Infections are on their way, be patient.

Just so you know, heart attacks are a thing that will happen, complete with heart fibrillation, checking of pulse and proper use of the defibrillator. In fact, they may already be in experimental, or are due soon. Check Sacriel's YouTube channel where Rocket joins him and discusses future features, they discuss the shock system and other health aspects like heart attacks. So yeah, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if a falling-down-hills mechanic is brought in. In fact, I'd welcome it.

I bought SSD disk as Dean rocket recommended, but

Hurr. I get 40 max when I look at the sky. Out in the middle of a field is 25 and in a forest/a town is ~10. Cherno/Electro is mostly just a stop motion montage of me dying. -
Why did I lose all my gear!
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to xXDreadSaintXx's topic in New Player Discussion
Logout timer. Your character stays logged in and sits on the ground for 30s when you log out. It's to tackle combat logging. Seems you were found and killed. More fool you for logging out in a fire station really. Also, this is DayZ; don't get attached to your shit, because you WILL lose it. -
This. Especially seeing the shots hitting the top of the stairs and not where the crosshair was located. Using 1PP, there's a good chance those shots would have landed and killed. Odds are stacked way against in a 3 vs 1 situation, but downing 1-2 may have made the remaining think twice about sticking around. Mind you, I get that in the heat of the moment rash decisions can be made or you don't think properly. I fucked up yesterday by responding to someone saying "Hello?" after I had been shot and was bleeding. In hindsight, I should have remained quiet and not alerted them to my still being alive . I'm hoping the two shotgun shells I unloaded into them as I died fucked them up somewhat so that my death wasn't totally wasteful.

1st kill, Did I make the right call?
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to zephon09's topic in New Player Discussion
Consider anyone at an airfield or military base to be a threat if they have a weapon, regardless of what situation you find them in. Or, put it this way; Would you have preferred waiting to see if they were a threat and finding out by hearing a shot ring out and "You are dead" appearing? -
Fixed that for you.

What a dick. I've yet to encounter a server admin resetting on death, but I think that if I did I just wouldn't bother ever joining that server again.

Zombies of lore are typically walking dead. The zombies in DayZ are infected humans. Therefore, any shot that would bring down a player should also bring down a zed. Current zombies only number in the hundreds, meaning there's probably no more than 2-3/km2 and across a 250/km2 which is not many at all. With thousands across the map (5,000 would mean 20/km2) they'd then be quite a challenge avoiding them, especially in towns. Put simply, they're fine as they are in terms of damage-taking so once they have their clipping issues fixed (and the melee combat is sorted too), the difficulty can be balanced with numbers.

Not knowing your assailant is a key part of DayZ, regardless of how or when they killed you. I'd like some death stats, like survival time 'n' such, but nothing about any killers.

I think it should go in the suggestions section along with the similar ideas already posted. I agree that direct communications should have the option to adjust the volume with which you speak at (ala Arma 2), but that's just for the ability to shout over longer distances and whisper over close ones, nothing to do with KoS. (it won't prevent it BTW, if someone is going to shoot you on sight then they're going to do it, regardless of whether you're shouting "friendly" or whatever at them).
-
And the fresh spawns that are being lit up by it, as described, do this how? Throw stones at it and shout some nasty words over direct comms?
-
Give it a rest. Heavy weapons have next to no place in DayZ and, although the advocates have some ideals about their use, they would simply be used to grief other players with relative immunity. If anything of the sort is ever added to DayZ then they should be exceptionally rare, exceptionally hard to get working again and difficult to use once fixed. Then they'd be balanced.
-
So all suggestions are pointless because there are still bugs in the game? Gotcha.

I like. Would be a worthwhile addition when bases/stashes are added. You know, like maybe noting down a grid reference for a stash so you don't forget or something.

Unconcious, how can I be revived.
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to PandaChef's topic in General Discussion
Depends why you lost consciousness. If it's because your blood is lower than 500, then never unless you get a blood/saline transfusion. If it was shock that put you unconscious (shock > blood = unconsciousness) then you'll have to wait until your shock value is lower than your blood (which, if you've been bleeding, might be quite low). An epi pen or defib will revive you providing it was shock that put you unconscious. If your friend has no saline/blood bags or an epi/defib, then either wait it out and see what happens or get him to kill you. -
Neutral safe zones that physically prevent combat
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to alleycat's topic in General Discussion
Except the various reasons I brought up back on page 5. You know, like how the idea of safe zones completely goes against DayZ being hard and unforgiving? And that a 5km wide strip up the side of the map where weapons don't work for whatever reason not only knocks off a third of the playable area but totally breaks immersion? Reducing that down to a 5km square doesn't fix anything either. Yes, clearly it would be my self esteem (which is soooo influenced by the content of games I play) that would be affected by the mods implementing a safe zone rather than... oooh, I don't know, my desire to play the game. Honestly, some of the arguments made here are pulled straight out of a rabbit's hat magician's arse. -
Many would call that trolling. Just sayin'.

I predict great things for this thread. Mostly "personal insults" and "graveyard". Anyway, the reason people say "It's not Rocket's vision" or whatever is simple. He's made it abundantly clear that DayZ SA will not be easy. It will be harsh and unforgiving. Therefore, any ideas like, oooh, Invincible UN Berets or 5km wide safe zones or some other totally inane shit like that quite clearly go against the "not easy" part of Rocket's aim of the game and so the people posting this are quite correct in their statement. It's got the full circumference of fuck all to do with being all chummy with Rocket or sucking his dick or whatever. I'm also amused that the OP has immediately assumed that anyone posting such statements is a raging Rocket fanboi rather than, you know, someone who enjoys DayZ for what it is (a brutal sandbox game that doesn't pander to carebears) and will defend it quite vigorously so that it doesn't get diluted into another lame zombie-basher or cookie-cutter FPS.

They've only just fixed the performance issues and will want to test them There are quite a number of reasons why loot respawning isn't in yet, and the spawn locations being glitched/broken would be one of them. I'd sooner see the spawn locations fixed and in all buildings before respawning happens. Anyway, why not just ask Dean directly on Twatter or Reddit, the Devs are all pretty damn responsive to questions and comments from the community.

how do YOU dress to look friendly? and what not to dress?
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
Yup. Every encounter I've had with someone wearing a gasmask has resulted in my death (or eventual death). Now I'll shoot a gasmask wearer without hesitation if there's a chance they will encounter me (or already have). Same with payday masks and the same with anyone moving about with their weapon already raised. -
Or is it just the way you're sitting? *badumtish*

Where is the loot respawn? In development. Next question.

I don't get what the fuss is about. It's not like holding the "W" key is particularly strenuous or anything, even if you do have to do it for hours.

I took a screenshot of the house in question the other night... And this is the kitchen inside... Contents on this occasion: 1 x rice, 3 x soda, 1 x tuna, 1 x beans/spaghetti. And I can't remember if there was anything on top of the fridge. Expect to also find canteens/water bottles and fruit of various quality. In short, always look in these houses, even if the doors are open, because there's a good chance there will be something edible inside.
