Haha yeah, the community would be in uproar if that shit ever saw the light of day. But, it would work in a closed server environment. I wish more communities would embrace the hardcore aspect of dayz.

Sick = Death logic (if you don't have antibiotics).

^This is how I feel every time I walk up to someone in Elecktro, wave and say "Hi" and promptly get shot in the face or chased with a melee weapon. Except the latter is funny because I get to talk to them while they exhaust themselves and eventually give up.

Third person view removal from SA discussion
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
I never stated otherwise. I just wanted to reply to your dismissal of the whole notion of removing it, based on the history of it being in games made on this engine. With DayZ BI has taken a left turn, I don't think it's fair to throw out discussion of things like this. I didn't make any statement that they are going to remove third person view. So don't go off on me about it, I've had that debate a million times over, it never amounts to anything constructive. Mainly because people like you point to it's existence and refuse to even entertain the notion of a game without it. It's like if you let your guard down and discuss that possibility, you'll lose and they'll do it tomorrow. -
Kill on sight... my group is doing it now

Just because I'm prancing about singing german anthems doesn't mean you need to kill me. -
I don't know if I fully agree with this. Certainly being stealthy and tactical will get you seen less, but I don't think it will decrease your chances of being killed on sight. By dressing and acting stealthy and pointing your gun at everything, you make yourself look like a threat. If you're jogging down the middle of the road, with a bright red backpack and nothing in your hands, they might let you pass. That said, people adopting the high profile approach need to recognize that they'll put themselves in more situations where other people have to make that decision. Personally, I'd rather live my virtual life in the open than hide in the shadows, always checking my back, never trusting anyone. Sadly I feel like a lot of people look at someone in a bright red backpack running in the open, and think they need to "teach him a lesson". They see the game as some kind of survival competition, and their job is to make it harder for other people. It's like that movie Demolition Man where all the criminals get unfrozen and run amok, 75% of the players act out the role of a psychopath killing machine.

To the threads on server hopping.
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to pythonmsh's topic in General Discussion
There's a bit of a difference between joining a server and looting for a while but finding nothing but empty houses so you join another server. That's not too bad, it doesn't really affect others. It's the people who go to a good loot spawn area, hop from server to server and clean it all out. People spend hours pushing north to find it's been picked clean while everything around it hasn't been touched. You'll literally find military spawns with zombies but no loot. That happens when people spawn inside the loot area and then leave the server. Don't ruin it for others, find a server with loot, but don't loot servers. -

I would love a new one, but I'd rather have the original over just the text.

This is a really really bad ducking game
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to mark3236 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I look at it like these are the 3 weapons in the game, and they're pretty easy to find. These are placeholders, they're not what they appear to be. I think the majority of the firearms that make up the final dayz arsenal should be lacking in their accuracy. Sure, end game weapons when all is said and done should be better, but these are not "end game" weapons currently. -

Player 1: "I kill on sight because people combat log." Player 2: "I combat log because of all the people killing on sight." Welcome to DayZ. -

So... move up? Or ambush someone. I get it, accuracy currently sucks. I like that it sucks. Realistic or not, I like it. (I'm not really a fan of things like the butt stock changing accuracy tho, that's a bit strange.) -

No... that's Arma2 DayZ mod. I like how you call it a deathmatch when you can't sit back 800m and snipe people. -
Weapon and Ammunition Rarity (Discussion)
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to gesundheitk's topic in General Discussion
One thing that bugs me currently, is the tendency to find about 30,000 pistols and maybe 1 pistol magazine. Pistols should spawn with a magazine in them. But, rare, make it all as rare as possible. -

I like how people throw out these KOS threats like they're some kind of ultimatum. You made people quit the game, how that different from killing them? Or do you really need the gear? If you do... damn, you suck at dayz. -

Am I the only one that feels like... who cares if accuracy is bad in this game? I can hit zombies coming at me, that's enough for me. Hell, I can hit any zombie I can see with the M4, it just might take a couple shots. -
I haven't really used it much, but that link made it look like the Mosin had about a 4ft spread at 500m. That's bad? It's an antique from WW2.

How about a Sleeping System in order to save Character?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to gorillaCHEEZ's topic in General Discussion
I did, it's your punishments I dislike. I don't think characters should be sitting in-game as punishment for not sleeping. -
How about a Sleeping System in order to save Character?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to gorillaCHEEZ's topic in General Discussion
I would hate a system like this. That basically means if I get disconnected from the server, or it restarts, and I don't have the time to sit around waiting for it to start back up or my internet to work again, then I'm punished by having my character sit in-game until I return? No thanks. Too many situations where that would kill players unfairly. The real problem with keeping a character in-game is it's not a good way to simulate anything. Even if you gave them a shelter, sleeping bag and all the animations in the world. Keeping a character online after they've left is dumb because we can all wake up when we hear a noise. Sleeping should be preparing your place to sleep, laying down for 60seconds, getting the ability to click exit, then your character disappears. -
Anyone have advice on container usage to prevent loss in terrain?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
It works, but it doesn't work perfectly. It's hard to tell if you have room and you can't see everything on every container. I hope they change it so the in-hands view is the same as on the ground. -
How about a Sleeping System in order to save Character?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to gorillaCHEEZ's topic in General Discussion
I suggested this back in the mod. I really like the idea but there's some issues with it. Mainly what happens when a player didn't sleep but also didn't combat log.(losing connection, server restart) As for the punishments, I think it should be something to do with your health. If you don't sleep, you start sick, hungry and thirsty. To simulate sleeping on the open ground. Maybe depending on where you leave, it would change the severity. So if you had to leave and no time to sleep, you could duck into a building and save yourself a bit of punishment. I think the key is to implement this as a sleeping mechanic rather than an anti-combat logging thing. Otherwise players will hate it and it'll be boring like the logout timer in the mod. I am surprised such a HUGE part of survival isn't part of DayZ yet. You can't watch any type of survival video without them talking about sleep arrangements. I guess they don't have alt-f4. -
Why can't I reliad 5.56 20 round CMAG with 5.56 20 rounds?

Has anyone tried to start a group of friendlies? to combat KOS players?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to lord3n's topic in General Discussion
I believe the best way to improve this KOS stuff is to make people rely on each other. Make it so 2 or 3 guys can't effectively run around and thrive. If we get some mechanics in the game to encourage large (5-10 player) groups to roll together, the game would change for the better. Single players wouldn't be looked at like a walking loot bag, rather they would become potential recruits. If you killed him, he might join up with another group, making them stronger and your group weaker.
