Whats going to be in 0.31.114160
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to Wernsley (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
"Hey! Aruzo! I've got a warning for you from Bald Man Sonetti. Cross him again, I'll stick a gun up your ass, and blow your fuckin' eyeballs out. Capiche?" Anyway, I am a gamer and a DayZ SA player and I am not furious about the teleport lag bug you speak of. Additionally, wind your neck in. -
All guns one shot kill = more authentic

Then I'm struggling to see the point of this thread. -
You favourite building to loot
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
Anything with closed doors. -
Catching wouldn't work, but throwing stuff would be cool. For example, you could throw a rock or something to distract zombies/players and throwing items would mean being able to keep a distance from a player when you're holding them up. "Go into your backpack and throw me your water".

This idea is ridiculous and unworkable. You get exactly zero beans. :emptycan:

Had my first encounter with another player
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to jbroge's topic in New Player Discussion
Don't forget, newspawns might be bandits that have just been popped. This is one reason why I will never give a newspawn a weapon and ammunition, because there's a chance they will shoot me in the head as soon as I walk away. I'm all for helping bambis but fuck getting killed for it. -
Question: Access other backpacks?
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to Mastho's topic in New Player Discussion
I was able to access someone else's inventory and take their M4A1. Tried to shoot them with it but it only had one round so I ended up dying. I posted about it here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/164158-do-you-need-a-drink/ This happened after I had been handcuffed, forced to eat rotten fruit and drink disinfectant, then released. It may well be a bug if you're not supposed to be able to do it. More testing is required. -
I imagine this will be done anyway, but only after all useful loot has been added and the loot spawning is sorted. In short, don't expect random tat to appear until at least Beta, if not later.

Inspect a dead body. "This person appears to have once been <insert survival status>, but now they're dead". Might make for imagining some interesting scenarios if you encounter a couple of dead bodies and one of them is "Survival Expert" and the other is something lowly like "Beach Bum" or whatever. I'd certainly be wondering what the shit went down at that location and also wondering if their killer is still nearby, watching...

After a recent zombie-induced death, I was near to Solnichniy and making my way South to meet up with a friend. Not not after spawning I'd encountered a zombie that made me bleed but had managed to get away from it. Running down the road I encounter two gentlemen coming the other way, both wearing combat gear and gasmasks. One of them asked if I needed any drink and I didn't answer. One of them started putting handcuffs on me whilst the other bandaged me up. Most strange. One then force fed me what I assume was rotten fruit and the other made me drink disinfectant. Awesome. They then released me, laughing hysterically, and ran off. Given I had a signed death warrant, I pursued them. They didn't realise I was following and soon spotted someone else to torment. Whilst they were doing this, I crouched behind one of them and force fed them an alcoholic tincture I had previously found (I don't know what that does but figured I'd force one of them to drink it anyway) before opening up the other's inventory and taking out the M4A1 they had. Not having time to aim properly, I pulled the trigger. BANG! click click click. BOLLOCKS! It either only had one round in it or jammed. I'm not sure if I hit one of them with the single shot I fired, I didn't have time to see as I quickly caught a 7.62 round from a Mosin using my head at point blank range. I respawned, this time a little South of Berezino. I was determined to find some weapons and put an end to their bandity ways. I entered the town and quickly found a few zombies. The first one I managed to run away from but in doing so, had found another. This one managed to hit me a few times and make me bleed so I beat a hasty retreat around some buildings and finally lost the Zed. I entered a small block of flats and went up to the top floor, luckily found a t-shirt and made some rags to bandage myself. Crouching, I explored the top floor a little and then decided to take a look out of the balcony to see what was about in the town. Unfortunately, I didn't press C to stand up and instead pressed V. I then had a forced first person view as I climbed over the balcony and fell to my death. I guess the Banditbashing will have a wait a little longer.

The rifle was in their inventory and therefore slung over their shoulder. I was able to take it and use it. I could also see the contents of their backpack. Whether this should have happened or not I have no idea, but I can assure you that it did and can only assume that if it shouldn't have happened I found a bug and was able to exploit it. Perhaps two friendly players could experiment with this to confirm if it's a bug? EDIT: Furthermore, if this was a fake story, do you not think it would have ended better for me? You know, rather than firing off a single shot and not being sure if it hit anyone before having my head blown off, I'd have stolen their gun, killed them both with it and took their loot whilst teabagging them as a group of newspawns gathered around and chanted my name?

I'm guessing you've not played Eve Online then, the character creator in that is phenomenal. But I get the points you're making, they make sense now you've made them.
-
At present I'm just trying to learn the map and survive whilst doing so (and usually failing). Given sufficient firepower/kit though, I'd be off annihilating bandits that insist on shooting newspawns. The colossal shitwhistles.

*shrug* I had a message pop up on screen telling me that I was performing an action on someone so I assume it was doing it. I was most definitely able to go through their backpack because I took their weapon off them and fired it.

You Didn't Fix Spawns You Made Them Worse....
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to 13celticsboy's topic in General Discussion
Earlier this evening I spawned in a village with what appear to be a mosque rather than somewhere on the beach as usual. Unfortunately, my spawning agro'd several zombies in the area and I died in pretty short order. -

I have a YouTube account. Can haz press vest nao? -
Indeed. Getting headshot and dying would be instant lights out. What Space Milk is suggesting is that unconsciousness isn't also an instantaneous thing and happens a little slower.

Just a little item suggestion: Whiskey Flask
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to SGT Phon's topic in Suggestions
They're actually called hip flasks. They could contain alcohol though, either as a disinfectant or a pain killer. -
I like this idea a lot. Dying from blood loss, for example, could mean that the screen goes grey and fuzzy as it does now, camera movement becomes sluggish and delayed with your character eventually collapsing to the ground (camera switches to first person at this point) and the vision/sound fades out as suggested. Being knocked unconscious could be represented [for the unconscious player] by a black screen with any sounds being muffled and distant sounding. The sounds and vision could then slowly return if the player regains consciousness (i.e. after being hit in the head).
-
Ooh, I like the idea of non-lethal rounds for shotguns. For example, beanbag rounds could knock a player unconscious for a few minutes. The aggressor could then take some of their kit without having to kill the other person. I'd certainly prefer to be knocked unconscious and lose some of my kit than be killed and lose all of it.
-
I don't like the idea of tags/names/any other form of HUD identification for players. I like DayZ's lack of HUD, it adds to the immersion and realism of things. A more in-depth character creator would allow people to make their characters more unique in appearance and therefore more identifiable, although for that to really work the character creation would have to be a one-time-only thing otherwise people would simply change their appearance every time they are killed.

No, this is because loot spawns aren't in their final state yet. Loot, once fixed, will respawn which would mean server restarts would only be required due to performance issues or upgrades. And once loot respawning is implemented, server hopping will reduce significantly.

During an ongoing zombie apocalypse (or any form of massive social disruption like that), probably with a nationwide state of emergency declared, you can be pretty sure that any military personal on duty would be combat ready. Therefore, it stands to reason that any military personal that have become zombies would likely be wearing their combat gear. In line with this, an interesting dynamic could be having random military zombies carrying grenades that may explode if shot. Shooting an army zombie would not only run the risk of not actually killing them due to the body armour, but runs the risk of causing a loud explosion that would obviously kill anything in close proximity, but also alert anything in the vacinity. Agroing an entire base of zombies would be a very bad move indeed.
