    Craftable Compass

    There are other options to find compasses as well, like the free compass advertized at the bottom of the cereal box, and some survivel knives actually have one stuck to the bottom or in the grip with a screw off top. that would multiply the amount of compasses without complicated crafting!

    We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.

    Well there is already a system implemented into DayZ to see if someone if a goody or a bady. I'll tell you how it works, You walk up on your intended target and say "Hey! Friendly?", if he shoots you in the face he was a bady, if he doesn't hes a goody! Easy right? Now go out there and try it out you crazy kid you!
  3. To say that UN Peacekeepers don't get shot or shot at is a totally uninformed comment, to justify you wanting to play DayZ easy-mode. Since 1948 some 3186 UN soldiers have died on duty, granted only 817 of those where actually attacks on the Peacekeepers. Unfortunately I cant find any statistics on UN Peacekeepers wounded in action, but I'm sure they are substantially higher than the death toll. Having had the honor to have worked with and prepared men to go overseas on UN peacekeeping missions I know it can get crazy out there, so NO to your idea.

    Allow Server Configurable Pve Only

    I personally think it's sad that you feel that way. This game suffers from people taking out their frustrations on other player and "ruining their day" as you say, but I think that happens in just about any game that has anything to do with social interaction. Something you seem to be overlooking is that maybe when someone shoots at you they have gone through the same thing as you and aren't inclined to put themselves out there anymore and would rather just shoot, then risk being shot, KO-ed or captured. I also think it's uncalled for to just generalize people as "KOS griefers and douchebag" that are playing the game the way they like, that's why its a sandbox game, to give you the freedom to play as they like. As far as PVE Servers go, what would you do there? After a round through Chernarus you're all geared and all the zombies are dead (Because they don't respawn ATM). The game loses all flavor and many of the mechanics of the game are render moot. I mean this in the most respectful way possible, maybe you aren't the clientele that this game is trying to attract, which is in no way saying your a bad person, I don't like many games that others like, its just personal preference, but I would respectfully ask you to refrain from just telling people about the bad sides of the game, which almost all games have. Let people find out for themselves if the shoe fits them or not. Cheers, Fox

    KOS Types

    These are just some thoughts I had about the diffrent KOS types out there, and before anyone says I'm bitter about KOSers, just know I love killin' as much as the next man! 1. The Manhunter : Someone who enjoys the hunting of humans and will try to freak you out and make you run, so that he has sport. 2. The Sniper : Someone who sits on a building or in a boosh in a high trafic area just watching the people scurry around like ants and knows that he can stab out at any time and snuff out your life. 3. The Tinfoil Hatter : Someone who is so paranoid that he thinks everyone is out to get him. He will shoot on sight if he even thinks you're coming his way. 4. The Survivalist : Someone who isn't normally a shoot on sight type of guy, but if he's hard up for food or sees something on you that he likes hell take it from you. 5. The Sadist : Someone who will take you hostage, maybe even with the promise that he will let you go after he has gone through your belongings, but no he feeds you rotten fruit and disinfectent spray trying to rekindle the feeling for torturing small animals in his childhood. 6. The Mad Axeman : My personal favourite, A man so far gone that he mostly runs around in his underware wielding an axe indiscriminately choping noobs and veterans alike. 7. The Hero : My least favourite, A selfproclaimed hero of the wastelands, selfrightously proclaiming himself as a champion of the peoples and protector of noobs. He kills almost anything that he perceives as "Bandit like", profiling people by the style of cloths they choose to wear, making them no better that any old world cop shaking down urban youths that are wearing baggy pants. 8. The False Friendly : Mostly portayed by a bambi acting friendly to actual Friendlies who are geared. They walk around with said geared friendly for protection till they get some supplies together, but unfotunently greed knows no bounds so eventually he gets an axe to the head or a suckerpunch and a few bullets to the head for his trouble. 9. The Spawn Killer : Shortly after acquiring his last piece of so deeply desired gear, he realizes that his life has no purpose, so he goes back to where it all began only to see fresh new faces ready for new adventures. This reminds him of a time when he had goals in life, thus enraging him, and so his killing spree begins. 10. The Master Baiter : See something you like or an unlooted corpse just laying in the middle of the road or in a multistory wearhouse? Well, be weary, for much like The Sniper the Baiter will hide, but much closer to his target because he doesn't just want to kill you, he wants to loot your body. So always look up and into those suspicious booshes! 11. Bipolar Killer : You may meet him on the coast or inland waving at you with a friendly smile calling out "Friendly!". He offers you food and companionship, and you may spend hours roaming the wasteland together chatting, warding off zombies, and hiding from the odd Bandit. But what you don't know though, is that this mans psyshe hanging by a silk thread! It doesn't take much to set him off the snapping of a stick, you chewing to loudly, or a Squirrel fart or any other random event. Next thing you know your being beaten to death with a rusty pipe wrench while you scream "WHY?!" over and over again. 12. The High-strung Novice : Someone who has a heartbeat more akin to a sewing machine than anything else and runs around towns in a crouched manner like a little mouse, scurrying from house to house. Unlike most of our other specimen, he does not activly try to kill anyone but his finger is constently wraped tight around the trigger so if someone cuts a loud fart or walks up behind him, he jumps 10 feet in the air. He is just as likely to hurt himself as kill you. So, what do you think? Do I have 'em all or am I missing some? Please feel free to share stories if you like!     Yeah I understand that it hurts to be shot even though you have good intentions. On the other hand would the game be half as heart poundingly and pants shittingly scary if it wasn't that way? I love the rush I get when I see another player!

    When I first read your post my knee-jerk reaction was to tell you to stop being a noob, but that wouldn't be right from me, as I was a noob once too. The thing about this game that you must understand is that there are many types of KOSers : 1. So, just keep playing, read up on some of the great guides in these forums and you'll be a hardend, stone-cold killer in no time! Edit: Just as an after thought none of these are strictly exclusive, some psychos may have more than one of these traits!

I really like the idea, but this would be my main concern as well, but then again how refreshing would it be to hat have to necessarily rely on weaponry but instead maybe have a chance to have a dialog with your aggressors? More then likely though you'll just get your bag and pants stolen, but I still like this idea! Beans to you sir!

    I totally agree that the game would greatly benefit in having more weather types and something like "seasonal patches" for things like snowy winter or rainy season flooding, but in my personal opinion is that the game would also benefit greatly from other enviromental effects. It seems like most people want more realism, so why just stop at weather and seasons? Is that the only thing that effects us in real life?

    On another interesting note, the US experimented with weaponized tropical rat fleas and yellow fever mosquitos in the mid to late 50s. Seeing as the US and Russia where in an arms race at the time its entirely possible that Russia did some of thiese tests too. Killer fleas and masquitos!

    I did some reading around and found some interesting facts about Sarin Gas, like that under the right conditions Sarin Gas could stay around in high enough consintration to still be lethal for weeks to years in an inclosed environment, its pretty scary stuff. In the 50s the US and the UDSSR produced sarin for military purposes albeit, they both signed a non proliferation treaty in '93 to stop production and stockpiling by 2007, but who knows whats been hidden where?

    I admit, the thing with the gas may not really work, seeing as gases dissipat pretty quickly. There is still the option of Nuclear waste dumps like Lake Karachay, or maybe there is a nuclear power plant somewhere off the edges of the map with harmful waste runoff. who knows right?

    You could always have a Hazardous/Nuclear Waste depo somewhere and after a while of not taking care of it things would happend to release toxic gasses or radiation, like zombies bumbling around inside and scavengers opening containers they maybe shouldn't have. As far as forest fires go I don't think they should be randum either, but you have things like lightning, downed powerlines, unattended camp fires and tracer fire that could cause forest and/or house fires.
