors recruting at...) Also it would mean the start of a basic reputation system (like advertising in real life)
-
You will never see a name floating over the head of survivors. Given this logic, you will never be able to see classes either. Edit:If you see for example a group of players in a distance all wearing red bandanas, you will know that they are the red-bandana bandits only because you heard of them/killed you in the past.
-
We are all survivors and the same,But everyone reacts unique in a given situation.Don't categorize players due to their behaviour. They can be what they want, and have the freedom to change their ways in time. The lack of restrictions is basiclly the essence of why this game is such a huge success among sandbox games.Do not place restrictions on individual player freedom with classes-crafting skills etc. From my point of view,it's a no go.

I stick on the most populated servers,i change only if: A:Server's full B:Server's low on population C:Massive lag on the server

Maybe you are right,it would be more fun if we found m4s in civilian houses. But it would definetelly not be reallistic. Why would a civilian carry an m4 in his house? Dayz is going by the book,it's a zombie survival simulator,so it has to be based on reason and not fun-factor.

It would be funny if we see theese graves on a concrete floor...just saying. Add a function where the undead can be attracted by the player corpse is a must, and also make it possible for them to destroy a corpse (gorge it up),but i don't think that would be accepted, because all the gear would be lost too or completely broken. Edit:Maybe make coffin as a player made item, put the dead corpse inside and then take it to the desired location.Left click on the coffin and click the feature "set up grave",and then your grave like structure appears, with the corpse's name. Also make it do-able for players to leave notes-items(flowers,candles or anything else) inside them.If a player wishes simply to get rid of a body,I say give the option to burn it.The smoke will attract other players, and possibly zombies.
-
My good sir,the lag issue (especially in towns-cities) is a common problem that we all share, and it's already planned to fix in the to-do list next patches. Other than that you will have to befriend the idea that your charachter-or gear are not to be attached to. This is what makes Dayz.Grats on your first post.

So...you want to be able to strip people and force-feed them your....banana? I see what you did there...
-
Bandit? Or just playing the game?
Damnyourdeadman replied to DirtyscumbagLith's topic in General Discussion
Hungry players don't go to the Airfields :P There are literally a ton of food scattered among the civilian houses.(Away from the milatary buildings) -
Walkie-talkies aka radio communication is part of the future updates. Concerning iphones and every other type of cellphone,in a zombie apocalupse they are preety uselles. Even if you have electricity to recharge your phone,i suspect that the company providers will be on a long break due to the apocalypse. The only thing you could do with them,is use the camera and play Angry birds. Edit:I saw the title is about ipods, and not iphones....Ignore my above text.

I love the fact that drones are suggested, but not survailiance cameras :P Other than that,i find it a very good idea.Maybe in the future scavaging in Dayz will be only the beggining. Keep in mind that there is a possibility that we will see massive player made communities occuping the Chernarus landscape some of them capable of manufaturing quality items with the right resources. If we have player made cities, and the technology anything is possible.
