Looking for a place to call home. I'm a 1st person player, < 100hrs and getting back into DayZ. I have a couple friends whom I've recruited to start playing and have been teaching them the way of first person only. I find first person servers more "mature", at least it feels like there's less hackers and encounters are more varied than their KOS 3rd person counterparts. I also hear private first person servers are even better than their public counterparts...are they? I'm cool with KOS...but when you're a bambi what's the point. I'd like to find a private server to call home. So in a nutshell, what's good guys and gals? I'm located in an EST time zone. Thanks! -cpan
Came here to agree. We have enough military games. If the military loot were super rare I think that would promote less KOS. I don't know how much less but coming across survivors and actually assessing your situation is tense, getting sniped walking down a road isn't. Is this guy in a plaid shirt and baseball cap a threat? Can I negotiate a trade? Maybe he has an extra can opener! I'm all about the player interaction and actually surviving. And sure, having a base for your clan or roaming clans with shootouts is great, I hate getting sniped out of nowhere for no reason when my character doesn't pose a threat. Sure I know that this will happen regardless and will happen but all the time gets old. I have CS:GO for that or a crap ton of other shooters I can log on to. Survive on brothers and sisters! -cpan
Fell off the roof of a firehouse in Elektro. Got pinned down from some gunfire, frantically looked for a ladder down and got too close to the edge. Sad, was the first contact I had with a player in some time.
Does anyone play pistol only? I'm debating this. I do not like to get "kitted" out in full military garb. I'm a regular Joe that will take any weapon at first but on my recent hardcore guy (I only play hardcore) I find myself wanting to give away my SKS and just stick with the 1911 i found and my wood axe. Both fit on me so it looks like I'm weaponless. My play style is that of the survivor/lone wolf/hero (no friends really play :( ). I'll try to barter with those I meet, stealthily go after bandits, help those in need etc. I like the challenge it presents. Anyone else play this way?
Hardcore Unite! I too am looking for good Hardcore servers to play on. I'm typically a lone wolf due to lack of friends that play but I never find many hardcore servers that make it into the teens in population that don't have silly names with 2hr restarts and mega loot etc. Day night cycle would be awesome, I'll check the two listed above but if anyone knows of a hidden gem let us know! -cpan
The issue is not shooting from it. The issue arises in what you can see. FOV is virtually identical, but in 3PP you have a free floating camera above you head allowing you to see AROUND and OVER objects. Let's say you are prone on top of the firehouse, or any building with a ledge. In 3PP you can move your camera and see if someone is heading towards you to try and enter the building and get to you without ever exposing yourself to danger. Now you're fully prepared to blast him when he comes up the ladder by getting information you can't get in a 1PP server. Now if you are playing in 1PP and are prone...can't do this. That guy you shot at...is he coming for you? Did he take cover? You won't know unless you get up and look. Peaking around and over walls, things of this nature aren't possible in 1PP servers unless you expose yourself. That adds to the inherent danger and atmosphere of the game and that's how I like it. Nothing better that coming around a corner and having two players scare the bejesus out of each other. Hopefully there's no itchy trigger fingers ;) I personally prefer 1PP but will never bag on people that prefer 3PP. That's your choice and I have my preferred server to play on. But just know that it DOES provide an advantage.
