Issues with firearms in Dayz SA (real world shooters perspective)
Space Milk replied to daltar08's topic in Suggestions
rem 700 PSS uses 7.62 round, far more powerful and accurate over ranges that what the carbine uses. -
Well prove me wrong with evidence photos and experience instead of making a backless statement.

500 is almost tiwice the distance as 300 meters. You said accurate, but exactly HOW accurate? Pull some photos of targets at 500 meters for 5.56 at carbine length. Not to mention, that those rounds have been just sitting there for years, and so has the gun. Both will not be in perfect condition. -

*Aiming properly results in poor accuracy. I am a shooter too. Try shooting at 500 meters with a CARBINE, using a small .223 round. Mosin has perfect accuracy. -

Curious but did you ever had a failed attempt? Like you went to heal a guy and he laughed and said "jokes on you" and a bunch of guys slaughtered you? -
If you live in a state where it is legal, rent a rifle and carbine and some attachments like scopes and bipods. Look for a 500 meter range. Try to shoot accurately with the carbine with the scope Then try with bipod. Try to shoot accurately with the rifle with the scope Then try with bipod. Or watch it on youtube and see their targets. I don't know why you assume I want arcade shooting. By scope, look for a long range sniping scope one and another one for short to medium ranges, like a ACOG.
-
At 500 meters this predictability is "less" unless you have a nice scope and bipod.

AR-15 is a varmint rifle. You can't kill deer with it. I HUNT DEER and a .223 does nothing to them. You would need a .308 or .270. -is the Mosin way more accurate than the M4? Because the Mosin has a longer barrel and more powerful round designed for longer ranges. -are survivors less stressed or better trained when holding a Mosin? Umm, neither? -why does adding a muzzle compensator or Magpul stock dramatically increase the accuracy? Are you talking about accuracy or kick? If kick stocks help make people more comfortable and allow for better follow up shots. If for actual accuracy, no idea. -why does a bipod turn the Mosin into a de facto M24? Umm. Bipod helps stabilize the gun. EVEN THE SLIGHTEST movements of a gun, possibly unnoticeable, totally affect where the bullets hit. You can still hit but not kill, so no. You gotta realize, you are looking at 500 METER RANGES. You are comparing a carbine, a short barreled rifle, that fires a short to medium range cartridge the .223. with a full fledged rifle using medium to long range cartridge the 7.62.Then of course with pistols. The dispersion IS NOT representing the stress, it is representing where bullets actually hit. You can aim right at your target from 500 meters and miss because of the slightest movements or because of your crappy round and barrel length. EDIT:I can't believe you people are horrible enough to hunt deer with a 22LR or .223. It's not a kill round, and it would probably try to escape and suffer. I thought those rounds were illegal for deer hunting, which they should.

What DayZ also needs to be even more realistic?

It would be cool if I could pick mushrooms and feed it to my pet goat, then take his poop and clean my shrooms. then smoke them and see these colors and hallucinations of zombies and people. -
Types of Guns: Read if you don't know the typesi

Can you guys not read the title? -
9mm rounds: Easy to find, lower recoil and kick than .45 ACP (which does has quite a kick) can hold more rounds, more accurate, and is very quiet. Far from obsolete. Although against players there would be better options like .45, this would be a good zombie killer gun, along with any .22LR.

If you wear the ghillie suit it should add ghillie to the weapon you are holding. Or make it a attachment. Weapon ghillie.

Even though real world it is fairly common, one would imagine that no one would leave their house without their pocket knife, meaning it should be rare. Like the idea but like most items should be low priority. EDIT: Also could be a Swiss Army Knife.
-
It would work since obviously zombies can't go into space and knock out the GPS. And all it takes for a device is a battery. Flagella (nice name I like cells) hand cuffs are just as useless but they are something and something fun. This is too, but it should be a low priority.

Duffle Bags, Trauma Bags, Tent Bags etc - dont shoot im useful!
Space Milk replied to dubghall's topic in Suggestions
This should already be in the game. -
I will say this with no evidence, but I would imagine unconsciousness is just like death, except you come back. You ever see someone, on TV, radio, or just some show, who went unconscious and said "Is this heaven?" With this in mind the only difference would be the message that appears after tunnel vision takes over. Not like people will quit immediately after the animation starts. Maybe, unconsciousness takes longer, OR the difference would be that while the animation is going, you can hear your heartbeats and breathing. With unconsciousness, the difference would be you hear yourself continue breathing and your heart beat. With death, you stop hearing it after the tunnel vision takes most of the screen.

There are different crosshairs for different purposes.

I would give them my gun to see their happy faces, then shoot them and take my gun back.

BEFORE ANY ONE YOU FREAK OUT, TAKE THE TIME TO READ I think the ability to kill ourselves by slitting our throats and shooting ourselves in the head should be added BECAUSE Have you ever just started out (not fresh spawn) and got some stuff like a knife, or maybe even a gun but fell far enough to break your legs. Sucky thing is, there are no zombies around in a significant range, and the area is not frequented by people. There aren't even ledges to jump to your death. Even worse, no medicine to fix the legs. Yet you are forced to crawl for hours just to die or find the correct medicine. Instead, people should brutally and horribly kill themselves. Do a animation where they slit their throats, or where they blow their brains out. If someone happens to come by to see the body and cannibalism is added, they should eat the brains off the wall.

Your thinking of the Gulf war.We did that because we predicted of WMD's and heavy armored resistance, hence the tanks.
-
There are areas in the map where it is practically devoid of zombies and players. (Northern plains, mountains)

M240 is 7.62. I never said Browning HMG was slow. I said the sniper is slow. You think that you can effectivily take out a car within 5 with a sniper? With a HMG it would be less. With a LMG like M240 it would be 5 seconds. We are talking about the military. With that logic the US should storm the terrorists in Iraq with a bunch of Abrahms tanks because their life is on the line. Would result in less deaths, right? I mean, their life is on the line, they need the best no matter the cost. Sorry but that logic doesn't apply anywhere, except with civilians, maybe. Even if they were so stupid, likely the guys on the other side would have been as stupid as the guy asking and used it themselves. The pandemic is world wide.

I COULD SEE jets being added. Jets, as my father has flown himself, are easier than flying model aircraft. The hard part is dealing with high G turns and the scary feeling of "HOLY SHIT 1000 MILES IN THE AIR FASTER THAN SOUND I'M GOING TO DIE!!!" or, also called stress. You do need to be fit to fly jets but remembering the fact that your character can run kilometers straight without dropping means he is more than fit enough. EDIT: I forgot to mention about jets. Besides stress, the other hard part is figuring out the radar. Helicopters on the other hand, as you have said, are EXTREMELY HARD to fly. My father knew heli pilots in the Navy (he was in the air force) and even for them, every flight was a flight into hell.
