Dyslecxi shows just how amazing 1PP only is in NEW video.
Carpoor replied to Sidewinder24's topic in Gallery
Yeah I get it now. Tell ya what. Dirty Patriots Ho 3pp server is where I play. Scuba_Hazard is my tag. I'm up north. Just run to the top of a hill/building and periscope. You'll see me. Exactly. And after you'd shot them, they'd come on here and cry about being exploited from around a corner (because they had no idea where it came from so that's what it had to be) or start a KoS whine thread. -

If you want to be out in the open all the time that's your call. Numpad turns your little box of view. It doesn't act as peripheral haha. It's still in a little box. lol. Your walkin down the street in electro. I'm sighted in on you in first person. Where am I? And for what it's worth, if you like to walk down the street in any major town/city, no view point rules are going to help you. By the way, I couldn't care less about the view. All your arguments are backed by opinions, no facts. -

All of his points on perception apply just the same in 3rd as they do in 1st. I've had several players roll right on by me while I'm in a bush on servers allowing 3rd. If someone's focus isn't on you or where you are, they just might not see you. I completely agree with his remarks about his adversaries making mistakes. They paid for them accordingly. Definitely was a great video anyways! The 'see around corners' debate is moot. Everyone has the same advantage so no one has an edge. Any of the towns in game have dozens and dozens of corners, windows, door ways, and so on. If you roll into a town and you're more worried about someone seeing you from around a corner than the plethora of blind spots the environment has, you're only limiting your own awareness of your surroundings. If someone is gonna ambush you, whether they're in 3rd eyeing you from behind a corner or in 1st watching from one of the hundreds of the maps second story windows, they're going to have the upper hand if you don't see them first regardless. Plus neither view is 'realistic' by any means. 3rd isn't for obvious reasons. The zoom function is a good point for 1st, but more importantly it lacks any peripheral vision. Any individual would have to literally be blind to not see someone lying in foot tall grass 1 meter from them wearing soldier fatigues. In 1pp there is no individual based eye relief for weapon sights, you can't see the brim of any ball cap or helmet, no darkness through sunglasses, no blocked vision from masks, et cetera, et cetera. They're both not 'realistic'. Neither can be 'realistic'. 'Oh, but 1st is more immersive!' Bull shit. That's realized through the player's perception, not what view point they prefer to play with. This is such a stupid argument from both sides haha. It's a video game. Christ, lol. -
<<<< Grass density needs to be improved. >>>>

^ Tree trunks, buildings, cars, terrain all still render. Number one rule for taking sniper fire, take cover. Grass is concealment, not cover. If you're a moving target at 500+ meters, either 1, they're gonna miss (99% of the time), Or 2, they landed an incredible shot, you're dead, and credit's due regardless of whether it was luck or skill. Even if you think the shooter is within a range where grass will still render for them, you're safer at a full sprint, then laying in some grass out in the open. -
possible solution to 3PP imbalance?

Bingo. Hardcore rainbow six fans know bout this. Place a sticker (dot, X, etc.) on center screen when sighted in. Peel off when done. -
Poll: Should a logout timer be implemented
Carpoor replied to soapsalesman's topic in General Discussion
... There is a poll for this in the top 5 current threads. EDIT: NVM, you're one min late. That explains it. My bad ha. -
 What's even more impressive is they're going to hit the million mark just after alpha launch. Plenty of indie and what not game studios have sold over a million. Not to many have sold a million with a description above the 'add to cart' button that flat out says, and quote "...We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage ...". And just below that ... WARNING: THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING.

I would love to see my character or another player's face plant and roll down a very steep hill after trying to sprint down it with a full load of gear. lol Cracks me up just thinkin bout it. Scoped in on a guy going full speed down hill head over heels till he hits a bush or a tree to slow him down. I don't think I'd even try shootin at him after that.

I never played the original, why is there 3rd person?
Carpoor replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
If Arma or DayZ were realistic shooters, realistically, 90% of the people playing it wouldn't hit shit further than 20 ft. from them let alone 300 meters. And I bet half would die several times before realizing how to operate any of the game's weapon's safeties. It's not a simulator, it's a video game. -
Exactly. Today, a guy opened a door on me in a house. He was prone with nothing in his hands and said 'friendly!'. I squeezed off a few but pulled my sights to avoid him. Could have lit him up since he was bare handed, but instead just said 'okay, friendly too' and we separated quickly. Earlier this week, walked up on a guy shooting at a couple zeds with a mosin. I ran up behind him and clubbed him to death with my crow bar. A crow bar is all I had, I wanted his mosin, so I took it. Each interaction had with players is separate and unique. Carrying a personal vendetta that affects your decision making process will lead to the same repetitive outcome. I've been KoSd and I've KoSd many times. But this one time, a guy showed me how to fill my canteen. Thanks to player freedom, I always have my canteens topped off. lol.

To add to this, reloading an empty mag does take a minute and it should take a minute. Speed loaders and stripper clips would be a nice addition across all weapon platforms. Especially weapons like the m4 where a clear advantage would be had being able to zip 30 rounds into a mag vs hand loading every round. Being able to reload an empty stripper clip for later speed loads would be nice as well.

Fit to Fight, to stop overuse of firearms, maybe helping Kos
Carpoor replied to Karmaterror's topic in General Discussion
Since the character's in game know how to fully operate any weapon in game, what type of ammo is needed, reloading, bolt operation, using every different sight properly, swapping out or adding modifications, etc., we can probably assume they know how to handle a weapon without fear of hurting them self with it. The will to survive will trump aches and minor pains, but not starvation, dehydration, serious injury or illness. The game already covers these. Increased zombie threat due to noise is a great idea. -
What would be the point of wire cutters? First guy cuts a hole. Everyone else uses the hole till server reset. "Someone, a sniper, could camp the hole." People are lazy. They'll use an open hole any day over spending 2 minutes cutting a new one.

Camo - Trying to find someone in open terrain, with no reference point, wearing a brown hoodie and a black ball cap who's laying prone and remaining motionless would be near impossible. Movement is what blows concealment. Someone moving will catch your eye faster than the clown mask they're wearing. (Unless, of course, they're prone staring through a scope looking for prey) Regardless, ghillies would be sick. Storage - You want to carry around a box while you travel? Plus, if the server reset while the crate was on the ground, you'd lose it and all its contents. Horses - Any animals would be cool. They've been confirmed. Having to take care of them like a pet? First you want a box for more space and now a saddle bag as well? You're like a Day Z hoarder lol. Again with the resets. The horse and all it has on it would probably disappear upon reset. More Players - Full servers of 30-40 are plenty for normal play IMO. It's all about location. Balota, Cherno, and Elektro are usually poppin. Both air strips up North are usually the same. Wait around at any military base and company will arrive. 60+ players on a single map would be a frenzy haha. It'd be fun to try it out. Maybe load the maps up with more weapons, gear, and zeds as well with the sole purpose of increasing combat, PvP and PvE alike.

The amount of rounds needed to be pumped through an actual rifle to degrade parts like the firing pin, bolt, bolt carrier, buffer spring, rifle bore, etc would never be reached in a single spawn with the weapons currently in the SA. Plus, you'd need to tack on cleaning every magazine you have to prevent jams and have fresh ammo that's in good condition. Shooting the 5 year old ammo laying around in the game that's been collecting dust and soaking up moister would do more harm than not cleaning your rifle after you squeeze 30-40 rounds off at someone. As for engaging someone in a firefight, a jam means you clear, re-chamber, and fire. A mechanical failure means you better have buddies to cover you or your a free treasure chest. Weapon maintenance can be a fun and interesting mechanic for sure. But the execution would have to be very careful so that it doesn't end up being a tedious gimmicky chore that lacks or contradicts realism and can unexpectedly lead to the loss of one's current spawn's effort.
