Frankly I prefer waiting a bit longer and get stuff that works when they are puched to Stable... look at the crossbow/bow in Stable right now... all but useless.

Sorry but I cannot see what you mean at all - please post comparison shots and dont use the fly option - in game you are firmly on the ground :)

Im not sure if its even viable in the game engine used - the game would need to indeed follow your FOV to draw as it goes, could be more FPS impact that I first imaging ... And even with the solution of having the draw distance for foliage extended to those with higher end rigs, it would create a huge disadvantage compare to those who draw nothing at distance ...

Is the DayZ mod still heavily populated? Steam has a great sale on Arma 2 so i was wondering.

Pretty much this. I like gameplay over graphics/art but Dayz Mod really look bad* *compared to Dayz SA -
The only place they are adding cities/town is on the "plus" part which is North... totally ok with me!

A guy has touched on that very subject for Arma3 - something to do with the Medium range Map textures BI are using that is not very detailed ... Im not too push, the game looks good to me at distance (click for 1080p):

You may be able to do that in the CFG file? Aside from that I got used to it in few hours.

We know that yes, Chernarus + is exactly that, Chernarus with modifications...In fairness, not many trees removed, nice building addition and yes you are right the ground texture is not the same either.

Just to echo many other players, it doesnt work for me anymore since couple of patches, just pitch black except for sky. -
That would be last night... casual run to Balota from NE to shop for a LRS - as you do - quiet server but Zeds all over, no firearm at that point so bayonet/fist fighting, get hit several time, bleeding, cant get away from them but worse, desync all over and bandages wont trigger "use" in the inventory!! Managed to run to Bolata into a two story, and log off, bandage on respawn and back to the tents... more Zeds, more fighting/bleeding, "you are dead".. Extremely frustrating!! Spawned back at Berenzino and decided to give it another go which went without a hitch this time! Fuly kitted out now ready to get some action at NWAF/NEAF :D

The Devs clearly also want you to be able to adjust the gamma and brightness as every monitor/gfx/player eyes is different. -
No everyone has a rifle on its back and even when they have its not necessarily loaded! Agreed more mags for pistol required. .45/9mm ammo is common loot but mags? :(

Was thinking the same as above, you may have been killed while de-spawning... I always try to pick either a two story building or a nice pine tree and wait a minute or so so no zombie agro around. -
Why so? The vehicle would then not be the player's anymore but yours...

The same thing that happens if you loot a dead body, it disappear within a time (15mn at present) in front of you while looting it.

I think a bug is most likely explanation in this case.

Been trying to understand how it could work and I think we will see backpacks/small containers and their content being persistent on servers via the central hive. I cannot see tents or large containers like this being implemented on a central hive system for obvious reason that the map/world would be filled with them (25k players on average at all time I believe). Even with this however I feel there would be a need to tie that container to your player inventory - what this would do is that when you log off a server the container would remain for 30 seconds (like your avatar) then disappear with you - and of course the container will be present in the server once you login. that would solve the issue of the containers been there all the time across all servers. while not being totally fair (container gone with you logging off) I feel that is the only way to have a central persistent container solution. No, this is the same idea I just posted about. The container and its location de-spawned with you login on or off.

True - from my own experience I do believe sodas hydrate you to some extend. I have add my hydrated status back to full after drinking a few before. Maybe you were really down
