I have an idea for helping with the KOS problem. Rocket should read.
punkvegita replied to Rzach's topic in General Discussion
Yea not really a valid fix, not that KOS should be fixed. Lets say I am a psychopath do I still get that stress? Anyways there shouldn't be any negative effects to being a bandit other than bad rep, If anything make a system where other ppl can lets say like your guy which will give you positive points, but to even do that they ll would have to be near you. -
Since the biggest threat in this game is ourselves it would only be natural that KOS is almost an instinct. You see a geared player and all the sudden civility goes out the window. I'm here to tell you guys today that it doesn't have to be like this, at least not all the time, like the title says there's a place and time for it. Now the ppl that should be doing the least KOS should in fact be the players that are the most geared, simply because they have everything to lose and not a lot to gain. PLACE HOT: By now most of you guys should be familiar with the hot zones in Chernoraus, these ares are KOS zones. Electrode: Now the only reason Electrode is a hot area is because it's so hectic, nobody wants to put there guards down even for a second, and it is what it is, don't expect to go here and not get KOSed. ( Note: ppl go to Electrode to pvp.) Cherno: Another big pvp city, lots of snipers and ppl camping rooftops, never a good sign. If you have to go through Cherno I would suggest following the coast where Bambies usually go through. *NW Airfield: This is where ppl with gear go to pvp. If you are unexperienced expect to die here without ever knowing where the shot came from. (Note: this is somewhat of endgame at the moment, go prepared and with friends that know what they're doing.) Military Bases: Military bases in general are pretty hostile, always go to these places with caution. Apartment Complex North of Balota and Cherno: maybe it's the altitude maybe it's those creepy apartments next to each other but this area tends to bring out the KOS in ppl. ( Watch out for snipers on top of the building) TIME Now this is probably the trickiest because at the end of the day your the deciding factor. My theory is if you see them first and your close enough to talk than try being civil first. Ex. I was in the radio prison and I see this guys walking outside, I tell him the deal. I got a gun pointed to all entrances, I let him know that he has nothing I want. If he wants to come in be my guest but guns on his back and if I see anything funny I won't hesitate to shoot. At this point he agreed and walked in with gun on his back. I make sure he has no friends and we just have a swell time. So when is the right time to not KOS? I would say when you have the clear advantage like in my story. And lets say for some reason he didn't trust me which i wouldn't blame him, I give them the option to just go the other way and I make sure I tell them if i see them again it means they re trying to kill me so I will KOS. I hope this lil guide will help and if anyone else has any suggestions on how to avoid KOS please post.

Guys I'm not saying ban or stop KOS at all, it's a fun part of the game, this topic is really about finding other ways to interact with each other, and if anyone has any cool stories of when they didn't KOS please share.

Press Vest ONLY for Streamers and Youtubers
punkvegita replied to atmaca (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I know guys it was just an idea and a pretty cool one at that. The way I see it though why wouldn't the streamers just go pick it up and have fun with it anyway, doesn't have to be exclusive for them to make it useful. That could be the thing for streamers and such. -
This was in a First Person Only Server: Ok so I just spawned make my way to electro, loot a fire house, grab myself a pistol and a magazine so it s nice and loaded. I believe I had on cargo pants so i had room for the pistol and 2 other things. I make my way over to the hospital, I think maybe on the third floor down at the end of the hallway i spot me a nice fire axe, as i bend down to pick it up I hear through the game channel "drop it." O shit I think I look back there's a guy with his Mosin pointed at my dome. I quickly ask " what do you want me to drop? I have nothing on me." He responds the axe. So I do what he asks knowing he has no idea about my loaded pistol in my pants. ( haha i said loaded pistols in me pants lol) So ok here we are me with nothing with my hands trying to figure out when to make my move when all the sudden we both hear zombie noises and right there I had to, I screamed out authentically " watch out there s a zombie behind you!!!" and to my surprise he actually looks back giving me enough time to pull my pistol out and get about 3 to 4 shots on him before he got one of. I died instantly not knowing what kind of damage I had put on him. To my luck I get the electro spawn I quickly run back and there we both are dead on the floor, my brother who watched the whole thing couldn't stop laughing cause things like that can only happen in dayz. So I'm sorry to that guy who I prob turned into a bandit because of my actions but that was too priceless. I guess we can all learn from this not to trust anyone who pretty much has nothing to lose lol.

I'm not here to say how bad KOS is, infact like i posted i KOS 80 percent of the time, I'm just here to share that this game has a lot more going for it than just a constant deathmatch

I'm just curious on how the bandit mechanics worked in the mod, did u have to kill a certain amount of players before u were considered a bandit and did the game recognize and differentiate a good kill to a bandit kill?
-
Well sure it's good that they removed something that was broken but i hope they bring it back, I deff wanna see some kind of rep for dayz I just hope they find a good way to calculate a bandit kill.

Winter Survival: The Northern Expedition
punkvegita replied to DevilDog (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Love this idea because there's a lot of potential. Thinking maybe one of the closest town while your going north might have a rare snowmobile that instead of walking up there two ppl can take and fill it up with supplies. Even a snowsled for all the food and extra gear might be cool. Another thing is once they implement the build your own base you can keep different kinds of gear in the base. So when you and some buddies wanna go up north u guys switch up clothes and gear which anyone that likes any kind of customization will love. Body temps could be cool to adding new items like thermometers. Instead of a overpowered weapon up there maybe the loot can be in some top secret lab where something really cool and unique only to that area would be there. I'm thinking maybe a super medicine which cures any sickness or maybe even something fun like a liquid form of the virus where u can actually inject into ppl to make there characters a zombie. Anyways thats my input and great ideas man really hope they make this game what it really could be. -
Specific Zones does not necessarily mean KOS but in my opinion you go in like it is KOS no matter what in those Hot zones I mentioned. Having control when your by yourself is extremely difficult. Another example i have is I was at the balota tents. I run through the tents as i always do no gun out, place like that is really easy to run behind cover especially when were talking dayz weapon accuracy. So I run out this one tent theres a guy right to my right, obviously I keep running go behind cover and lose them. I get around them without being seen, at this time they are obviously with their guns out looking for me. I see them and they don't see me instead of just opening fire and killing one of them and maybe getting killed by the other guy I speak to them. I tell them hey I'm just looting as are you guys since your going through the tents I'm gunna show myself just so you guys know I'm really not trying to have a firefight. By the way showing yourself doesnt mean being vulnerable basically just letting them know what area I was at. At this point they see that I could've gotten the first shot and easily killed one of them. So right there they pretty much trusted me, we agreed on me leaving the tent area just to make sure theres no tension and that was that. I'm not here trying to say don't KOS, in fact 80% of the times I will KOS, but I'll tell you right now those 20 percent that I didn't KOS were the most memorable. This game really is what us players make of it, so remember your impacting another player's game experience either in a bad or good way.
