Try the morphine, I'm curious if it'll fix both arms.

I bought SSD disk as Dean rocket recommended, but
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to Rivals.Joho's topic in General Discussion
I imagine my specs are significantly worse than the average gamer's on account of me having a properly old rig. It's running; AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ @ 2.3Ghz (dual core) 4GB 800Mhz DDR2 RAM 1GB Gainward (nVidia) 8600 GT Windows Vista 32 bit It's in dire need of an upgrade. My intention short-term is to sling an SSD into it with Win7 64-bit installed and put some more RAM in. That should help until such time as I'm in a position to buy a new rig (I'm getting married in three months or something so I have exactly fuck all money to spend right now). -
Apart from the whinging, hyperbole, rhetoric, poorly constructed arguments and assumptions, and just a general lack of levelheadedness and common sense. ;) You're absolutely bang on about the quickest way to get a suggestion ignored though. There's nothing worse than a poorly written and shit suggestion from a child that can't think in more than one direction at a time having a proper teddy-out-of-pram moment because people aren't falling over themselves to back the 'amazing' idea they've had. Although it is amusing to thoroughly deconstruct their arguments and watch them flounder about trying to respond. :D The Internet: A platform for geniuses and a sounding board for idiots.

Shock being higher than blood = unconscious, not dead. There is a chance of suffering from a heart attack (experimental), but that only happens when unconscious and should be preceded by notifications like "my chest feels tight". It also shouldn't instakill you but, you know, alpha.

how long does dropped gear stay in place?
Monkfish (DayZ) replied to CardinalSins's topic in New Player Discussion
Corpses are different, they disappear after 10 minutes (although some have reported this being near instantaneous - alpha). It'll all come out in the wash. -
Exactly. I leave stuff I don't need or want, although I close doors behind me. Not to indicate that loot remains, but to cover my tracks and lure others into a false sense of security. Still, others leave loot in place and doors open so, like I said, doors open doesn't necessarily mean all of the loot is gone. Like you, I've found weapons in hi-pop servers. I once found a Mosin in Berezino on a 40/40 server. I guessing that everyone passing through saw the opened doors and assumed the place had been cleared out and didn't bother checking, much to my benefit. Although there wasn't a scrap of ammo left in the place, so the find was as much use as a handbrake on a canoe at that point. EDIT: Also, firing a weapon in a town will also draw most, if not all, of the zombies in the area to you. Depending on where you are, this could be A Bad Thing™. And that's at current zombie numbers and spawn rates, I shudder to think what sort of clusterfuckery would ensue if one fired a Mosin in Electro with hundreds, if not thousands, of respawning zombies in the area. :D (this is also why the KoS 'problem' many whinge about won't be as apparent during late game - firing a gun in a large town like Electro would be suicidal).

This. Plus, if you bleed all over your clothes and they become soaked in blood, they can't be used as bandages at all. As for the "open doors = move on" thing, doors being open doesn't necessarily mean a place has been cleared out. It's likely, yes, but not always the case. It's worth checking, especially if you're in need of a particular item like food or water. Obviously, if you start checking and every building is empty of loot then it's probably time to cut your losses and move on. You also have to consider the location too. Near the coast, it'll likely be empty, but further afield you're more likely to find stuff as the person opening the doors won't be picking up the stuff they don't need.

I just encountered a zombie that, in one hit, ruined my jacket (and the compass/shotgun shells within), made me bleed and broke my arm. It caused a 4/5 notification message spam (arm in severe plain, bleeding, I think my arm is broken) and would have probably done far more damage had I not had a healthy status. Going on my experience, it wouldn't surprise me if a hit like that to the head (I'll assume you were crouched) would insta-kill, especially if you've not healed from previous damage.

Just a reminder for you when you just spawn in

Noooooooooooooope. Let me introduce you to . /Off-topic

This is what I really want to know. If DayZ can't ever fully work (and the concept is therefore fundamentally flawed), then I'm curious as to exactly what the perfect outcome would be like. Mostly because I have some ideas of my own that I'd love to implement into a game (and I may have recently discovered a new engine that could enable that).

Movies and brainless shooters have a lot to answer for.

Post count is irrelevant. But the point that was being made was that it is almost always someone who has a low post count that pitches up and has a good fucking whinge about the game not doing A, being broken by B or is just buggy and shit or KOS problems or "waaaah lost my gear" or what-fucking-ever. I have seen some people with a single post on the forum having a proper pissing-fest about whatever issue they feel shouldn't be in a game in early Alpha, seemingly having no clue what's involved in the development of a game and how alpha testing works. And it's always amusing when the standard reply is "Dude, Alpha" and then someone whinges because someone said "Dude, Alpha", even though that's exactly the reason why the game is buggy as shit. It's in alpha, deal with it. It'd be a real novelty if people pitched up and instead of pissing bile all over the place, actually contributed a meaningful post (having searched beforehand to ensure it didn't exist already) with observations, suggestions and general level-headedness about the whole situation. Unfortunately, you can't stop people being colossal fuckwits and the circle of forum life plods inexorably on. Fucking. Alpha. Now you're getting it. However, there's no reason to stop playing, providing you can ignore (or, better still, report) the issues you encounter. After all, that's what's involved in early access testing. There's no better way to test a product than to release it into the community and let them try and break it. You're nothing more than a test mule. If you can't be arsed, then fair enough, come back in a few month's time or when the game is closer to being finished (i.e. mid/late Beta). If, however, you want to continue playing then you have to simply suck up all of those annoying times when you get smacked by and invisible zombie and lose your gear, glitch off a balcony and lose your gear, just die randomly at the top of a ladder and lose your gear or get shot in the face for no reason by some shitwizard that thinks they're playing a different game (or is just a psyco/sociopath) and lose your gear. #1 rule of Dayz: Never get attached to your gear. Enjoy.

What has the game become? Nothing, yet, because it's in ACTIVE FUCKING DEVELOPMENT. Stop expecting a finished and polished, flaw-free, product whilst it's in Alpha. Please, just fuck off elsewhere for a bit and come back when it's finished.
