Can Openers rare? I have two. Had like 7 before I dropped all but those two. Figured I'd keep one in case I meet someone worthy of it. They are extremely easy to find in civilian buildings.

Being Able To Carry 2 Rifle Sized Guns Would Be Nice

Valid points. Which is why the game should have a mechanic that encourages putting down your bearings when you're expecting trouble somewhere safe. Even when not carrying more guns than normal, a mountain bag should slow you down in combat. -

A couple years ago, to be honest. I could even travel three full days without sleep and barely any food while carrying all that shit around! Imagine what you could accomplish when there was the added motivation of everything trying to kill you? And I'm not a big guy. In fact, I'm shorter and leaner than most, so you ain't need to be a Rambo to do it. -

It really blows my mind when people think that two rifles is some sort of an enormous burden that is comparable to the fucking Ring at the slopes of Mount Doom. Come on, they weigh like 4 kg. New models even less with more lightweight materials. I could carry five rifles and a mountain bag and still run relatively fast and use my hands efficiently. Anybody could. It's not rocket science. -
Being Able To Carry 2 Rifle Sized Guns Would Be Nice

As I said earlier, I don't really feel it's a problem. If you have a gun sling, even a makeshift one, shouldn't be a problem for an adult person to carry two guns on his back when hiking/traveling. That tactical bag idea sounds pretty sweet. I'd like to see it make it to the game. -
Actually, if you mistreat a dog, it will remember and try to avoid you or become aggressive. Dogs can be pretty smart and more humane than some humans.

I know they will add a lot more content, but how will they make it all equally desirable and yet distinct enough that there is actually a difference in character models?

Being Able To Carry 2 Rifle Sized Guns Would Be Nice

Because when soldiers go to combat, they don't need more than a single weapon, and most don't even get a sidearm. This is because in combat you need to be fast and agile, which additional guns would hinder. For the same reason they leave their backpacks behind when the fighting starts, sometimes even their tactical vests depending on the objective. And besides, assault rifles are jacks-of-all-trades, so it makes more sense just to give the majority a one of those, rather than give everyone shotguns for CQC, snipers for long range encounters, and submachine guns for medium distance fights, and have them running around with three kinds of weapons around like idiots while getting shot at. However, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to carry multiple guns. It's entirely possible to carry a large mountain bag, a tactical vest, and two to six weapons and be able to move at a reasonable pace. Carrying two guns on your back shouldn't really slow you down. However, I'd like if the game actually made you plan a bit ahead with those weapons: if I was going to venture into town to look for supplies, I would leave my cumbersome mountain bag and any other gear into a safe spot and go in with an assault rifle. And when I left, I'd get them and change into the hunting rifle so I can easily scope ahead and pick off faraway targets before they become a threat. -
Should have nametags or some other way to recognize who your group is. Simply because: if you're running around with, say, four other maniacs in a zombie-infested hellscape, you most likely will know those guys and recognize them and their attire even from far away. Since there is no reason for anyone to wear nothing but military uniforms and ballistic helmets, this kind of recognition is impossible and unrealistic. Fixed with either tons more desirable options for gear or by giving us nametags.

The day in the life of an utter expert

This man is my hero. Tell me, how can I master the art of mooky-fu? I too wish to be as awesome as you are! -
Hey, I've been playing DayZ mod back in the day and now Standalone DayZ, and there's a few ideas I've been thinking of: First of all, I feel that the inventory system needs some polish. Namely, the speed at which your character can use and ready different items and weapons. The speed at which you ready an object should be tied to where you have it stored. If you have your pistol in your bag, it should take longer, much longer, to pull it out than if it was on a chest holster. Speaking of which, having your pistol in a chest holster should make pulling it out almost instantaneous. This would make the smaller inventory space more desirable over the bigger tactical vest. I also think you should be able to jump prone. I'm surprised it's not in the game already. If you're running, and press z, your character should throw himself to the ground. Maybe it's because the engine is horrible at simulating fast-paced combat, but characters feel like slugs right now. Especially if you're getting shot at, you should move a ton faster. Maybe if you take a small amount of damage (a one to three zombie punches), you should get a short burst of speed and increase in melee damage, simulating an adrenaline rush. Then again, taking more than a couple of hits should be more deadly. When they get the zombies and the server capacity up and working, I'm thinking that gunfire, especially prolonged gunfire, shouldn't just attract zombies, maybe even spawn more of them, and zombies should be much more dangerous and faster. If zombies were made dangerous enough, I believe KoS would reduce, as shooting someone could mean an angry horde coming down on yourself. It would also emphasize the survival aspect. Also, zombie attacks should break bones in addition to causing bleeding. A character should be allowed to carry more than one gun, including having one in his hands. Maybe introduce gun straps/tactical slings? This would make running faster when you have a weapon readied, and allow you to have more than one gun on your back, if say, you're carrying one for a friend. Hidden stashes. Make player able to use a shovel to dig a hidden stash to store equipment in. Of course, there should be a way for the stuff in the stash to persist over resets or to carry on to other servers with the player. Stashes could be found by other players if they stumbled upon them, but well camouflaged. Just a few thoughts. Any other ideas? EDIT: Also, when you find a corpse, you should be able to check if the body is warm and if it died of gunshots or from blunt trauma.

The KOS conundrum, problem/solution.
Noitatohtori replied to McBonkhead's topic in General Discussion
I don't really like the idea of going insane if you kill people. I imagine that after Day Z, society having broken down, it's much more easily justifiable to kill someone. It's about survival. I do agree that KoS policy is a bit annoying when I'd like to socialize a bit with people I meet in the game, but sanity isn't the way to do it. It's too handhold-y, and artificial. -
I didn't see this issue in bug reports. Basically: you randomly die when walking down stairs or climbing ladders. You somehow slide down or drop down instantly when you reach the top of a ladder. Even if the fall is less than it would be to drop down from the roof of a barracks building, you still die instantly. It's fucking annoying and completely random. This happened to me twice on two different servers on the span of 15 minutes, and my friend had experienced the same two more times before. So if other people are experiencing something like this as well, I think it would warrant a look.
