I think those two screen shots are very.... boring.

Acting entitled because you helped alpha test a free mod...... priceless.

Bells and whistles

I agree Brickle. I think the weapons are like this right now because Arma2 mainly has military gear, hopefully in the standalone it'll be more civilian type weaponry. The non-russian weapons are there because in the "story" of DayZ the US and UK came to help with the infection. As can be seen by the British weapons at the helicopter crashes and the US humvee wrecks scattered all around the map. Which might mean that other countries aren't infected, so they're maintaining the GPS satellite network. Even in an apocalypse I'm betting the GPS network would keep going for a long time. I might be wrong about that, but it would seem silly to make it dependent on the surface. Agreed about the drinks. I would like to see that extended to the food as well. A can of food should be rare, forcing players out into the wild to hunt for meat. And when I say rare, I don't mean impossible to find, I mean like you search a supermarket and find 1 or two cans, not 10+ like it is now. There should be enough to keep you alive, but not enough to refill your blood level. -
Alpha testing is over for mod
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to RECphantom's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I play the game. When a hacker kills me, I spawn and start over. The best part of the game is the social aspect, and that needs no gear to happen. -
You're done with DayZ? Good, GO! There's the door. Don't expect them to "shut it down" just because you get too emotionally invested in your items/vehicles. Plenty of us still enjoy the game, hackers and all. Would it be better without hackers? Sure, but it doesn't suck because of them, respawn and try again. If you can't handle starting over, you're playing the wrong game to begin with.

They all should be as rare as the coyote. -
What Is you'r View on the crossbow?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to designidea's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Something strange happened when a friend and I tried to hunt animals with the crossbow. Whenever he would kill an animal and I would gut it, neither of us could get the "gear" option to show up. -
So true, I watched some of his DayZ videos and the amount of times he 'walks in a circle' out in the open while talking about being sneaky is funny.

Good video

So...with that attitude, you're posting this... so other can cheat too?

Official US 1040 Colony Thread
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to hunter2123's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm not frustrated or butt hurt. I'm slightly annoyed at your ignorance, so I posted what I thought about your actions. It's clear that you went into the compound with the intention of secretly placing sachel charges, and waited for the perfect time to strike. I'll admit it was a great work of terrorism. But, why let some poor soul take the blame and get banned? You knew what was happening, and you just sat back and let it happen. What's that legal term? Being an accessory to the crime? Like I've said before, they're not "my buddies" they're people who run the server I frequent. They've been nothing but nice to me and I've met some really nice people on their teamspeak and enjoyed many hours of DayZ. They started the colony so I went there and checked it out. I'm trying to make the most out of my DayZ experience. PVP gets old... you know? I'm the joke? I'm not the one who is in a general discussion thread trying to get a server blacklisted. Your "just posting this here" but then couple days later.. "Oh here I edited it better!" but yeah, you're not trying to get them blacklisted....because you said so...right? -
Obviously there's no way to block off people using teamspeak/mumble/vent/xboxlive/skype to talk to one another. There's always going to be a way to circumvent any protection. So, it's pointless to even talk about that. But, what if DayZ had better voice options than teamspeak? Except they kept with the spirit of the game. Meaning, you might be able to whisper so people have a hard time hearing you, but people really close would still hear you whispering into your radio. Or other things like having to find a radio before you could talk over distances. Or jamming devices and other ways to tie the communication into gameplay. It would be great in my opinion. But, with it being so easy to circumvent stuff like this, is there any point? (example, in game map vs online loot map, the alternative is better & easier to find) At which point would you get fed up and circumvent the game to talk with friends? How good/bad does the system need to be in order to keep you "playing"? Or is gaining ANY tactical advantage over other people enough of a reason? (I'm not suggest anyone is doing it wrong, I'm just curious what everyone thinks about the subject. Maybe our feedback will help the standalone.)

Better than teamspeak

I know about ACRE. I'm trying to get a more theoretical discussion going here. Ignoring what is possible in the MOD or what has been done before in arma... my question being, what would it take to sway you over to the games communication tools. Long range communication? Silent mode? -

I was involved in a couple of those altercations, but mostly I just bag and tag :D

Disconnected in a car. Can't move. Any suggestions?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to patdabaker3's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was playing earlier today and lost connection while in a Ural, when I got back in I was standing inside the Ural, all I did was walk away like it wasn't there. Happened to me with the Van as well. -
L85A2 AWS or M4 CCO SD, which one are better for solo gameplay ?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to Verticalslum's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
M4 sd is the better choice from what you've said. Its so nice being able to drop zombies without alerting others (or players). And if you're playing medic it'll be better for helping people getting swarmed by zombies, without scaring them away too much. If you get sniped at, the best thing to do is run anyway, so the low range of the m4 isn't too much of an issue. And you have the as50 in your backpack for any distance shooting. -
I personally would get rid of it, but you won't be banned for using it. That said, I do believe they monitor people who use hacked gear to see if they use it often. For example if every time someone died their friend gave them hacked gear, I wouldn't be surprised if they got a global ban eventually. Also worth mentioning that you could get banned from a specific server if the admin sees you with it.(or finds it on your dead body)

Thanks for the offer, but I have too much gear myself. L85, Winchester, 1911, and all the other goodies. Plus extra nvgs and mil flashlight(best item in the game). I've been looking for someone to take it off my hands, but no luck so far. I prefer to roll the dice and hope the next person I see doesn't kill me on sight. But either way, they'll be getting my gear :D
-
Actually, killing you might speed things up. Moving that much gear from one player to another can be a pain.
