For those complaining about development pace
lothix replied to Mdogg2005's topic in General Discussion
This game will be done in a few years. By then 95% of the people will lose interest. Then it will go on a huge steam sale and become popular again for a while. Development pace isn't going to magically change now. Perhaps in 6 months they could have more people hired and brought up to speed and development pace will start increasing. For content, rocket said he wants to see community contributions. Does anyone know how we could start contributing items, guns, etc? -
It went okay.

Why is it so hard to implement a logout timer?
lothix replied to apme123's topic in General Discussion
Yea, they've implemented a gas stove! -
Yea, placing more enterable buildings close together, combined with bad hidden surface removal in the engine is what made cities have such low FPS in SA. They will probably be forced to try to optimize it, at some point.

When will they implement vehicles/tents and higher population cap?

Probably some time this year. -
" does not expect that DayZ will reach beta status before the end of 2014."

Star Citizen looks impressive and everything they've showed so far looks high quality. But they are promising a playable alpha in 2014, I don't believe them at all. -
Keep re-entering until you spawn close to the place you want to be in. With Arma engine, this would probably be difficult to implement as well - high chance of glitched spawns.

No good reason. Would be simple to implement as well. Let people play how they want, if PvE servers are boring there won't be many of them. I personally would not play on a PvE server but PvE servers would be good for beginners to get used to mechanics of the game without as much frustration.

Characters will have to be server specific (or every server gets a private hive) in order to fix ghosting and loot hopping problems, there is no other way. All other solutions proposed won't solve these issues without making the game annoying to play. All of the issues with server specific characters mentioned above are much less important due to short lifespan of characters. They could implement some feature where you can move characters between servers once per X time, or Y times total.
