    Gps player location indicator

So, you might be saying to yourself, “I’ll just use my trusty GPS system to get around – that never fails me.” And you’d be DEAD wrong. To understand why, it’s important to understand how GPS works. “Satellites right?” Sure thing there Isaac Newton, but let’s look at it in a little more detail. GPS or Global Positioning System is a project run by the US Government, The Air Force Actually. The Air Force keeps a minimum of 24 satellites orbiting the Earth broadcasting a radio signal with their time and position. Currently there are a number of redundant systems should a problem occur. That’s the technology part. However, the weakest link in the security of any system is the human part. These satellites need constant adjustment. The ground operations are relative complex, and handled by 2nd Space Operations Squadron (2SOPS) . Their operations consist of a Master Control Station in Colorado, as well monitoring stations and antennas all over the world. This system allows the military to fire a cruise missile form a ship and have it fly through the correct window of the building. So, in ZA world, we have to assume an eventual breakdown in society, and perhaps the military becoming overwhelmed. What if the monitoring or Master Control Station were abandoned? How long would the GPS system serve us? Turns out, not very long. Without constant adjustments to the satellite’s clocks, they will be useless almost immediately. Now here’s some science stuff: Because of relativity (you know the Einstain stuff), time is actually different on Earth than it is in Space. So the clock shift in the satellites put the GPS coordinates off by 11 kilometers a day. 11 klicks is some extreme discrepency – enough to mean the difference between arriving at a well-stocked military base and becoming zombie poop. (Do zombies poop? We’ll examine that at another time). So Mr. Fancy Technologypants, where does that leave you. Well sonny, when I was a boy, they made these things called maps and compasses. Turns out they still make them, and they still work. Get yourself some topographical maps and a compass, take a course in orienteering. Source: http://www.zombiepre...gps-apocalypse/

    Player ID Cards

I'm sure someone has had this idea before but I couldn't find a thread, so I'm making my own now. To make hunting down players just a little bit more rewarding, and maybe even tragic, I'm proposing that when you kill a character that you can pick up his ID Card, which the player filled out in the options menu with name, DOB, and all the other good stuff, but on top of that it tells you how long this character was alive. An ID card could take up 1 slot each unless you get a ring binder to poke through the cards and then you could keep them in your pack. Maybe its just me but I think it would be pretty rewarding to kill somebody and find a whole stack of ID cards in his pack. Just for the record I'm not asking for an immediate implementation, just wondering what you guys think! Edit: It seems Rocket posted something along these lines just yesterday https://twitter.com/Rocket2guns/statuses/430466287077031937 . Idea was from foolonahill89

Or even better a passport with a date stamp?

    Player ID Cards

See, I don't really like that, it would just be thrown out, I think it should appear on the body when you die.

    Real only PvE

Can the mods just make a PVE Topic on the forum so all these dumb "hats +10" , "I was killed by someone" and " Can we have PVE Servers" threads can all go in there and stop cluttering up this Topic?

    Player ID Cards

Most definitely, but it should also be an item that doesn't incumber the owning player. You know how it is, the first thing to fly out of the inventory is the flashlight and the battery, so it should be either in a slot that is unusable for anything else or you just can't see it for yourself. It could only be seen when you're looting a player.
  8. What does it all mean!? Someone do science to it, we need answers!

  12. I've been playing on the Test Servers since the last patch, and when I disconnect and come back I'm standing in a completely different place then when I left. Normally this isn't a problem because I always try to log out pretty deep in the woods. Here is my problem though, I had to leave real fast and I was up at the western most Military Office (the one alone in the woods), so I ran about 3 min. into the woods and logged off. When I came back I was standing in the middle of the office building! How can this be? Is this a bug or a feature? Its sometimes hard to tell with Day Z.

    Respawning in the Danger Zone!

No problem, thanks for the bump, maybe someone will come along that knows the answer!
  14. Before anyone says anything : I know this isn't Polly Pocket's Virtual Dress Up Simulator! I can't honestly say this has happened in previous test builds for me, but since the last update the servers seem to be picked clean! I'm hard pressed to even find junk items like pliers and hammers. I honestly love having to actually go from town to town looking for food in normal servers, but I don't really think this should be the case on test servers. I think that test servers should facilitate just what the name says, Testing. This means more restarts so that new and fixed items are more readily available to the testers. As I write this there are some 1.2 Million Day Z Users out there and to my knowledge only about 20-25 Test Servers, lets say that only 10% of those 1.2 million opt into testing, that's still 120k people trying to get into about 1000 slots. That means people constantly coming and going taking items with them when they log out or die. I'm not asking for more servers, I'm just asking for more restarts so we can actually do some testing! Thanks for reading, Fox

We Need higher restart rate on test servers

Have I somehow managed to make a thread so unappealing that no one even bothers to answer? Wow...ego shattered.
  16. I really enjoy playing on Test/Experimental Servers for the fact that people are less likely to battle log because it takes forever to get back in because of over crowding but I can't seem to find servers sometimes. So off to my questions: 1. How do I find other test servers? For the last patch I used Gametracker to find SE and US servers and had to input the IP in Remote, but since the last update they have been down. 2. Why is it that I sometimes only find the UK servers and other times the DE, and other times again none at all and I have to go through Remote and manually input the IP? (I have no ping limitations set so that's not it) 3. Are these servers privately owned or are they ran by BIS? 4. Why are there only 4 servers per region? ( 2 Regular, 2 Hardcore) 5. This one it just a general server question: Why don't my favorite servers show up after I've favorited them? Thanks for reading, hope you guys have some answers for me. Cheers.
  17. Yeah tried all that already, doesn't work for me
  18. Why is it that people feel the need to beat this dead horse over and over and over again? Why don't they use the search function to see if a thread like this hasn't already been open a million times before? Please for the love of god USE THE GOD DAMNED SEARCH FUNCTION!!
  19. Are you some kind of sadist? Why would you ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever want this?! I read something similar on Reddit I think. I can't tell you who, but the jist of what he was saying was : When a player spawn into the game within about 10-20 meters a message pops up that says something like "Something doesn't feel right". If anything this is a much better idea for anti-ghosting.

    Man vs. Environment

Something I would really like to see in DayZ would be areas only accessible with special equipment, such as Hazardous/Nuclear Waste Dumps where one would need a Hazmat suit or a ABC-Mask to enter the area. This could be indicated as a hazardous area through a Geiger counter or dead and dying trees. I would also like to see forest fires, but I don't know how or if that would even work, and some downed powerlines and electrical hazards around the industrial area would also be nice.

    Man vs. Environment

Shortly after I posted this idea on Reddit I've seen more and more threads pop up about this, maybe we have a good chance at getting this implemented into the game, lets just keep our fingers crossed!
