    New item idea?

With the crafting/cooking mechanics planned, I imagine one could boil water to make it safer to drink. It obviously wouldn't make it 100% safe and there would still be an outside chance of getting sick, but it would at least significantly reduce the risk compared to being a puddle drinker. No to the life straw though.

#1 priority issue needing to be fixed

    Agreed

    Additive sounds

I like the idea of lots of kit in your bag making a noise. It might not be too hard to implement. As Rufert suggested, each item could have a +ve or -ve sound value that adds to how much noise you make and each item could also have a material value that affects the type of sound made and how much of a difference it makes to the +ve/-ve value. So, for example, lots of tins of food would make a loud metallic clanging noise, whereas lots of clothes would make little to no noise. Combinations would then affect the volume as a factor of the +ve/-ve values of all items combined with a 10-15% variance, with the type of noise made being a random selection based on the material value of the items in the backpack. Therefore, a backpack containing some tins, loose ammo, clothes, bandages and a few sticks would randomly made ammo jingling and metalic clanging noises mixed in with the sound of wood being hit. It would all be muffled to some degree by the clothes/bandages. Wow, those sounds are absolutely fantastic. Devs, give this man a job!

    New vision of zombies

Someone posted elsewhere that the 'Z' stands for 'Zero'.

Keep the zombies the way they are

Because it's an alpha. The Arma AI isn't really suited for zombie behaviour and so the devs have canned it in favour of a new system built from scratch. The current AI is just a placeholder until the new system is finished so, at some point during this year, the new AI will be implemented. Then you'll shit your knickers pink. Stop denying the facts. ;)

    Suicide buttom?

Hogs knows where it's at. Proper planning prevents piss-poor performance.

Keep the zombies the way they are

Indeed. Zombies are likely to become a very real threat, even for experienced players. It's one thing that'll (hopefully) reduce KoS mentality.

The MI-4 pictured in that link looks like a properly rickety piece of shit. Perfect for DayZ! Wait, what? They have piston engines and are started by turning the fecking rotors?! Russia: Land of the Insane.

    Sabotage Items

Yeah. Do dropped items persist for any length of time currently?

    Suicide buttom?

I think you've missed the point of DayZ by the width of the Milky Way. Last time I checked, running about being chased by zombies with no way to defend yourself wasn't much fun, nor is hiding in a bush frantically tearing your t-shirt into rags to stem that fountainous blood flow before you bleed to death, or having an encounter with a sadistic bandit intent on ruining your day. No, what makes DayZ fun is surviving those things. It has been made abundantly clear from the outset that DayZ is both immersive and massively unforgiving. Literally at any moment, your life could end for any number of reasons. What if you'd survived for 8hrs and then died a pathetic death of dehydration in the middle of nowhere because you didn't pack any water? If we follow your point courageously, the solution would be "What a waste of 8hrs, let's remove the dehydration mechanic so people can have fun". That absolutely is not DayZ.

    I don't. Perhaps I should.

    New vision of zombies

In that case, shots to extremities shouldn't kill and only disable. i.e. shot to leg makes zombie fall over, then get up and continue pursuing whilst limping. Shooting the other leg means it falls over again but it continues to pursue you by crawling. Only body or head shots should stop them permanently.

    Bloodied overlay.

Hell yeah. Some more realistic bleeding would be nice, currently blood seems to fountain out of random places with the source being a good 6 inches or more away from the surface of the body.

    New vision of zombies

I agree, I like this. Perhaps shooting a zombie's leg will make it fall over/slow down and multiple shots to the chest will down it but not stop it. Only way to really stop it is to destroy the head. More than about 2-3 zombies coming at you would suddenly become a serious and persistent threat unless you can get away from them. I believe hordes are planned anyway. Not sure I entirely agree with this, my experience of zombies thus far has not been a pleasant one. They're pretty quick in a straight line!

    Spray Paint/Tagging walls and surfaces

No it wouldn't. The ability to add notes was added to the mod and then fairly promptly removed because people just wrote offensive and/or racist shit. The same would happen with this. Even if the devs only made it possible to add a finite selection of tags that they provided, every DayZ server would grind to a halt as people tagged everything. DO. NOT. WANT.

    Spawn Suggestion ( with friends)

DayZ is all about surviving, isolation and being shit-scared of what might be around the next corner. It will be literally impossible having a team/friend/clan spawn system without breaking that. The other thing about DayZ is the sheer scale of it. 250km2 dwarfs most other games and any form of warping makes that scale pointless; May as well just play it on some Battlefield maps and have do. As for vet players jumping straight back into it? Surely the mere fact that they are vet's will mean they'll be able to jump straight in because they'll 1) know exactly where they are when they spawn, 2) know exactly where to go to get the basic loot 3) know where to go from there to get better stuff. Being a vet' means they'll be back up and running far quicker than someone with less experience.

    Semi-persistent camps

I posted about the sleeping thing earlier today (hadn't seen this post prior to posting) so that aspect gets my full support. As for the camps, I think that ny form of persistence, be it temporary or permanent, will have some far reaching consequences and undoubtedly cause more issues than it's worth. Permanent simply wouldn't work unless you tied one character to one server as suggested, but then that begs the question of what would happen if the server was already full or simply not available for whatever reason. Would you have to just play with another character or start again if you don't have one? My first thoughts on that are "sod that". Here's how I think it should work (tying in with my other post about health and different methods of sleeping). Sleeping rough - You take off your backpack (if you have one - could be used as a pillow if you do) and curl up on the floor. The screen fades to black with the sound fading out slowly after it. - You log off and you and all of your kit disappears. - When you log back in, you're sat on the ground with your backpack on the floor next to you. Sleeping in a tent - You pitch your tent, take off your backpack and climb inside. The screen fades to black with the sound fading out slowly after it. - You log off and you and your tent disappears. - When you log back in, you're sat on the ground with your backpack on the floor next to you. Imagine, if you will, that your character actually woke up several minutes beforehand and packed your kit away quickly. When you log in, you join them sat on the ground having a quick rest. Sleeping in a bed - You take off your backpack (if you have one) and prop it up against the side of the bed. You climb in and the screen fades to black with the sound fading out slowly after it. - You log off and you and all of your kit disappears. - When you log back in, you're sat on the edge of the bed with your rucksack still propped up against the side of the bed. It's not a fantastic solution but it's the most elegant I can think of that avoids persistence and the issues that brings, both technically and gameplay wise.

    A few suggestions

Safe/trading zones have been suggested at least two separate times here today alone. Just no.

    My Humble Suggestions

You make a good point. Maybe apply the visual filters (colour, brightness etc.) to third person and do the same, plus any visual cues like glasses frames or gasmasks to first person?
