Why is der a F****** hide body function!?!?!
Admiral_69 replied to Fre4krider's topic in General Discussion
Drag bodies for the win. And allow people to tie ropes to things. And then pull the body behind the car. ... Profit! -
I got this when I was shot off a ladder when I hit the ground. Then I got my leg is extremely painful. It is probably a sprain.

Hey folks, not sure if this has been discussed very much, but the NE near the new town is starting to look very attractive in Experimental. I was up in there last night, and there is a massive development underway just west of Svet. Talking Firesatation, Apartments, etc. The buildings still need leveling with the ground, but loot does spawn there. Anyways, thought you might want to hit that up if your down with Experimental. Oh, and one more thing, there is a spawn point in Svet, so its real easy to get all your money's worth.

Yeah, last night I went on a rampage on the Toronto Server. But random guy salined and splinted me when my rampage went off the rails. This is one of four servers on my favourite list.

Interview with Dean Hall in the latest PC Gamer (summerized)
Admiral_69 replied to TEST_SUBJECT_83's topic in General Discussion
Being a biomedical engineer in the pharma industry (and ironically working right now at a vaccine manufacturer), it simply impossible for some random survivor to do anti-viral lab research in a post apocalyptic scenario. This is the silliest idea I have ever heard. I mean wow, how many viral diseases exist without vaccines right now. If you in your improvised lab in a backwater country like Chenarus can create a vaccine, why couldn't the world, with all of the premier research scientists and facilities, find this same cure? You need: 1 - identify the causative agent. Is this similar to an existing pathogen, or a brand new one? How would a layperson know the difference? How would you separate this from the tissue sample? I mean, it took two YEARS to separate and ID the AIDS virus. 2a - a dead virus or part of one. How do you know it is dead but still immunogenic? Where is your source material? 2b - weakened virus / bacteria - again, you need an infected animal, or tissue sample. You then weaken the virus by some method (for rabies it was drying the dead rabbits). But you better be careful, because these vaccines can spontaneously become full strength (see vaccine derived polio) 3 - some means to separate the immunogenic (creates immune response) substance from the source material on a sufficent scale. Why, because injecting yourself with raw meat is a really bad idea. And having too little makes the immune response too small. 4 - most importantly, you have to make sure the finished product is sterile because injecting bacteria into your bodies is a very bad idea. And you need to keep it refrigerated, because it will degrade. And maybe you need to add an adjuvent to increase the immune response. And you will need to add a preservative to slow degradation. This is just way past believability. And in my opinion, the biggest drawback will be that you can look up all of the answers on the internet. Which then just makes this an overly complicated, boring fetch task. Better idea: Finding an abandoned proper military base (not the improvised civilian air bases) with Anthrax and various nerve gasses, etc still present. That is realistic. The challenge there is extracting it from storage without releasing it. -
"Realism" and a fine line between fun and it being too much.
Admiral_69 replied to Nibashe's topic in General Discussion
I think part of the challenge with realism and authentic is that, unlike in real life, you do not feel what your character feels, AND you cannot improvise like you can in real life. Easy example. In real life I eat until I am full. If I over eat, I can FEEL it and then choose not to do strenuous activity. In game, I eat / drink until my stomache is stuffed. I did that and then puked because I drank too much after they added the green bars. Now I drink a bit, and then check my inventory to see if the hydration bar is green. Again, this is an approximation of real life. Another example Rain: IRL - you bring a rain coat with you or you can improvise one from a garbage bag / other waterproof material. You wear this over your clothes. In Game - you have to carry a rain coat in your backpack, which then replaces your shirt. Another example - Can openers IRL - Smash the top of the can against something hard. OR as mentioned in another post, you can scrap the lid off by pushing it back and forth on a rough hard surface (like a road). If you spill some on the ground, you can still eat it. In game: you starve. Broken leg is a good example of authenticity while maintaining the fun of the game. Hopefully they add some way to improvise a crutch from a forest with no tools (so you can walk while looking for the mhine / splint) -
Just died of heart attack, incredibly stupid
Admiral_69 replied to schofie1d's topic in General Discussion
Did a bit of research. You died of shock. It sounds like what happened in game is "Cardiogenic shock". This is what most people technically die of when we say someone 'died' of a heart attack: From the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute: Cardiogenic (kar-dee-oh-JE-nik) shock is a condition in which a suddenly weakened heart isn't able to pump enough blood to meet the body's needs. The condition is a medical emergency and is fatal if not treated right away. The most common cause of cardiogenic shock is damage to the heart muscle from a severe heart attack. However, not everyone who has a heart attack has cardiogenic shock. In fact, on average, only about 7 percent of people who have heart attacks develop the condition. If cardiogenic shock does occur, it's very dangerous. When people die from heart attacks in hospitals, cardiogenic shock is the most common cause of death. What Is Shock? The medical term "shock" refers to a state in which not enough blood and oxygen reach important organs in the body, such as the brain and kidneys. Shock causes very low blood pressure and may be life threatening. Shock can have many causes. Cardiogenic shock is only one type of shock. Other types of shock include hypovolemic (hy-po-vo-LEE-mik) shock and vasodilatory (VAZ-oh-DILE-ah-tor-e) shock. Hypovolemic shock is a condition in which the heart can’t pump enough blood to the body because of severe blood loss. In vasodilatory shock, the blood vessels suddenly relax. When the blood vessels are too relaxed, blood pressure drops and blood flow becomes very low. Without enough blood pressure, blood and oxygen don’t reach the body’s organs. A bacterial infection in the bloodstream, a severe allergic reaction, or damage to the nervous system (brain and nerves) may cause vasodilatory shock. When a person is in shock (from any cause), not enough blood and oxygen are reaching the body's organs. If shock lasts more than a few minutes, the lack of oxygen starts to damage the body’s organs. If shock isn't treated quickly, it can cause permanent organ damage or death. Some of the signs and symptoms of shock include: Confusion or lack of alertnessLoss of consciousnessA sudden and ongoing rapid heartbeatSweatingPale skinA weak pulseRapid breathingDecreased or no urine outputCool hands and feetIf you think that you or someone else is in shock, call 9–1–1 right away for emergency treatment. Prompt medical care can save your life and prevent or limit damage to your body’s organs. Outlook In the past, almost no one survived cardiogenic shock. Now, about half of the people who go into cardiogenic shock survive. This is because of prompt recognition of symptoms and improved treatments, such as medicines and devices. These treatments can restore blood flow to the heart and help the heart pump better. In some cases, devices that take over the pumping function of the heart are used. Implanting these devices requires major surgery. -

Admiral_69 replied to schofie1d's topic in General Discussion
I had assumed that the heart attacks would be caused by using multiple epi_pens on someone. Sounds like an entertaining way to kill someone or suicide. Random heart attacks actually make zero sense in a survival game. It makes as much sense as brain aneurysms. -
Yes, the should be in the game... BUT restricted to first person, and with a restricted field of view... Just like in real life.

I bought SSD disk as Dean rocket recommended, but

To the man on a laptop. Check your power settings. I had mine on Power Saver and game played terrible. Changed to High Performance. Big improvement. -
Thread too long. Didn't read all of it. But here is a thought: People complaining about broken legs are right. You should be given the ability to respawn once your leg is broken. Why? Well, let's take away the ability to respawn when you are unconcious and see what happens. There you are, starring at a black screen, wondering if you are ever going to wake up. The only way to get better is sit there starring at a screen waiting... Kinda like when your leg is broken... Starring at your screen waiting...

Ok, so I did some light research (wikipedia). According to Wikipedia, from the Czech military there should be: Pistols: CZ 75 - 9mm pistol, made in Czech since 1975. Submachine Guns: Skorpion - Multiple variants available, including 9mm CZ Scorpion Evo 3 A1 - 9mm HK MP5 - 9m - no picture needed Sa vz. 23 - 9mm, 7.62x25mm Tokarev - Heavily inspired the design of the Uzi Shotguns: Winchester 1200 / 1300 Assault Rifles: vz. 58 (Looks like an AK, but it functions differently) - no picture needed CZ 805 BREN - 5.56 Rifles: Dragunov - No additional information needed Sako TRG .260 / .308 / .300 /.338 CZ 700 - 7.62 x 51mm CZ 550 - resembles Mauser 98, .308 Recoilless Rifle: Carl Gustav 84mm recoilles rifle: Machine Guns: Mk 48 M60 Special Note: IF you believe that the unit currently in Afganistan was recalled, you could justify the M4A3 and Glock pistol Edited to add reference to the Czech arms manufacturer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C4%8Cesk%C3%A1_zbrojovka_Uhersk%C3%BD_Brod Edited again to add the Sa vz.23 -

Ok, here is one I just thought of: Flare Gun More of a illumination device than a weapon, but how awesome would it be to night fight a zombie horde. -

Ok, I am kinda late to the party. One thing I think is missing: WW2 trophy rifles and hand guns. K98, MP40, etc. One could quite easily expect these to be in Chernerus, as the war was fought here. One weapon no one has mentioned: RPG-7 This is a weapon that would have been in Chenerous's military, and hence it is fair game. Yes, it is in a class all by itself. Now, before you start thinking CoD, please remember it would be very difficult to carry this weapon with any other weapons. And if you are carrying a spare charge in your backpack and it gets hit... Boom! Next weapon: Improvised Flamethrower Now I am not sure if flamethrowers are still issued to militaries around the worls, so I am recommending a craftable flamethrower. Yes, it replaces your backpack. Next weapon: RG-6 Russian rotary grenade launcher. In game ammo would be restricted to tear gas grenades. Not sure if this is the right launcher, but it looked right. Think of every riot you have ever seen. The cops always bust out the tear gas launchers. What does the Zompocalypse look like at first... A riot. The Chenerussian cops would have used this for sure. -
After Joining Three Full 64/64 Man Servers I was Shocked To Find
Admiral_69 replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
simples. It is a long, slow road to get there, without any guarantees. -
Depends if they missed their first shot. Essentially run in a zig zag pattern down a street trying to look like noob. Usually they give chase and die.

Yay!

100man servers... my biggest fear has been realised.
Admiral_69 replied to Cenobyte's topic in General Discussion
I welcome 100 man servers. Even higher I say! As long as the server owner gets to choose how many people can join the server. -
I call mine Harvey. (64 year old movie reference. One more thing off the bucket list)
-
Beans for the Queen reference. Also, scopes be rare. And server hoppers make them even rarer.

Have you killed a combat logger yet?
Admiral_69 replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Well, they should post the changes when you log in. I bet alot of people dont know about the anti-combat log feature. -
Sounds like new mechanics that will need balancing. I am thrilled that zeds no longer cause arterial bleeding on first strike. And if your equipment is "bullet proof" you shouldn't bleed.
-
Guys, this is a balance issue. Items do reduce damage IRL. It is just that items right now have too much HP. It will be lowered hopefully as a part of the beta as opposed to alpha stage.
