Can you enter unlootable buildings and is it worth it.
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to zqpmxn's topic in New Player Discussion
Any building you can enter will have loot spawn. They're good places to hide vehicles & tents tho(or look for them). -
Most Useful Weapon..Your Thoughts
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to Meeshe's topic in New Player Discussion
AKM all the way. You can 1 shot the zombies and it's deadly against humans. The ammo is pretty common too. M14aim is great too since it's also 7.62 and has the aimpoint. But, the ammo is semi-rare and it's not full auto. -

Would getting your blood level back up to a normal level fix trauma caused by a gunshot wound, zombie bites or an axe to the face? I personally think the bloodbag should go, and wounds should take time to heal. But, I believe there are too many limitations in the mod for a system like that. -
Does sidechat ruin anyone elses game?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Can't hacker reports be done through group chat? You know, the channel when you are in the lobby, the green text. Pretty sure the admin can even see direct chat text if he's looking at the console, so there's also that option. (or... forums and other means of communications outside the game.) But, I get it. People like to have a place to vent to a large audience when they get killed by hackers. Just like a tree falling the woods... If a legit player dies to a hacker and there's nobody there to hear about it.... -
Does sidechat ruin anyone elses game?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
3rd party voice applications could represent radios that you and your friends decided to use for communications, on an encrypted channel. Although I don't share his opinion on this, I see his logic. Side chat on the other hand is a radio with unlimited range & perfect quality that everyone in Chernarus(or whatever map) has and they're all sharing the same channel. Not only is that idea stupid to me in the context of a zombie apocalypse, but its existence drastically affects peoples behavior. Rather than their focus being on the game world and whats happening around them, the focus is on blue text scrolling past your eyes. There is no fog of war when people can communicate so easily at any time to any person. I play DayZ because it tried to distance itself from the normal video game ideas we see in almost every other game on the market. The sad reality is people are so used to this garbage they feel lost without it. At least that's my take on the situation. -
I'm guessing there will just be a new section added to these forums for standalone, but the domain is dayzMOD.com so I thought I'd ask.

250+ vehicles and Max vehicles?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to MastaChggf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It means they've modified their server so WAY more vehicles spawn everywhere. In normal default DayZ vehicles are rare and sought/fought after. I personally think it's kind of cheesy when vehicles are everywhere. It takes away the novelty of finding or seeing one. -
Is it worth starting now?

Don't be so scared of hackers. You're in the USA so join the server 'US 303' and enjoy a main hive server with an active admin. I play there mostly and haven't been teleported in ages. There's thousands of servers, so find a good one and stick to it. Besides once you learn the ropes being killed by a hacker once in a while isn't such a big deal. As for your original question, I'd suggest getting it. Not only for DayZ mod but also Arma itself. There are lots of other mods and game modes that are amazing. Not to mention it's been out for years so there are literally thousands of great custom made missions to download from the web. Also, all the custom maps currently in the DayZ mod won't be in the standalone upon release(if ever), so you'll miss out on those if you don't try the mod. Watch some youtube videos if you're not convinced. Other than DayZ, some terms to seach for are... -arma2 wasteland -arma2 ace -arma2 city life -arma2 domination -shacktac -tavania -namalsk -

I understand your pain, but if you don't want your DayZ experience to be about PVP, don't worry about standing a chance against other players. Don't play their PVP game, just incorporate them into your game. I've played regularly since July, and I've only had to trade bullets less than a dozen times. And almost all of those times have been me killing people who threatened me. Rarely did I engage and lose, because I'm not out to get a kill, I'm out to survive and play my own game. The people I've killed have died because they put themselves in a situation where killing them was my best(or only) option. To me DayZ is a zombie apocalypse survival game, and in a zombie apocalypse there are other survivors who might want to kill me. It's only a PVP game if you play the part of one of those P's. -
Opinions on this behaviour

Seems staged, he probably did this just to get views on his youtube video. So.... not that different from frankie. Not saying the victim was in on it, just that the griefers actions were motivated by the video and the reaction he expects to get from it. -
Yeah, it's a hacker, I've met a few dogs running around Cherno, I usually talk to them over direct and they leave pretty quickly. I don't think those type of troll hackers enjoy it when their "victim" knows whats going on and doesn't really care. I've even run into some rabbits doing the same.

If you're just playing a game why don't you run your game at 640x480 on the lowest graphics settings? You're just looking at pixels on the screen after all, it doesn't matter how good or bad they appear to your brain.... using your logic. -
You kill people from over 1600m in DayZ? I wasn't aware the view distance would even allow for that.

The proof doesn't correspond with what he was banned for. OCN said he was banned for duping sachel charges, they said he only came in with 4, while the evidence they supplied shows him joining their server with a full backpack of sachels and 3 in his main inventory. Clearly they mis-read the logs and don't want to admit it. The radio and it's legitimacy has nothing to do with this case. I'm all for banning hackers/dupers/etc, but only when the evidence is valid.

I could argue that they're making it more difficult for snipers like you because they're learning how and when they'll get sniped and probably avoid those situations in the future. If you weren't sniping at them, they wouldn't be learning anything. I find it just as baffling that people like you sit outside Cherno and snipe people. Killing people that have little to no chance to shoot back seems like you're taking the killing part of DayZ too seriously. If you're not being threatened, what's the point other than to come here and brag about clicking your mouse on people. But, to each their own, you probably enjoy what you do, and so do the clans who're training.

Does sidechat ruin anyone elses game?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I play almost exclusively on main hive servers and the only time I've ever used a 3rd party voice chat was back when US1040 had a public colony and I only ever used it while inside the colony. I even started a thread a long time ago about the possibility of making 3rd party chat useless by hiding the name & randomizing the server you join. I have very strong will power and can easily just ignore the side chat, but then what happens when someone uses side chat to talk to me? I will be perceived as not responding to their words(or demands) which could result in my death. Thanks side chat! I'm all for having a radio as an item, but that is no reason to keep side chat in its current form. Even if voice was disabled in side chat, I still wouldn't want it in DayZ. People can claim it encourages teamwork or makes things happen in game, but I disagree. I've seen plenty of teamwork and things happening on the main hive servers I play on. I've helped people with medical attention many times just by stumbling upon them. Sure, if you were in the woods with a broken leg and passing out, you'd be screwed for finding medical help without something like side chat, but that is part of DayZ that I enjoy more than anything. I've NEVER even considered asking for help outside the game. (forums, medical services, trades) I'm not saying I'm right and people who disagree are wrong, I'm just genuinely curious about the thinking of people with different opinions. I share my opinions to show where I'm coming from, not because I want everyone to feel the same. -

You sure that isn't some public servers modifying their files? I follow the patch updates pretty closely and this is the first I've heard of it, checked the latest couple patch notes just now and couldn't find anything about it. -

I guess I should have worded the first post better. I'm not really looking for your personal opinions about side chat. I'm looking for your opinions of why there is a trend in the DayZ community to enable it, despite the fact that DayZ has it disabled by default. A large part of DayZ for me is the isolation that it provides. When you can type out a message to the guy on the other side of the field, the tension is lost. Is this feeling of tension and isolation something that the majority of people don't want to be a part of DayZ? -

Hour delay per blood bag, increase time to transfuse. Balance achieved. Not to mention the players will now camp hospitals more to not only meet other players to get blood, but also because more people will flock to them for bloodbags. So the 'walk in and fill up on blood bags with ease' might not be the case after this is implemented. -

I feel like people are getting too caught up in the number 1. There's only a 25% chance of hitting below 200. And 12.5% chance of hitting below 100. Getting under a hundred from a piece of meat would be rare. -

Since there's side chat, it's a private hive. Nothing to see here, they can do whatever they want. -
Would DayZ exist without The Walking Dead?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to Nefarious (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket was inspired by the book & movie 'The Road'. It has no zombies, but I suspect he knew that an apocalypse survival mod for arma2 wouldn't play out very well without an antagonist, so he threw in some infected humans which were inspired by the '28 days/weeks later' films. I believe DayZ wouldn't exist without 'The Road' but that's just my opinion from listening to Rocket talk about his inspirations for it. If anyone hasn't seen the movie or read the book, I'd highly suggest checking it out(Read the book first). I hadn't seen or read it when Rocket mentioned it, and I'm so glad he did. It really paints a beautiful picture of what he's trying to achieve with DayZ. It's now one of my favorites, I've listened to the book twice and watched the film at least a few times. -

Changes sound good to me, the whole blood/food game is way too easy currently. Not to mention unrealistic and silly. Being shot, losing half your blood and then being back to 100% in a matter of minutes(with no preparation) was always a really disappointing part of DayZ to me. You really only need a hunting knife(one of the most common items in the game) if you know where fire barrels are located. I'm not saying groups should have it easy, and individuals have it impossible. But, groups should have some benefits to encourage people to approach others and group up. Lone wolfing should be doable, but extremely difficult and annoying, like it would be in a real apocalypse.(Especially when dealing with medical problems) -

I really like the direction this is heading. People asked for more incentives to not kill each other on sight, giving people the power to heal each other is a pretty good incentive. As well as making the risks for engaging in firefights even higher. Regarding the 1-800 random blood gain thing, go to http://random.org and put in 1 to 800 and generate a bunch of times. The results aren't game breaking in my opinion.
