But read the above posts, do any of them sound like they are saying that it will be possible later once private hives are up? a few yes. But the vast majority are stating that Dean hall has explicitly stated that this WILL NEVER EVER HAPPEN. just read em. I wanna see what he wrote/said and I cant find it

Can you post a link to where one of the developers or Dean stated that there will never be PvE private server options in DayZ SA? Im not doubting it I just decided to google search for it, and could only find people talking about dean stating this, but I couldn't actually find Dean stating this.

you can try if you want to. --edit-- lets just assume for a moment that I did want to have a server where no one could shoot people. just for arguments sake. How does that effect you? Obviously you are not the type of person who is going to want to play on that server, so how does it effect you? Say I want to have my personal form of PvE server for my group of friends. How does that effect you? Obviously you are again not going to want to play on this server, so how does it effect you?

Don't assume you know me or my intentions. I have never stated even once that want people to be prevented from being able to harm other players. find that quote. apparently you have never played L4D because that game is an arcade dumbfest with no survival aspects, arcadish weapon handling and idiotic special zombies. IE absolutely nothing like DayZ Out of the 50 hours in SA so far, I have spent about 10 of those playing "PvE" (on low population PvP servers) my friends and I play quite happily on a server with no one else doing what we want. Those other 40 hours have been playing DayZ as the "hero" type killing bandits and helping newbs. I enjoy DayZ how it is meant to be played one hell of a lot. but I also see how absolutely awesome just trying to survive in this game would be thanks to its deep and sophisticated survival mechanics. that exist in NO OTHER GAME.

In your opinion it becomes pointless. If it was pointless then there would be no one asking for it. Just because you cannot see the enjoyment to be had doesn't mean others will not and do not.

PvE servers are not allowed at the moment because there is no way to separate them from the rest of the servers, helping to continue to server hopping culture that is building. That is why its expressly forbidden in server hosting at this stage.

Exactly, because it wont effect you. Read the comments in this thread, people are talking about permanently preventing this even after private hives come out. Why? because they have this delusion that it is going to ruin the game on servers outside of the private hive. I don't know how, and none have given an explanation. they just say it and say it loudly

Why cant everyone else have this opinion. I really cannot see how a private hive PvE server is going to destroy the game and the vision of Dean. Its not like suddenly every single server online will have no choice but to also switch to PvE because of one private hive PvE server or even 10 private hive PvE servers

I know its against it at the moment due to its early stage of development. but the Steam Page specifically lists modding as a feature

I think I will just wait until BI adds the required server options and admin abilities to allow people to setup private servers with this form of focus legally. Then I will go and play on those servers, you will play on yours and you will realise that all your bitching actually amounted to nothing and that you are enjoying the game you want to enjoy while I am enjoying the game I want to enjoy and neither of us are hindering the other. I have no shadow of doubt in my mind this will come around before the game is released as a final product. No doubt in my mind at all.

At the moment I agree its not (which is why I do it on the low pop servers and don't complain if a players kills me). I came in not to back up the OP with his problem with the server agreement. I came in in response to the number of people going on about how PvE should NEVER in the entire existence of DayZ be allowed. No Matter what. This mentality is entirely selfish. There are lots of people who genuinely want a PvE experience in DayZ when the game is finished. I really want it. and I don't want it to not happen because of all these people constantly screaming about how its going to ruin the game, even though a privately hived PvE will have no effect on other servers.

Right now, I play PvE by finding the lowest population server I can with my new bambi and PvE on that server as there is no one around to screw up the fun. I either wait till I die, or kill myself before returning to a "normal" style gameplay. Not a single of of these HONEST PvE players want anything more to let you do whatever you want on your normal servers while they do whatever they want on their PvE servers. they WANT to be completely separate and independent of your normal servers. People are complaining now (I assume) because firstly, the steam page does not make it in any way clear that this is a game focused on shooting people like in Call of Duty. The description makes it sound mostly like a PvE game. And secondly the current server population is playing like its Call of Duty.

The issue mainly is that 99% of the player base go around shouting that PvE is explicitly and ABSOLUTELY never ever going to happen. We all know private hives are coming and we all know private hives will allow true PvE servers without the downfall of moronic server hoppers using them as loot stations. There will be Normal Servers, PvP Servers, PvE Servers (and all manner of other custom setups) In all likelihood a server with a non standard set of rules will be forced to have a private hive to keep the normal servers true to their vision. So to everyone against PvE. Why do you have a problem with this? (Im not talking about now, im talking about once its possible) To the people who say go play a different game : Tell me a single game out there with the realism of survival that DayZ has, with an open world the size of DayZ, with the zombie count of DayZ and the simulated vehicles and weapons in DayZ? With First Person view? I know of none. State of Decay is an arcade game in 3rd person only, 7 Days to Die is unrealistic and like minecraft, The Dead Linger is unrealistic with shoddily put together worlds and terrible gunplay.
