Why do people think there would be more civilian weapons than military?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to captainvette2112's topic in General Discussion
Maybe Balota, but I seriously run up and down the map hitting up all the military bases and usually see nobody. I think everybody assumes they'll get killed, so they stay away. That, or they server hop before joining the populated servers I frequent. -
Third person view removal from SA discussion
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
I don't know why you guys like to turn this debate into some kind of personal jab at third person players. We're talking about game development, if you can't look at things objectively, your arguments will always be completely biased towards whatever suits you as a player. A lot of the people pushing for the removal of third person use third person view all the time. DayZ is all about using the tools we're given to survive and have fun in the world they've built for us. When we use those tools and feel like one of them makes things far too easy, or feel like the tool hurts potentially great situations, we're going to request that tool be removed from the game. Not because we will benefit, because the game will benefit. -

There's no risk & reward in third person view or being under the ground a foot. In real life, while you can hide better, you can't hide perfect, you have to expose yourself at least a bit to get a peak at something. In dayz, you risk nothing and see everything. -
Looks like he duped his body a bunch of times. Isn't there a glitch that does that? If so, you can't really call him a hacker, more like glitch abuser. Sort of like looking through the wall.

Removing chat function sucks for deaff players
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to redfirm's topic in General Discussion
I would expect most deaf gamers would use some kind of vibration or visualization system to interpret the sound coming from their speakers. -

What benefit? We're all subject to the same difficulty in hiding ourselves. Why dose the person abusing the camera get an advantage? Should we add some kind of crawl under the ground ability then? I mean, potentially I could camo myself and move really slowly across a grassy field, but in-game I stick out because undergrowth disappears at distance, so I wanna be able to crawl under the ground a foot but still see and stuff. And nobody should be able to shoot me until I poke my head up, even if they know where I am. Cause that would totally benefit gameplay, right? -

I can see how it would really suck being deaf playing DayZ. Some guy tells you to freeze over direct voice chat, you would just ignore him and get killed for it. But, I guess that's life. -

You're being a pretty petty bigger man. Focusing on all the insults instead of actually discussing the points I bring up. But hey, that's cool. Good day. -

Okay, I'll attempt to explain my stance to you. The whole mirror thing is dumb, if you can sit behind a wall 10ft in front of me and I can't see a mirror, then it's not justification for keeping third person view. Just drop that idea. You(and others) claim that if we want first person only we must be big PVPers. I've personally never killed or even injured another player in over 100hrs of standalone, and I can count my kills in the mod on one hand. So, I'm about the furthest from a big pvper that you can find. My humanity in the mod was over 60,000. The way I see it, the pvp'ers benefit greatly from having third person view. They can sit in the safety of complete cover, while either waiting for or watching their prey. They only have to expose themselves for a split second to take a shot, then quickly back down to cover. All the while, they're completely aware of their surroundings. So, while I can go to great lengths to follow proper tactics, clearing treelines and moving to cover, all in an attempt to loot some beans and not get killed. It's all for nothing because a guy can sit on his ass on some rooftop out of sight of everybody, see me coming and pop up and take the shot. Fuck third person, and fuck the horse it rode in on. If you don't want to be called stupid, don't say stupid things. I'm not really here to insult you, but I'm not going to censor myself if I feel like you're being an idiot for the sake of being an idiot. Don't reply to my posts and ignore the debate I'm trying to have with you guys. Simple. -

Exactly, that's why the third person proponents hate these threads because their only valid argument is "we got used to it". -
Third person view removal from SA discussion
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
There's a big difference between using third person view, and it being in a multiplayer shooter. Fuck dude, it's like you idiots try to be dumber and dumber in these debates, just to clutter the threads with bullshit nonsense. -

Because you can create a scenario in which we might not be able to see the mirror, that means invisible handsfree para-scopes are okay? lol -
Third person view removal from SA discussion
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
Dude, nobody actually dislikes using third person. Let's get that straight. Or at least, very few people dislike it to the point of where they won't ever use it. It's easier to see everything in third person. Everybody who plays DayZ has gotten used to running around in third person, because for most of us third person has always been an option. The difference of opinion comes from people who think the game should be harder on the player, and then those who will fight to the death to keep this easy option. The thread questions why people want an easy option in such a hardcore game. We're not trying to enforce our gameplay on you, we're trying to enforce it on everyone, including ourselves. -

They could add a mirror on a stick or a para-scope and a lot of people would be fine with it. Mainly because you can see the mirror and para-scope, and you have to hold it in your hands while using it, you can't sit there para-scoping around everything and while you hold a two handed weapon. -
Third person view removal from SA discussion
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
I saw the title and thought it might be an interesting debate. Sadly it's turned into another first vs third debate. Why do you guys want a comfort option in such a hardcore game as dayz? We all understand why third person works or is better, and we all understand the downsides of it. But why do people want it easier in this game? We all understand how a great nametag system can improve the game, but it also has its downsides. Most people can agree nametags would ruin dayz, so there's no debate. But, third person view is like an Americans right to bear arms, people will ignore all debate and reason while they clutch onto their precious para-scope. Why do you guys want an easier option in this game? Ignore it being third person view for a second and just look at it objectively as an easier option. Why is giving the player an easier time seeing his surroundings, better for DayZ? -
KoS isn't so bad, when you...
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
As if we didn't have enough threads discussing KOS. -
How is that fair to say? Rocket doesn't want dayz to be 24/7daylight, and ultimately it's his decision how the hive is run.

Logging out in a building like that is just bad sportsmanship to be perfectly honest. You are logging out in the most active area of the map after killing a bunch of players. You could easily have gotten shot trying to leave the building & area. Logging in a place like that gives you the option to join a low pop server and leave the area. What if the last guy in their team setup position with his sights on the door? Except you never come out, because you logged. You can't just say they didn't engage you, so you weren't in combat, you just killed a bunch of players in that building. You were camping and then you logged. How can you even argue that it isn't combat logging? Alternatively, what if some guy watched that building for half an hour making sure it was clear to enter, and then you log in and shoot him in the back? Kind of unfair and cheap if you ask me. If you doubt this can happen, it did all the time in the mod. One time I ran into the cherno military tents turned around to leave and somebody logs in behind me and boom, headshot. I only know because I turned around at the last second to see a female with an m4 in my face. Again, because of the massive lag that caused that strange situation, I don't really blame you for logging off, nobody likes getting killed to a bug/lag. But, if that didn't go down like that, I wouldn't have logged in that position. I always look at it like I've gotta play it out, even if I see nobody I won't log out in the middle of a military spawn, I always make my way to the wilderness first, you never know who is watching.

Will melee be improved to be more realistic?
bad_mojo (DayZ) replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
It's not a projectile. Where your axe model hits is where it hits, the crosshair is pointless. Not being able to melee indoors is a feature. You shouldn't be able to swing a huge axe in a narrow hallway. Pick up a knife or something else small(in addition to the axe) if you must battle zombies inside houses. ---- I don't really have much issue with the melee, it's already too easy to kill everything with one of the axes, and I want using a baseball bat to be difficult. The trick is to hit them in the head, and then keep hitting them while they're down, then backup and do it again. Always stay outside their range until they do their attack then rush in. -

Let's look at the situation here. 113860 is the current version. 133860 is the version in question. They're so similar, only one digit is different. The way development works, the numbers get bigger the more versions they release. If I recall, the last version was 113772, a difference of 82. Assuming that is average, to get up to version 133860, they would have gone through about 244 builds of the game. Like I said... it's a typo. Join the server in question with 113860, see if it works

That would be simply amazing.
