It's a bug. Probably, along the lines of desync and a survivor's high elevation, game registers the survivor like he's falling, thus the broken legs.. It's the primary cause of many insta-deaths without real explanation that had many players baffled likewise yourself.
-
Along with the recent implementation of the V3S truck,we witnessed gas canisters being introduced to the loot spawns. While their primary purpose as containers to successfully transport and store fuel, additional mechanics can increase and compliment their usefulness. -Gasoline Trails For all the GTA V players out there, you know exactly what i'm talking about. Pouring gasoline on a straight line and then igniting it,thus creating a fire trail. An explosive object at the end of it,can mean a serious death trap to unwary survivors/zombies. -Soaking Handcuffed Survivors With Gasoline While the survivor is restrained, have the ability to soak him whole in gasoline. This can drive players to some of the most interesting social interactions with each other. -Burning Corpses With Gasoline Let's face it,the "hide body" mechanic was never realistic. Instead we could implement the ability to soak a corpse on gasoline, igniting it, burning it away to thin air with all the clothes/gear it used to contain. -Flamethrowers When you think gasoline and the apocalypse,a flamethrower is definitely the first thing that come to mind. Either player crafted or not,it is one the best weapons to tackle the large hordes of the infected.

You mean like, having the choice of filling the container either with water or fuel? That is an awesome idea! :)
-
That's maybe the case for large open areas. But,just imagine how deadly gasoline trails can be inside secluded areas like the corridors and rooms of an apartment building.

Objects and their impact on everything - effects detached from us players
Damnyourdeadman replied to joe_mcentire's topic in General Discussion
I like it too but...can it be done? I mean in order to burn items close to a heat source,it's prerequisite to impement some sort of heat waves mechanic. This includes,an item temperature mechanic (temperature degration rate/resistance/etc) that offers unique variables depending on material, size and heat source temperature. -
fraction, domestic currency, infected and artificial intelligence, experienced survivors or how to see the traces of the enemy!
Damnyourdeadman replied to ilooli's topic in Suggestions
^That's me trying to read your post. Firstly,in the world of DayZ nothing is scripted. Except the infected, all other npcs have no place in game. Considering the game,it's heavily based on realism. If you wish to make or join a community, you have to decide on what premise you'll run it. For all i care you can even be a crash landed Martian that got himself trapped in Chernarus if you choose to. But giving premade context to the game is a against DayZ's mentallity. -
My guess is that, even if there were more zombies and less ammo...people would still be using their fireaxe instead of a firearm. :P What i'm saying is,that almost nobody's wasting ammo on zombies in the first place and would continue to do so even if the spawns were decreased.

Suggestion: the game does not tell you whether or not you are "Dead" or "Unconscious"
Damnyourdeadman replied to cheeseburger8's topic in Suggestions
If there is no way to tell death from uncosciounsess, then how are we supposed to know whether we should hit the "respawn" button? -
Another way to aquire water,i suggest we implement a system that allows the player the collect drinkable rainwater. In the apocalybe water would be scarce and a rain would be like a heaven's gift. What do you think? Or even make this idea, larger scale, having large open tanks filling up with rainwater.
-
How about fire? Maybe we could work out a system that allows the player to soak a body in gasoline and igniting it. The body could burn for like ((3-6)) mins, rendering everything in thin ash. The "hide body" could function along with a shovel, the ground could form like a small bump and gear condition would rapidly degrade their value depending on the time left underground. But still, giving a chance to be excavated again nevertheless.

Such prophetic words!!! :P

The development team has already made clear their intentions on implementing hostile animal AI. Plans are underway, thees are footage of the upcoming bear and wolf models leaked from the DayZ memory files. However...i seriously doubt you would find any pumas in Cherno.

Hicks recently made an intreasting tweet about giving the ability to modders making their own dynamic events. However, theese kind of events are likely to be in the juristriction of the individual server owner,so they will not be global across all servers. Intreasting tid bit of info - When completed, the dynamic event system will allow modders to create their own custom events to be triggered. — Brian Hicks (@Hicks_206) October 8, 2014

Things that make me wonder about the whole DayZ deal and idea/direction of the game in general.
Damnyourdeadman replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
Dude, seriously, would you expect a guy with over 7000 posts under his belt making pointless threads without doing research beforehand? In the DayZ roadmap ( http://steamcommunity.com/app/221100/discussions/0/558751813456588466/ ) there is no mention of planned work for the enviroment. The Alpha is the right time to introduce such changes. If the devs were planning on doing so,work would have already been underway. Before you pass judgment,i suggest reading the whole post first,if you fail to do so,you are in danger of providing unconstructive feedback. -

Good combat system with the zombies.
Damnyourdeadman replied to SuppressionX2Q's topic in Suggestions
Yes,you are correct, but on the other hand you can't deny the fact that you were genuinely scared of zombies grabbing you,so you kept your distances. Meanwhile,in DayZ the bitch-slapping zombies have 0 fear factor.Whatever the means, bringing back the horror element in the game is a good thing imo. -
Good combat system with the zombies.
Damnyourdeadman replied to SuppressionX2Q's topic in Suggestions
I said it before and i will say it again... The perfect zombie combat is introduced in State of Decay. If every concept of this mechanic is copy pasted from there to DayZ none will ever complain again. -
Adding a "Broken" condition before Ruined...?
Damnyourdeadman replied to NagsterTheGangster's topic in Suggestions
It makes perfect sense, because even a pristine items can be broken. Like for example,i bought a brand new cellphone the other day,but it had a broken receiver and couldn't connect to the network. The phone itself was in a perfect condition, despite not beign able to recieve/make calls. I gave it away for reapairs and the next day i got it back functioning normaly. -
Recently we had the pleasure of beign introduced to the wonderfull world of temperature and it's effects on the survivor's health. This gave us a secondary reason on why should we start a fire besides cooking. Concerning fireplaces,i see a simple system that when a survivor is close to the fire, his temperature increases. What i had in mind was take this system one step furter and implement heat waves. The idea is,that a heat source will produce heat waves, that by in turn some will be absorbed by a surface and some bounce back on the enivroroment. (Something in relation with dynamic lighting) That way we can increase the average temperature on enclosed spaces such as building, tents, caves, etc. Items close to the heat source can also be affected by the heat waves and possibly burn when extremly close. People with thermal scopes can pick up thermal traces and track down the location with increased heat.

will other ATV's/small vehicles be added besides 4-wheelers and motorcycles?
Damnyourdeadman replied to d.walker43's topic in General Discussion
It would be awesome if some of the sidecars and bikes spawn seperatly, making you look and attach them together with tools. Now,if i were to make a suggestion of a small vechicle,i would propably suggest the Piaggio Ape.Their production year, dates back to 1948. -
Recently I had the need to talk about the enviroment in DayZ. Even from the mod days, everything in the world feels static, from trash cans to furniture inside the houses. We know for a fact that physics in DayZ always had a very insignificant role. In your opinion, what changes could be implmented,in order to make Chernarus more vivid and alive?

I wouldn't mind if among other things,we could have clothing loot on zombies. The problem is all the people screaming "Mah immerzion" when all are textured/clothed the same. What i mean is,it's hard to visually represent different clothing items on zombies without taking away some of the immersion. To introduce such a mechanic succesfully, they would need to retexture zombies naked(underwear only),and have them spawn with random clothing(t-shits,jeans,jackets etc) equipped on them. That way no zombie will be copy/pasted,but on the other hand imo,i think it would put a huge strain on server performance.

Yep,lucky you hotcakes. Brass nuckles are in the gamefiles since the experimental update. :)

Have you ever found yourself in the position of biting an apple only to find an uninvited guest inside? I know i have, surely some of you, have shared this experience as well. It's common knowledge that worms love fruit, the more decayed(rotten) it is,the higher the chance of finding one. In this spirit,my suggestion to the community would be,have a certain percentage chance of finding worms in fruit. The more rotten/damaged it is,the higher the chance for the fruit to contain one.
-
It's not as pointless as you think. Rotten fruit may prove usefull to the average fisherman for finding bait,if he dosen't own a shovel or hoe. I didn't randomly pick this suggestion from the top of my head,it serves a gameplay purpose.
