This is no KoS thread though. 'Tis about people rather dieing than talking when it comes down to it sometimes. (I don't mean to be cocky with this thread, and imply i never get hold up myself. I do get shot sometimes, like everyone.)
-
How the hell does that happen? If you stop them when 10 m away from you, and they keep running towards you, fists raised, you shoot the stupid fella. I've never had that happen though.

KoS is not part of the game, it IS the game.

You just said it. S U R V I V A L game. Would you like to survive? Then you'd like for me not to kill you on sight, no? So i chat you up, and after, we both go on our marry way. You just survived what could have been certain death. Wouldn't you like to do this for others as well? -
Don't have this sort of mentality. 'Tis what created most KoS, people get KoS, and become KoS bandits.

True, people need to grow some balls, and take the risk of communicating with one another like a man. Some KoS is ok, but the proportions are unrealistic now. -

I know part of who sees who first is luck, but try to cut that down by playing as tactfull as possible. When you see someone else before they see you, and you hold them up, they might just be a bit more talkative than before, Still, players don't communicate enough. -
This is a goddamn awesome idea, why didnt we think of this? Thanks man, this will make everything twice as tense. This will be better with more unique customisation options, because now, pretty much everyone looks the same. I mean, in real life, you'd know what your mates look like. Should be the case in DayZ as well. How about cell phones? You could get your buddies number, and call him up in game, for if you need to know his location or something. With batteries and perception, ofcourse.

Removing saline and making ammo much more rare?

Even if there is a massive hord of dangerous, fast zombies nearby, that would devour you within a minute if you fired your gun? Would you do it then? -
Clipping through the firestation/fall damage

By agreeing to participate in the Alpha state of the game, you basically agreed to test the game for any bugs. Which means your sole purpose should be to find bugs, and make an effort to make everything better. Well, you found a couple. How does that ruin one's experience? It should make you happy, as now you have something to report! Are you saying you don't play to test, but just to play the game early? Tsk tsk. -
Fair enough, i also shoot players who don't move and don't communicate. IF he's armed. I let unarmed players go. Hell, have a nice talk with me and i might give you loads of stuff. I'm not condesending or something like that, so nothing anoying there.
-
Depends on the player who is holding them up. If the guys i hold up talk to me instead of running or trying to kill me, 9 out of 10 would be alive. Instead, i had to shoot them.
-
If i hold you up, and you talk to me instead of running/trying to kill me (even though you know there is a 95% chance i will shoot you) you'll get out of it alive, with most of your stuff (i might take your gun, i dont want you to shoot me in the back). Good enough reason?

Winter Survival: The Northern Expedition
Greaves replied to DevilDog (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Awesome idea. If southern Chernarus (currently all of Chernrus) isn't hardcore enough for you, move north! Also, people wouldn't be able to camp on sniper mountains for long (without a nice bright fire which gives away their position). People still respawn in the south if they die in the north, ofcourse. Which makes it even more hardcore and tense. -
LOL, that beats my experiences. 2 of my friends and me trapped a guy into an ambush at the NEA, and told him to put his hands up. He listened to us (which was surprising, after all the runners) but didnt answer any of our questions. Then after about 4 minutes he started typing in chat, thanking us for not killing him. Nothing after that, so we got bored, took his weapon (cant have him shooting us in the back) and let him go. Thats the most communication we ever got from anyone.
-
I'm new on this forum, (well, who isn't, really) and i've never seen this before. Thanks for the tip!
-
Reading this sort of gave me a headache, punctuation please. But yes, some people simply dont listen, and die as a result. If someone tells you to not move, then dont move. If he was going to shoot, he would have done so without talking. Unless you do something stupid. Like moving.
-
Indeed, but not listening and talking to me when i hold people up seems simply stupid. 'Tis not even about KOS, but about people not communicating in general. They'd rather die, apparently.
-
Nice.
-
And yet, i think you would like it if someone else left you alive, right? You wont believe how many players i have had in my scope already, but i let them go, even when i need their stuff. Because i would have liked it if they let me live, if the situation was reversed. I only kill if i see someone kill unarmed players, or if someone is a direct threat to me. And even then, i make a conversation first. Yes, 'tis more risky, but so much more fun and rewarding.
-
Try to play less like a game, and more like real life. Would you simply shoot everyone in real life if there was an apocalypse? Every human being? And thus reduce the survival of the human race even further?
-
Excellent.
-
I know where you are coming from, and combat loggers are frustrating, but one must not give up. Killing on sight must get so boring after a while, no? Just make an effort to talk to people, its way more fun. You can still kill them afterwards, but at least you had the balls to try something risky :)
-
Exactly. I wouldnt even mind if they still killed them afterwards, and i dont even mind people who kill unarmed players in some cases, because there are probably ruthless people in the world like that. If this didnt exist, i didnt have anything to hunt in DayZ. All i ask for is for people to speak when spoken to, or asked a question. Keeps it fun.
-
Because the game is not about killing? I simply dont want to shoot everyone. I'll play Battlefield if i want that. So heres the situation. I see you looting an airfield, and sneak up to where you are, without you seeing me. I tell you not to move, or i shoot. What do you do? Move and die? Or have a conversation with me, and possibly live?
-
I notice a lot of people here just assume they see me before i see them. This is not always the case. So i ask again, do those people prefer to die rather than communicating, and possibly getting away with your life? It seems pretty stupid. At least try to talk your way out and betray me, like a proper bandit. Although i try to do everything to prevent this, ofcourse.
