Official US 1040 Colony Thread
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to hunter2123's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Kenwei, why didn't you tell them over teamspeak that you blew up the compound legit? Why didn't you inform them that they banned an innocent? You act all high and mighty here on the forums, protector of the innocent and all that bullshit. But, you are the reason that person was wrongfully banned, you knew your actions would appear as hacking. On teamspeak you acted like you knew nothing about what had just happened. If you cared at all about the dude that got wrongfully banned you would have said something. I'm not saying your evidence isn't valid, but your running a smear campaign against 1040 rather than actually taking the steps to get it blacklisted. "oh i don't wanna take the 30 seconds to file a report...but I spent hours recording this video where I get some poor guy banned because I disguised my attack as a hacker attack" Yeah, you're really saving the DayZ community. -
Military Spawns are Absurd
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to Forceflare's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You fail to understand that this game is in development and can change. Farming loot is just about the most unintuitive and video game'y thing in dayz. I seriously doubt farming loot is what rocket intended. -
Military Spawns are Absurd
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to Forceflare's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The whole idea of making military gear rare is stupid when you have a system where items just respawn. Like someone else said, you can just pick everything up and magically new stuff appears. Was this "farming" intended? Because it's really easy to do and when you mostly find garbage in the barracks I can understand why people do it. My suggestion is to add more loot to the high value military spawns. Make it like the hospitals where you always find more than you can carry. I'm not saying find every weapon every time. But, those 5.56 and 7.62 ammo boxes should be plentiful, making farming the barracks more difficulty, but visiting it is usually more rewarding. -
Something I really like about DayZ is the lack of setup/intermission. The world is persistent, if someone dedicated their time, they could literally play dayz 24/7, even sleeping(irl) while laying in a forest(in-game). The only time you are pulled out of the experience is when you die. Add to that the massive world and hive server and it's no wonder DayZ is doing so good. Top down view would ruin the immersion of a simulator like Arma/DayZ.

Can the person who is attacking US 1040 with a distributed denial of service attack please stop? If you're upset with the administration, go post in the server reporting forum like a mature adult. -

Good luck with this. I really hope it works out, not enough people are doing things like this. -
What does it take for you to end someones life in DayZ? Are you the type to shoot on sight? Do you wait to see a weapon? Do you wait for them to notice you? What are your rules of engagement?

ghillie suit = bullet proof vest???
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to Nos Reves's topic in New Player Discussion
Aim for the head, I just dropped 3 bandits with the winchester slugs. One took two shots but the other two were 1 shot in the head. One ghillie, one bandit skin, and one camo skin, I don't think the skin makes any difference. -
I've seen lots of people complaining about servers that remove 3rd person view. I just wanted to mention a couple things that might help people use 1st person better. Who knows, you might actually start to like it and switch over to 3dp:off servers, since there's no looking over objects in first. -Turn off head bob (options>game options) I see people complain that they get motion sick if they play in first person, turning off head bob will help prevent that. -Double tap (-) on numpad when indoors. First person by default is a little zoomed in, which is great for seeing distance outdoors. But indoors it feels like you're bumping into the walls constantly. So double tapping the - key zooms it back out and gives you a larger field of view. And for some reason I don't have as much problem moving about inside buildings. -Crank up the aiming deadzone (options>game options) This might not be for everyone, but I enjoy playing with the deadzone at its highest most of the time. This means the crosshair can move around the center of your screen without your body moving with it. It's great with a flashlight, or when you're trying to hide while keeping your aim on something. -Hold left Alt key for freelook (or double tap to toggle) - I'm sure most people know this, but it's worth mentioning for newer players. Hope this was helpful to someone. Edit: Also check out Post# 75 for details on how to modify your field of view in Arma2.

People who play 3rd person
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't want to insult you Megatron, but you quoted my post that says stuff like "We all have different opinions." and "I'm not saying you guys are doing it wrong, or that 3rd person is the wrong way to play. To each their own" and then go on to tell me I'm selt entitled and "My problem is i want to impose my opinon on everyone" blah blah blah. You obviously don't listen to a fucking word anyone says and just go on and on about how 3rd person needs to be in the game. If you'd pull your head out of your ass for half a second you might be able to see that I wanted to discuss the exploits possible while in 3rd person, and if they're actually exploits. I shared my opinion on the subject, for just that, to share my opinion. I'm not going to keep silent about what I think, just becasue it might not be profitable for BIS/Rocket, that would be fucking stupid. I always speak my mind no matter how contrary my views are. I could easily turn your whole stupid post around on you by saying you want to impose the option of 3rd person on everyone. YOU NMONSTER! But, I understand we all have our own opinions, you have that one, I have this one. We're just translating our brains thoughts into words here on the screen. We can't help but think what we think. It's not your problem nor mine, it's actually what makes being human so great, we're all free thinking, opinionate, and passionate about our beliefs. That said, I still respect others opinions, which you clearly tried to ignore. -

Rocket, don't charge money for the maps please
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to DieBrotmafia's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wouldn't your wife bitch at your for "wasting" money on the game when you pay full price upfront? I think maps (in dayz) are a perfect thing to charge for. I've gotten an absurd amount of enjoyment out of the current map, and I'm still not bored of it. Not having all the maps hardly excludes you from the community, this isn't a game where the map switches and you get kicked for not having the DLC. -
People who play 3rd person
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I thought your post was directed at me because I was the person who mentioned looking over walls to be exploiting the system, like duping and scripting. I share the opinion that 3rd person should be removed. But, It's still in the game. Just like nametags, kill messages, side chat, and cranking up your gamma. We all have different opinions. Let me ask you this... why does it suddenly become exploiting when your 3rd person camera clips into an object and looks through it? It's in the game after all....going by your (and others) logic as to what is considered exploiting. People can claim that the video game can't properly simulate you peaking over a low wall, but you can even look over walls that are over your head, walls that no average human could ever hope to see over. I'm not saying you guys are doing it wrong, or that 3rd person is the wrong way to play. To each their own. But when people justify looking over walls because "it's in the game" I just can't keep quiet. -
High-end computer cannot run dayz?

Start up Arma2 operation arrowhead and run the single player mission "Benchmark", then change a setting, run it again, do this until you get the best results. -
Rocket, don't charge money for the maps please
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to DieBrotmafia's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've made some maps for other games, much smaller than we see in Arma/DayZ so I know the massive amount of time and effort it it takes to create something that massive and detailed. I wouldn't mind paying for new maps. Also, OP the "minecraft model" is releasing a product that's still in development for a reduced price. Minecraft didn't have developer created maps that take thousands of man hours to make, so we can't really compare the two when it comes to things like this. -
People who play 3rd person
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wow you are just full of yourself. If you'd bothered to properly read the post, I said LOOKING OVER WALLS was exploiting the system just like hacking and duping also exploit the system in ways the developer didn't intend. So yeah... nobody put 3rd person in the same category as those, just go slap yourself. Also, you're doing exactly what you claimed others were doing....so irony was right. You're here telling us how first person is somehow a watered down version of the real game. Any other words of wizdom oh holy gaming master?
