anyone wondering why firefights are shit
Damnyourdeadman replied to bloobarry's topic in General Discussion
If you actually took your time to post this as a description below your screenshot, maybe that would enforce you attempt to get your point across. Apart of this, the low fps is common knowledge and occurs as the game is unoptimized. -
One of the features i was most hyped about, was world containers. This feature was supposedly planned for implementation in the end of Q2-2014 according to the old DayZ roadmap. It was a WIP but was long forgotten without a trace for some reason. However checking upon the new 2015 roadmap there is no mention of them anywhere. So...i kinda wonder, are they planned for sometime in the future,or was their implementation proved not feasible? Edit:Minor grammar and title changes.

Anyone Remember World Containers?

Yeah,i saw that too, very exciting news! :D Really can't wait! I really don't know... After searching google for some time i came up with no explanation whatsoever. One possible assumption is that the light went through the model thus it's implementation was put on hold until the new renderer goes live. -
While your ideas are indeed good,i really doubt that the majority of them if implemented, would push player interaction. Allow me to expand on this. 1. Increase the zombie numbers tenfold and make them deadly predators,so that even a single one if close can easily knock you down and overpower you. That way survival would be made almost impossibly hard without relying to stealth and survivors would band together to face their primary antagonist. 2. Implement overpowered weaponry that requires 2 or more people to set up. For example to set up a mortar, requires one survivor to carry the base and the other the shaft (backpack slot is lost). In the same principle have 50cal machine guns where in order to set it up,one survivor would carry the weapon and the other the tripod in expense of their backpack slot. 3.Implement a variety of professions. For example care taking - construction - mechanic. - Caretakers can perform special actions. From first aid and skinning to building farms and tend to livestock . - Construction oriented can construct things. From furniture and tents to houses and underground facilites - Mechanics can repair and create machinery. From crafted explosives, and basic repairs,to armored weaponized vehicles and machinery from scratch. Have your picked skill 50% from capped and place no restrictions if you desire to advance in something unrelated to your profession. This system is sure to make the individual survivor worthy and people will have to rely more on each another.

Hey guys,i was thinking... We are able to search chicken coops to find feathers for arrows. What would stop us from adding a certain percentage chance to find eggs as well? Add them in a frying pan, cook them over the campfire and along with some tactical bacon, create the ultimate breakfast. :D

Husiissihshsh wipsnake....hahahahaha,i can't breathe!

Seriously, the lack of food, water medicine and safety wouldn't bother me that much. However getting myself in that kind of situation with not a single sheet of toilet paper would really push my buttons. :P

Lol,dude, have you tried eating eggs and beans at the same time? My farts would probably alert every infected in a 100m radius. xD

In my book, best endgame for DayZ rather than vehicles and base building, would be electricity. If it was up to me,i would make it so that access to advanced actions, crafting and maintenance, are only achieved by the help of a generator. So in return the valuable fuel resources to keep them running would become a mean of currency among survivors. Be it to run your electric fence, your installed cctv circuit, your kitchen, fridge, your welding gear to fully repair and upgrade your vehicle,or to make advanced building a generator should be essential and your ticket to "luxury".

Tactical Apron! Hell yeah! :D

My guess is that cooking is still in it's basic form. For the time being we can only prepare meat and fish. But frankly, the way the game set up currently, you don't really need to resort to hunting/fishing and cooking. Buildings offer a surplus of canned goods that can keep you "stuffed" for years.

We have yet to see base building being implemented,hell...we haven't even seen extensive barricading either Don't you think it's a bit too early asking for underground bases when we haven't gone past even the basic barricading feature? Here's a reason to get your hopes up! :) I'm sure you are aware that in the latest military base addition devs included an underground bunker. That would very much mean, that underground areas could be very plausible in the future. -

I kinda hope so...it would be awesome if they could take their time for some sort of an announcement in regards to this. There was no mention of it,not even a tiny bit piece of info in the last past months. Even the new roadmap doesn't include it among the other planned features. -

It's not that hard, maybe have a padlock item ingame, allowing to lock the container. Upon locking, the container becomes player claimed storage -simple. I believe containers will become more essential in the future along with the upcoming barricading - basebuilding and item degration features. -

Damnyourdeadman replied to Damnyourdeadman's topic in General Discussion
Well, the problem is in defining which containers should items respawn. Item respawn is essential, because Chernarus is in danger of becoming loot-clean. Marking a container for personal use in some way, does not allow further loot respawn, and makes the specific deposited loot persistent upon server restart. -

The question is thought, how are they going to implement it. I see 2 ways this can be possible. 1- Have the loot spawning on every container server calculates everything,no need for a player trigger, persistance is achived if a player "claims" the container, all the unclaimed containers reset and have their loot randomized again upon server restart. 2-Interaction with the container triggers a percentage chance for X item to spawn.Already interacted containers reset at X amount of time, persistance is made possible only if a player "claims" the container. -

Oh! That's what they meant by that? Then,i agree with you,i wouldn't want a system like that. -

Damnyourdeadman replied to Damnyourdeadman's topic in General Discussion
Well,we can have the majority spawn inside containers and some on the ground, top of shelves or under beds/sofas. I don't see how that's a bad thing in regards to realism or gameplay value. Also the majority of loot can be arranged by their designated containers. Eg: Instead of programming lootspawns to buildings: Blue Cabin spawn-Orange-kiwi-aplle-etc We can have the configuered to containers instead: Fridge Container spawn-orange-kiwi-apple-etc It's something to organize loot spawns very effectively and possibly remove some strain from the server. -
Yeah, that would be pretty good actually! Bullet-belts are quite common among hunters.

Well yeah,it would be nice actually looting a coat from a wardrobe or an orange from a fridge rather picking everything from the floor. (as a primitive form) It would be double nice,if you decide to set up house and that wardrobe was persistent, allowing you personal storage after server restart. (as a more advanced form) Undoubtedly world containers is a great feature, and would enhance gameplay a lot. -
is DayZ the best FPS ever made?
Damnyourdeadman replied to Noble Savage's topic in General Discussion
You know what? :) On second look,i have a hunch that OP makes a smart trolling attempt, using reverse psychology. :) I may be wrong, but i think i detect subtle sarcasm hidden between these lines. It's either that or maybe i'm just looking way too much into it. :P -

Awesome idea, the best incentive to get people back in the game! Leather lingerie and g-strings! “( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)“
