UnOfficial I Love 1.7.1 Patch Thread!
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to WilkyWilks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
-No more global/side chat -Darker nights -Creepy new sounds -The infected can see! -No starting weapon -AK ammo spawns now I actually want to die and lose my nvg/m249/m4a3/m1911/frag just so I can run around the beaches and help others. I tried before but got a 9mm in the face 70% of the time. -
Once you have the best equipment there isn't much else to do than search for camps & vehicles. Have you tried placing a tent since the update? * [FIXED] Tent placement is completely screwed (now can place anywhere except in building) seems like it'll be a lot easier to hide them in the trees now.

For the love of GOD! Think about the children!!

Only glitchy zombies I saw were some that seem to be stuck inside a building and another one that looked like it fell from orbit. LOL @ thread title, I expected sarcasm -
My Issues with the 1.7.1 Changes
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to n00baphile's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I must be a fucking god at DayZ, I haven't fired a shot in at least 3 days and since the update I have looted a bunch of cities, the NW airport, a heli crash site and about 5 tree stands, without aggro'ing anything. It's harder, but still far from impossible. Move with purpose, be aware of your surroundings. -
Post Spawn Loot Comments here ONLY

Its absurd to think that everyone that got banned is a cheating hacker.

He posted that on another forum. -

Rocket himself posted time after time.... nobody was banned for picking up weapons/items in-game. -

is dayz becoming over saturated in the media?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to thoxon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My post was more directed at esaciar's comment "Part of the draw is that 'cult/underground' perspective" You might be onto something, but really whats the worst that can happen? It's not like Rocket has investors and has to meet deadlines and please his publisher. This started as (and still is) a free mod, any publicity is good publicity. -
M249, m1911, nvgs, frag grenade And I already have it.

OMG more LLJK goon hacking!!!!!!

I hadn't realized taking the game servers down for 30minutes and banning a crap load of cheaters destroyed a game. Are the servers still being "nuked"? Are people still playing the game? Is development still going to continue? -

We're going off topic here, but why does it matter? You can walk around a coastal city and have basic guns in under 10minutes. Spend some time running to NW airfield, stopping at tree stands along the way, and you're armed with some of the best weapons in under an hour. The problem was never that players were armed, it was that players with nothing to lose were armed. If you spawn with weapons, people don't care about dying until they have a better weapon. It'll be the same with no weapon, but your no longer a threat to people who DO want to survive. -

I hear that, all these posts that translate to "If DayZ is going to be a successful game, you have to add everything we see in COD!" really piss me off too. Makes me wonder why they thought they'd like the game in the first place. -

Congrats on finding DayZ before it became popular? But don't be so selfish, if you don't want the rest of the world to enjoy the game you play, go find a new more obscure game. Enjoy DayZ for the experience you get while playing, not for how many people know or don't know about it. -
Is it worth keeping the PDW for my friend?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to Pomegranate's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The only thing I disliked about the weapon was I ended up with a sidearm inventory full of bandages because I was using ammo for an mp5 and that has to go in the main section. It didn't leave much space for items. -
If You Could Add 1 Weapon to DayZ...

I get bored by all these "reality checks"
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to The Toolman (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The fact that you mention all those unrealistic examples just goes to show how people can't help but notice when something in a simulation doesn't make sense in reality, even if that person doesn't want it changed. So, you can't blame people for wanting to make simulations as close to reality as possible. When we're cyborgs or giant blobs of goo slithering around cherno consuming zeds, then I'll jump on the "who cares about reality" bandwagon, until then I want it real and "boring". -
ALT-F4 or just plain DC'ing....cheating?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to infinitegrim's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I totally follow your whole line of thinking and terminology. What I fail to understand is why you think someone is a hypocrite when they complain about the bandit system being flawed, and then later about people disconnecting during combat. How the fuck do you find those two opinions hypocritical? You just seem like someone trying to justify their actions by insulting those who call them out. You can hide behind your "just came here to make a dumbass comment" routine, but you wouldn't be posting in this thread if you didn't have an opinion. -

Vehicles are rare, the parts are everywhere. Am I the only one who thinks this is backwards? Shouldn't broken down vehicles be all over the place? The people turned into zombies, so where did all their cars go? I think it would benefit the mod if there was an abundance of vehicles around the towns/cities. BUT!! make the parts very rare. Things like tires, scrap metal, & jerry cans should be semi-rare, maybe a bit less chance of spawning, but still found in most places. On the other hand, fuel tank parts and engine parts should be extremely rare, like on par with GPS/NVGs/etc. And you could only find those parts in gas stations and industrial areas. This would make it more difficult to get car parts, but easier to get a working car once you've obtained those rare parts. Also, it would be easier to stash a working car in a built up area, because there would be other cars sitting around. Another advantage of having more vehicles on the map is the containers. A survivor could use a car as a base for scavenging, dropping all his extra loot into it while he goes out and gets more, or searches for those rare parts to get it going. Which this means more possible places for us to find loot. The downsides I see are server load and hackers. Obviously more cars means more load on the servers, and since there are ways to dupe items, people could get a bunch of cars going from just one part. But, I don't think it's such a huge problem considering it's also possible to just spawn in items and vehicles already.

When you approach a city or town and zombies spawn, your computer is doing the work for those zombies. So if you have problems with FPS when you approach a city, one solution would be to follow someone else into the city, if they spawn the zombies, you won't have to do the calculations and should have a better frame rate. It seems most of us have no problems getting playable FPS even in major cities. So your claim that your rig "should do" is just your opinion. Either lower your settings, get a better computer, stop playing dayz, stay away from major cities, or do what I said above and let another players computer do the work when approaching zombies.

Why do you assume the dev team is stressed out? If anything I would think the popularity would keep them focused and motivated on the project. And all the bitching and whining going on tells Rocket he's on the right track.

His intention was to stress people out.
