Force mic chat: skype etc.. thru dayz?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to sai (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
When you're in the real life military and you're next to someone with a radio, when that person talks into their radio, you hear it on the radio and also from them. This is exactly what would happen in-game if the mic was forced open. How is that not realistic? You're suggesting we keep an unrealistic element of the game so it makes it easier on the player..... this is dayz. -
Pretty sure that when people talk about Rocket banning, they mean banning the player from DayZ. I don't think anyone is assuming Rocket or BI could issue a VAC ban, that's just some nonsense somebody assumed other people meant, and now it's derailed the thread.

Everybody is so quick to call hacks. Why wouldn't the supposed hacker just go to the same spot on another server, join that server, kill him, then quit again? If he's watching the stream it would be painfully easy once he knows which server they're playing on. That's some class A bullshit right there. There's a few reports of script kiddies, nothing with very much evidence. This isn't the mod sunshine, the hack/script situation is completely over hyped.

Anyone have any good stories involving the pen & paper? I know it doesn't work anymore, but when it did, anything interesting happen with them?
-
If you're gonna do that, at least toy with them a bit. Make them drop everything and then execute them. Shoot their legs and bandage them then force feed them something that will kill them. Use your words to disarm them, show them you can use force, but give them a chance to comply before doing it. As a friendly survivor I'm so sick of dying randomly or as soon as we see each other. But, I can't get enough of the situations where people fuck with me before they do it. It's refreshing.

Tell me you didn't click a big red agree button? I hope not, that's what causes all these bugs.

Please eliminate server restarts

I agree, and I think steps should be taken early on in development to fix whatever causes the lag or fps drops. The mod was limited in what they could fix because of it being a mod, but this isn't. -

I added the red text cause I felt bad that someones only post on these forums was telling me they restart cause of loot. -
Please eliminate server restarts
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I understand this can't happen right now guys. I'm talking about making this a long term goal of the game. Plan for no restarts. Right now, they're essential for the mechanics to work, I don't want to see that turn into a trend. -

Exactly! That's exactly the message I was trying to convey in my post above. -
466,406 survivors according to DayZgame.com

Nice, no wonder I was so confused, they told me to use that cheat sheet.

This won't be a problem when more civilian weapons are added.

how to discourage killing on sight - Rocket reat this
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to gamer222's topic in General Discussion
No. But, this does give me an idea. Introduce adrenaline into the game, in times of crisis players will gain better stamina. Killing lots of players will remove this effect. -
How can we make a players life more important than his gear?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to knawx's topic in General Discussion
We need more stuff that can't be taken away from us. For example, add some immunization shots that are rare, but once the player has taken them they'll be immune to certain diseases. Respawning will put you at risk again. Another strategy would be to make peoples storage devices disappear on death. So you can't just respawn and run back to your tent full of gear. You have to talk you way out of bad situations and run back to it. Yet another idea for this is to start the players off in a bad situation. Maybe you spawn with a sickness and it takes a while to fight it off before you're stable enough to do whatever. -
Force mic chat: skype etc.. thru dayz?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to sai (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Why wouldn't they use direct chat if they're so close to each other? -
Force mic chat: skype etc.. thru dayz?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to sai (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Just have the game keep your mic open for a very short range, like half the range of direct chat. Sure, people could circumvent it, but most wouldn't. It still allows people to use skype and stuff, but if they do it right next to someone, they'll hear them talking into their "radio". -
I tried reading that one, tried.

Yeah I can't see to make them work anymore, can't even read notes. Ever since the first patch.

Why would anyone subject themselves to being taken hostage?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to superkyle's topic in General Discussion
Why would you subject yourself to playing DayZ at all? Why engage in combat? Why not alt-f4? Why loot? Why not just server hop? It's all in the experience. Some of us prefer the memories over knowing we bested someone in video gamery. -
Hallo admin, is nice gear you having

Hallo admin, is nice gear you having
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to wild_man's topic in General Discussion
Gear is pretty easy to get in this game, and there's no tents to store stuff in, so people would probably share whatever extra nice stuff they have with their friends. I wouldn't be surprised seeing a group have all nice stuff. People enjoy looting, even if it's not for themselves. -
You do realize how fucking stupid you sound saying that shit when the game is in alpha...?
-
If you make a decision to kill or not to kill, then it's not really senseless killing. Killing on sight is when people just gun you down regardless. Your mere existence is a threat to them.
-
Senseless killing in DayZ has the moral depth of most other video games out there, in that it sends enemies to kill you for no other reason than you're a player in the game.
