    The fuck are you even talking about? We're about to get our 4th(5th?) update in under a month. They've asked our opinion on weapons we'd like to see. They've tweeted and blogged recently about their current situation. Right before release Rocket was on a couple live streams taking countless questions from the viewers. Not to mention, all that during Christmas and New Years. Which rock have you been living under? Or what, is that not enough for you? You need 24/7 live feed into their offices? You want every broken build that crashes servers to be pumped out to 800,000 players?

    My opinion on Killing on sight...

    I feel like you're selling this game short if you believe the right way to meet people is on these forums. I bet you think the right way to communicate is with teamspeak. You're entitled to your opinion, but if I had that opinion, I wouldn't be playing much DayZ because this game would bore the shit out of me. Killing someone or being killed is so boring to me, I couldn't spend hours gearing up for that. But, I can easily spend hours gearing up for the chance to meet someone new, to have a new experiences in the game, to witness something incredible, to die in horribly terrifying ways. I've met a few friends randomly in dayz, ended up adding them to steam and on xbox live after playing for a few hours. While they might not be best of friends, for me there is something special about our friendship that stands above friendships arranged on a forum or clan site, or even a more organized game. We shared an experience early on, we put our trust in each other, we stood shoulder to shoulder and faced what dayz threw at us, it bonded us. While it might sound cheesy and all, it's the truth. The same philosophy is used in the workplace, coworkers will all go play paintball because it brings them together as a team, having a common enemy makes them allies.

    You bring up a valid point. Instead of clogging up the forums with all the bug reports, maybe the developers should setup some system where people can report these problems and other testers can also vote for problems they feel need the most attention. Oh wait. They already did that.

    If you want to make an actual point about that, shouldn't there have been a full first person server in the mod at all times? You know, so we couldn't simply say we don't like playing alone? I'm not going to go sit in an empty club and try to meet people, even if they have a dress code I like. Not when there's 5 more down the street packed to capacity at all times. "but if you'd just sit in the server and wait for it to fill up!" yeah, we've all tried. But, after a few days of doing that you get bored and actually want to play the game again. Stop acting like we just say we like 1st person to look cool or appear more hardcore. It's people like you who labeled us hardcore or whatever you want to call it, we just don't want 3rd person to be part of the game. Let them remove 3rd person and see how many of us complain. That's the REAL test if we're bluffing.

    How difficult should it be?

    I'm sick of putting myself in bad situations just to see if I can pull myself out of them. I want the game to give me no other choice but face situations that dire. If I had my way, I would set the game up so even the best dayz players have difficulty reaching full health, even on an empty server. Then I'd open the flood gates and watch the apocalypse happen. Make loot rare and the elements harsh I say! What do you say? How difficult would you like to see DayZ become?

    So... it being an alpha prevents you from having an opinion? Ignoring players and bugs, how difficult do you want it? How much of a challenge from the environment are you looking for in DayZ? Pretty simple question, has nothing to do with specific features.

    Food: Nonexistent

    In the mod there was very little loot in most of the smaller towns, so people said not to go inland until you get gear. But, in standalone all the buildings have interiors and spawn loot. Also, in standalone people can eat a lot more food, so those spawn towns get cleaned out pretty quickly. Just fill up on water and run through a forest inland, you always hit something. If you follow the roads, you'll only find looted buildings for a long time.

    Some unconventional weapons would be cool. Slingshot, moltov cocktail, taser, tranquillizer darts/rifle, spears, sledge hammers, pick axes, chains, flamethrower, machete, blowgun.

    Lots of suicide after mass wipe

    I actually killed my first guy yesterday. Met him on the west side of elecktro, which I believed to be the closest spawn to the military stuff, but he ran up to me screaming 'kill me! kill me! kill me!' and followed me around fists up. I laughed and said no but then thought about it and figured he needed a lesson on the new spawns. So I turned around and pulled the Mosin and put one in his head. It's sad when they're so hopeless that even I feel like putting them down.

    Dallas, Ken.. Why do you assume that the first person advocates don't play on first person only servers? Did I miss some posts by people saying they still play on third person? I know it was discussed why nobody played on them in the mod, but since they're populated in standalone, I'm sure everyone who wants first person is currently playing on them.

    Of course, I find a copy of Art of War and read a quarter of it, take a stroll, avoid death a couple times, try to pull it out, server issues so I log for a few minutes. Then I see this thread. The search continues!

    It's the whole weapon handling game mechanic that is hindering you finding your perfect configuration. They're trying to make guns and stuff handle differently by screwing with the mouse control. For example, if you have the cqb buttstock for the m4, I've heard you can move it around easier.

    I know it's not the same, but it's still a representation of your character. I'm hopeful they'll improve that screen in future updates, maybe they could actually show your character in 3rd person perspective. So if you're bleeding, you can see the blood coming from the wound, or if you're crouched or running or whatever, you can see it there.

    My suggestion for devs... Lock the FOV while playing. If you want to switch your FOV you need to quit and go to the main menu.

    Since 1st person only is being labeled as hardcore, maybe we should reduce the number of servers to just a few per region. That way people can't use the low populated ones to farm gear.(or avoid other players) It would also have the effect of pushing the existing players into populated servers. I would rather see one full server than see 20 servers with 2 or 3 people in each. I only play on 1st person servers now, but that will stop if they go the way of the mod and I can't find one with more than 5 people. I'm like Steak, I value player interaction more than I value the camera angle.

    You know, if that was even remotely true then I would totally agree. Except this game is painfully easy to survive in currently. 99.9% of kills on sight are not to get their loot because the killer is going to die without it. You can't find a decent weapon without stumbling on some bandages/rags & food. Unless that's your goal in the game, to kill people and survive off their items. Just admit you want to kill people and take their things, even if you don't need them. Don't blame it on the nature of this game. Don't try to blame it on combat loggers, just be proud of who you are and what you do. You're a murdering psychopath and you kill anyone you see. By KOS all people until logging is fixed, you're acting like a spoiled child who throws a tantrum and turns over the table when they don't like how the game is going. You're getting frustrated at combat loggers & lack of fixes, and instead of being mature and saying "it's alpha, it'll be fixed eventually" and trying to find some fun, you're taking out your frustrations on other people who might or might not have anything to do with the problem. Am I frustrated at being killed on sight? Nah, it doesn't really bother me. But, it does frustrate me when you guys try to justify it in this way on these forums. Let's pretend my brother died to an overdose, should I get a gun and go kill all the drug dealers I can find? Surely, they're all bad people because they probably lace their shit with bad stuff that will cause their customers to overdoes... so I'm justified in killing those people right? Because my brother overdosed on some bad drugs? No, because drug dealers are all different, some can be decent human beings, other can be dickheads who don't care if their customers die. It's the same with killing on sight because you think EVERYONE combat logs. You're making an assumption that isn't always correct, and then getting all defensive when I point that out. You're not doing a service to this community, you're simply pissing people off by killing on sight.

    Yeah, I can't even bring myself to put a container in a container, I'll put a medkit in them, but I feel like putting a plastic case inside itself being physically impossible makes it too much of an exploit for me to use. No point in getting used to doing something if it's probably going to be fixed at some point.

    Did I say combat logging is not an issue? I said deal with it until it's fixed. I've never combat logged, EVER. Fuck you for implying I cheat. Killing people on sight is legit, I never said otherwise. I said it was a dick move. Sigh. I made the comments that people will still kill on sight even when logging is fixed because this thread is specifically about using combat logging as an excuse to kill on sight. I'm allowed to voice my disapproval of killing on sight, and also my disapproval of using combat logging as an excuse for KOS. That's nice that you feel like nothing will ever change, I still have some shred of hope for this community to at least make an effort to improve the social interactions. Kill on sight is just so boring and unoriginal, you can still kill people and make it more interesting.
