    Weapons mechanics

I'd really like mechanics like in Receiver. So, the operation of the cylinder for the revolver, slide, chamber, and magazine for the FNX, and selective fire and bolt/chamber/whatever realoding mechanism for rifles. More buttons. More functions to learn and remember, and master, more difficulty, more options on how to use your weapon and better control on what you can and want to do. Yes, many, if even interested in reading this, will immediately want to reply that it'd be too complicated, but, why should it be EASY to operate weapons? I'm not suggesting a skill tree or minigame or a KOS solutions. It's just a wish for correct and functional weapon mechanics. The purpose is not for diffifculty, but for control over your weapon. Ability to load dynamically, to put safety, to chamber rounds individually, to unload dynamically etc. Plus, it's a blast to operate weapons. Just pointing and clicking and emptying your mags isnt my idea of fun. The basics are in game already. Just needs extra controls in place and a couple of game mechanics directed in the right places.

DayZ Carrying Over into Real Life...

I started using the term "pristine" and "loot" in everyday occurrances.

no need. I think we discussed this topic enough. Great sharing and contrast of opinion, and learning of new information. Now, lets go play.

    Children

I know skyline, but common people interpretation of the phrase "child abuse" is much more serious and scandalous than simply physical and verbal maltreatment. I dont think, if i taunted a child and made him cry, and you'd define it as child abuse, when told this to other people, they'd imagine that scene. I think they'd get a much DARKER image in their head. So, yes, it does scares me to read "child abuse" when talking about a videogame character. Applied in game. If it is not considered in the slightest accetable to have a child character be held hostage, be covered his/her head with a burlap sack, be shot in any part of the body even though it makes no graphical difference, be stripped to full underwear (shorts and t-shirt like female character), be punched, be stabbed with edged weapons, and be made screenshots of the mentioned practices, then no, there should not even be a continuing of this thread. But then i'd have to stop playing the sims 3, too? There are children in there, they can get naked, they can get in fights, can be killed, harassed, be put into embarassing situations, etc. It's a fine line. But i just cant imagine calling "child abuse" holding a child character in dayz hostage. Not even shooting him/her in the head with a shotgun. It's just no different graphically than doing it to a woman or man character. I would morally feel more emotionally involved, with any type of child character in game, either played by myself or somebody else, or AI zombie. But i can't imagine feeling offended by the graphical depiction of them in game. Not from the game's engine. It's a good engine, but i cant imagine it giving disturbing effects. Maybe if it had limb destruction, then of course, i could see a point. Or if there could be ambigious interactions between characters, like procreation or wrestling, or other full contact. But in this engine you just stab, or smack, or shoot, characters. If that's considered abuse, then i think this thread should end here, as there's no point wishing any longer. BUT, if there's light at the end of the tunnel, i found another GOOD reason to be a child: hide under the bed! OMG, 20 minutes ago i tried doing it, as i was terrified of a possible armed player in the vicinity. Would have felt legit to hide under it because im a scaredypants XD ahahaha and hate to get KOSed.

    Character Specializations

or.... expand the mechanics of things, and add minigames, as mentioned. eg. in-depth weapon mechanics (think Receiver). As mentioned. eg. IV application minigames. As mentioned. eg. advanced controls for cars and helicopters, making them as realistic as the engine allows. skills could then just be how proficient the character is at any given tasks. A dynamic value that boosts when practicing that activity and while in healthy conditions, and degrades over time not carrying out that activity. That would dynamically adapt itself to any player's gamestyle, as one that uses weapons constantly will be constantly skilled at realoading a magazine, clearing a jam, or steading the weapon while aiming, while someone constantly driving would have a better control and responsiveness, and someone constantly applying medical stuff will be more efficient at healing people, and someone constantly cooking will be more efficient at it. One can do them all, but it's hard to be perfect in everything. Nothing fancy or radical boosts, just a natural build up of muscle memory to certain tasks, making them more efficient. I'd be up for that. No levels, or permanent skills, or special abilities, or specialization, that'd be too much for me too.

A good use for pen and paper

I havent found paper yet, to try it out, but cant wait. Have been curious about it since day one. I will deffo read anybody's notes. I already read books in game during downtimes, or when waiting for buddies. Also, couple of my buddies are "squeakers" as some call 'em, and totally not kos'ers, cod'ers or the like. They're actually quite interesting to play with. Dont blame it on the kids, i say, because a lot of the uncaring players are young adults and adults. Please do write journals. If i find yours, i shall keep it with me.

Ever did something in dayZ you regret?

oh yeah. something like that happened to me. Regret falling for the obvious trap. Actually, i didnt exactly fall for the trap. I flanked the loot and inspected the building. But got into a shootout and died. I regret inspecting, since i was on my own, and there could have been god knows how many people inside. Anger, frustration, but also enjoyment as i learn a basic life lesson. ;)

Gameplay Mechanics Pt4 - The Weapons

I like it, and also have posted similar ideas, and read stuff about this kind of system and similarities. I hope it's taken into consideration by dev team. Current inventory is already the best i've seen in a videogame, but can easily become epic with these improvements.

not totally useless idea. I like it.

    Children

Even if a player harassed a child character, cant imagine being able to call it "child abuse". There's no nudity in game. Devs smartly gave us full underwear. Killing isnt graphic either. You just produce some random blood and your character stops moving. How is that "abuse"? Abuse would be the amount and commonness of these occurrances, but more to other players because they'd get annoyed, rather than actual depiction of child abuse. I think this law envolvement talk is being a bit exaggerated. Sure the topic is controversial, but i think it's far from depiction of abuse.
