Anything that pacific_coast writes is either weapons grade trolling or weapons grade stupidity. Or both. Usually both. /Ignore
  3. If you're on experimental hardcore then I wouldn't mind another set of eyes, although I'm UK based so lag might be an issue on US servers.

How to make more deeper game

    Always go more deeper.

    Loose gear on server reset/restart?

Also, something that's not been mentioned yet is Regular vs Hardcore. These have separate hives so your Regular character won't ever be available on a Hardcore server and visa verse. You can switch between Regular and Hardcore without losing the character you are switching from, so you could play Regular with one character, switch to Hardcore and play with another character, then switch back to Regular and play with the first character again (assuming they've not been killed - note that there is a 30s logout timer whereby your avatar stays in game for 30s and can be killed, whilst you only see menus. It's also possible to log back into a server you have just left and kill yourself). Check what server type you're logging in to prior to logging in. The only difference between Regular and Hardcore at the moment is that Hardcore has forced first-person perspective, whilst Regular is switchable to third person and back. I would expect that Hardcore will have other differences later on in the development, but for now it's just the view. Also also, don't forget the #1 rule of DayZ: Don't get attached to your shit, you will lose it at some point.

    Painting Ballistic Helmets

I'm not sure we'll see much in the way of colour options for spray cans, at least not until well into Beta, due to the effort required to implement them. Each item that can be sprayed requires (I believe) four different texture files created for each colour. That's quite a lot of textures when you consider how much can be painted already.
  7. Similarly, I've been on 40/40 servers and found Berezino relatively stocked given the number of people connected. Once, I assumed that everyone was punching each other in Electro, looted the entire place in peace and left with plenty of shit to see me through. As above, this isn't always true. I've found that there is no logic or reason to whether an area has been looted or not. Typically, coastal areas will be stripped bare and doors open are indicative of a place being cleared out, but there are always exceptions. I've found food in the yellow house at the North end of Kamyshovo and useful items inside buildings that already had the doors opened plenty of times before now. So much so, I now pick a direction I want to travel in and always check all buildings just in case something useful has been left.
  8. Quite. Poirot will have difficulty deciphering the clues on this one.

Hallucinating while low on blood , starving and dying of thirst

I like it. For info though, unconsciousness happens at <500 so your number would need to be 7/800.

    Death.

I think you've missed the point of the suggestion. I love it.
  11. Monkfish (DayZ)

Do you taunt people after you've killed them?

I was under the impression that they can hear you if you're unconscious but not if you're dead. Anyway, I'd say something if the situation warranted it. For example, if I was engaged by a bandit and was able to kill them, I'd probably say "you picked the wrong person to fuck with" or something else suitably macho/lame*. *delete as applicable

Which SDLC model do DayZ devs use?

I really like the Dev's responsiveness to, and involvement with, the community. It's something that's not often seen (to my knowledge) and really gives a personal feel to the whole experience. I also think the pace of the updates and the ground they've covered in a short space of time to be quite impressive. Keep it up, Bohemia. :beans:

    Spawns should be like this

There's little wrong with the current spawn locations.

    I really hope this happens.

    Identifying Players

You only think there are limitations before you that prevent you from doing what you want to do because you're playing the game like deathmatch/team deathmatch when DayZ is neither of those things. In deathmatch, if someone kills you, you know who did it, you know their name and can hunt them down, stab them in the tits and teabag their corspe whilst yelling "you like that, huh? Bitch!" into your microphone. In Dayz, if someone kills you, you're dead. End of story. It's not a deathmatch, it's a survival simulation/game, and death is permanent. You start a new life from scratch and whilst you can remember that the dick in the gasmask with the M4 shot you for no good reason, your new player has no knowledge of them and there should be no nameplates, messages or notifications indicating the name of the person that killed you so that it's easier for you to exact revenge. Again, it's not a deathmatch. If you want to hunt them down then that's your choice, but if you're to be successful then you need to hunt them like you'd hunt a person (or spawn nearby and rush them with your fists up ). No nameplates, nametags or death notifications should ever have a place in DayZ. If one wants to play a deathmatch then one should go and play a deathmatch game, DayZ will only ever disappoint in that regard.
  18. Only simpletons hammer shit out of the "Post" button until something appears. ;) EDIT: And only edit one to correct a grammatical mistake  This thread is amazing.

Please Add The Ability To Text Over The Radio

In my "imagined world", I can use VOIP whilst the Mrs sleeps next to me on the sofa and not wake her up, so go figure.

Please Add The Ability To Text Over The Radio

There are... *counts fingers* ...three reasons I can think of where someone with a mic cannot use it. - They are mute - They are playing in an excessively noisy location - They are playing literally right next to someone who is sleeping All other situations can be worked around by fiddling with the mic gain and speaking at a suitable level for the situation. Cries of "oh, but someone is sleeping in the room over" is a poor reason. Turn the mic gain up and speak quietly. The sleeping person won't hear you unless you speak like Foghorn Leghorn or you live in a house made from rice paper, and the gain increase will mean it's loud enough for people to hear in game. Simple solution to a simple problem, no? Presactly. Anyway, text over radios? Nyeh. It should be restricted to a max length of text (say, 100 characters) because realism/immersion/fuck people without mics*. *delete based on personal preference

    Global type chat

How to encourage people to use it? Use it yourself, lead by example, be your own boss, <insert suitable motivational poster quote here>. Seriously. If people want global chat, set it up yourself with the radios. Pick a channel and start broadcasting that this is an open channel. People will eventually reply and if you keep at it on one server then people will get to know that radio channel whatever is typically used for 'global' chat on that server (hell, server admins could post it in the server MOTD/login message if so desired). If it takes off, you'll start to see it on more and more servers and maybe, just maybe, it'll become 'a thing', an unwritten rule if you will, of DayZ SA. If it doesn't then I guess people don't really want global chat.
  22. Monkfish (DayZ)

    Global type chat

    I doubt it.

    DayZ SA Stories; "Karma"

There are a few things you should probably have learnt from the Internet in your time using it. Firstly, it never forgets and having a massive teddy ejection over something as simple as video views will tend to follow you around for a while. Secondly, asking for attention, having a waaah when it's not given, throwing childish insults about followed by a weak apology and some heart bleeding, and then asking the Internet to just drop it isn't going to work. Oh no. What'll happen next is the Internet will grab this thread in its teeth and shake it, much like when a dog shakes the insides out of a toy and chews it until the squeaker is left a sticky punctured husk of the squeaker it once was, and the thread will get plenty of attention - just not the sort you want - until the memes start and the moderators wage in with the threats about being civil and locking the thread. Then it'll decend into the depths of nowhere. Oh, and thirdly; the Internet is funny. Really fucking funny. *lights blue touch paper and retires*

    Why should street lights work?

Pretty much all modern day powerstations are automated, people are just around to keep an eye on things and intervene when shit fucks up - amusing aside, if you can call it amusing; every nuclear disaster has always been the result of one or more person's fuckup :D - so as long as nothing major goes wrong or the fuel doesn't run out, powerstations will just keep going. Of course, this won't be forever, things will eventually fuck up (which is why people are there) or it'll run out of fuel or something else will stop it, but it stands to reason to expect the power to be on for a short time after a zombie/virus-based apocalypse. How long? Pfft. How long's a piece of string? There are so many variables to contend with it would be impossible to say. I'm not sure what the timeframes are between the release/spread of the virus and now, but if it's a few months then the power may still be on. Or it's just a graphical glitch/map fault that's so low on the priorities list it's written in the footer.
