Great post OP - this is what survival is all about. I now get as much joy from finding a tin of tuna and a can of soda as I once did with finding a magnum with rounds next to it. This is reality. I remember a few weeks ago when I started playing, and getting down in the dumps about being KoS'd, and then falling off of ladders when totally geared up - but I came to reason that this was what it was at the moment in time during development - the easiest part (I'm guessing) was for all of the FPS stuff to be administered first of all, which of course suited certain players. Now the reality updates are coming in, and the fingers that I have crossed hoping that the devs turn this into the revolutionary, distinct and ground breaking game become closer with every update. I am so very glad that they are creating a realistic, emotion-driven game - - making my heart race when in a shoot out with other humans - elation when I now find a passable amount of food that will keep my char going - the occassional moment of terror when I hear some stealth zombie croak into my ear on a dark night... it's the next generation of gaming this. And it will only get better. Keep up the sterling work dev team - and never be sidelined from your goals for this game.

I disagree with most of what you say, but a very rare pair of binoculars would be pretty good in my opinion.. which would be good as you could wear them around your neck without taking inventory space. But of course it would mean standing still whilst using.

Why do some people need to be told how to do everything? Why can't they just trial and error, see what work and doesn't work, use their own imagination and intuition and think for themselves? Isn't that what this game is all about? Mummy and daddy won't be holding your hand in the zombie apocalypse, and be there to tell you how to do everything kid.

Just logged in first time since the update - I went into the update with not an item to my soul, I come through the other side in full combat gear, a Mosin, Fireaxe and loads of rounds for an M4 (but no 7.62). Along with this I have loads of antibiotics, vitamin tablets, charcoal tabs and placebo painkillers. The first house I looted on a near full server yeilded tuna and a coke.. Life has started well.

I find that it is best not to stop for anyone at the moment whatever position you are in. However, if it is a Brit, Irish or Eastern European accent asking me to stop, or asking for food I find them far more friendly in general and am likely to stop, whereas if it is a Dutch/German/French accent, I KoS if I have a gun, or just carry on running if I don't. These nationalities are the least trustworthy on the game - never help them, they will only fuck you over if they get a chance.

If for no other reason, I would not purchase this game for your son as a birthday present because it is a long way off of being finished yet and is missing tons of features. Buy him a retail version game, else he may be disappointed.

It is worth buying now, if either: A: you really wish to help BI in developing what could be an awesome, ground-breaking game or B: you are a FPS who loves easy gameplay, and just wants a slightly different scene to the ones you have been used to.

If in real life you take antibiotics or rub alcohol into open wounds, however healthy you are, you will have side effects. So IMO it is not a bug. It's just real life getting it's revenge on people who do not know what certain meds are for.

Yep, and thats just a part of the game mate. In real life you do not magically get better in an instant from taking drugs or applying medicine.

Your post is bollocks basically - you do not know what you are talking about. If you have had the fortune to not have had a zombie wound, and then you fill yourself up with water, vitamins and food, then yes, you will be healthy. But if you have had a wound of some kind that you have not treated, then fill yourself up until you fricking well explode - you will not be healthy from just eating and drinking. Try it noob. Let me guess, you are one of these KoS heroes who has come here hoping for just another FPS game? Typical crap.

If your status says 'healthy' then you should not be taking antibiotics or applying alcohol - because you are healthy and do not need it. When I have used these 2 things in the past it has been after I have been wounded, and your status will turn to 'sick' having taking either of them. You will then eventually get messages such as 'my wounds are looking cleaner' or 'my wounds hurt less'. Eventually the 'sick status will disappear and you are then not infected with anything that could potentially bite you in the ass later on. Do not use alcohol or antibiotics if you are healthy - a complete waste. However, epinephrine and pain killers/morphine I am yet to suss out yet.

When I went on my trip around the whole of Chernarus for 20-25 hours of game time avoiding people and seeing the sights and sounds, I acquired along the way similar amounts of ammo, before I eventually got bored and got into a gunfight in Cherno. I find that the NWAF tent area sometimes gives insane amounts of M4 ammo.

Jesus.. why stop there? Why not add extremely sophisticated cooking procedures as well? I want to have all of the best features of every single aspect of this game - why not have features that allow us to bake really complicated pies and cakes using basic ingredients? Howabout a street fighter like melee combat engine? What about gran turismo features for car driving? Why not allow every single thing in the game to be fully interactable? I want to chop down trees with an axe and carve the wood into intricate items with a kitchen knife. Howabout base building? I'm sure we could better any sim-world game!

I know what you mean OP, however things I am sure will improve dramatically. I think that at it's current stage it pretty much panders to the FPS type player, who simply loves easy loot, little or no zombies and running targets. I believe the reason for this is that a lot of the basic FPS components have been done over and over again, and this was the easier aspect to add to the game as early as now. However, as the game is developed I reckon that the teenage KoS spawn brigade are going to be in for a shock when their 'shooting skills' are secondary to other, more important survival based skills such as cooperation.

I think a lot of the nay-sayers here have missed the point - this wouldn't be implemented on all servers - there will still be the regular servers where you FPS fans can run around being super awesome spawn killers and where you can acquire really easy loot with only a few noobish zoms to worry about. This idea would only need be played by people with an interest in survival games.
