It made for a great experience though. I was running along, heading up towards Zeleno when I realized I had no idea what I was seeing around me. It was looking more and more wooded. Finally I came into Vyshnoye. I wish someone had been watching because I probably stared at the sign for a good 3 minutes trying to figure out where I was and why! I think that is the only time I have ever even been to Vyshnoye other than when I had a helicopter accident and had to bike back to the Stary traders in Overpoch.

So are the inaccurate compasses a glitch or a feature? When I logged back in I swear it was working again!

Only one slot. I still use it to double check because there are times when you just get turned around!

I still feel it! I had a glitched compass in Balota yesterday. It listed north as west and I ended up completely lost near Mcta. It was sort of awesome.

I used to head directly inland. Really early on, I decided to make my home Polana. I roam between Polana, Gorka, and Dolina gearing up. HAving a "home" adds a lot. More than a few times I interact with people entering my city. I started the whole home thing in Zelenogorsk but found I rarely met anyone, and when I did they were server hoppers or those running the Path of the Warrior. In both cases, things normally ended in violence. In the Three Valley area you are more likely to meet friendlier players, normally moderately geared or relatively new but not super fresh or beginning players (they don't really think to come to Polana or Dolina). Now though I make a pit stop along the coast, looking for a row boat with all the sweet waterproof gear.

Remember when SKS were the new hotness? I sure do. Now I roll my eyes if they are the only gun I can get!

I dunno, the more gear I get the more paranoid I become. I am no more likely to kill anyone. But there is the issue of other players getting more aggressive towards you the more gear you have.

Lucky! I found my MP133 at a police station in the Three Valley region. If anyone wants to play the banjo while roasting zucchini, fire into the air or message me on steam!

You a Payday fan Deathlove? I think it is conditioning. When I first bought the game in December of last year, I remember my every bad experience involved a Payday mask wearer!

So I took the invite to try the private FOG server this afternoon. Logged into the wrong one, the number 2 server, but got to see something truly incredible. I spawned in at Three Valley's, on the coast. I made my way to the two houses and walked around the back of the tan one to the beach. At the little row boat, I started picking through the raincoats, boonies, and wellies. As I am putting some on, a player comes running up in a cowboy hat. The following exchange occurred: Cowboy: Hello, I'm new. I just died. You can kill me if you need my stuff. Me: Hi. Yeah, I figured you were new being over here. And no, I am good on killing you. Cowboy: I just got the game last night, this was the first time I died. Me: Oh wow! Thats awesome. This game is incredible. Cowboy: Yeah, I got caught in the rain and I ended up getting killed. So I was about to give him a little advice before moving on when suddenly he cried out. Cowboy: Hey, oh man! From behind me, a player with a splitting axe raced in from behind me. He chopped me once and I immediately started bleeding. Fast. The fade was almost immediate. I started laughing because the cowboy guy was yelling into the mic. Cowboy: What the hell man! What are you doing! Me: *laughing* welcome to DayZ man! Run for it! I ran down the beach a little ways, noticing that the axe guy swung at and struck the cowboy a couple times. I don't know if he finished him, but I collapsed only about 150 feet north of the row boat, with the axe murderer coming out of the tan house's yard to finish me off. If that was the guys second life, he got everything that was DayZ. Meet a new spawn, chat for a moment, second new spawn with a weapon flies in to ruin the party. Truly a State of the Game moment! In some ways, I wonder whether it was somewhat of a setup. There were four players. The new spawn had torn his shirt off and found a cowboy hat, so he had some of the rudimentary controls down. He also kept his mic up while the attack was happening. Either way, it warmed my heart to be part of something so quintessentially Dayz!

Those payday masks will get you shot almost every time!

I'll be back after supper EST. I ran to my house (or the house Lefty lives at) and found a .357 in the trunk of a car. Looted some ammo, got a cowboy hat. I need to forage for a nice MP133 at one of the nearby police stations. Then I will capture and some local boar to tame...

Fantastic! I can handle the ping! We will see how Lefty Strange does avoiding the half dozen FOG players!

Alright I thought I was in the right server but I am actually only seeing the fog awaits 2. The 1 server isn't on my list.

I plan on attending. Enjoying myself so far and ping is workable!

I will give you advice from a very average Dayz player. I am not terribly accurate. I am not for a second going to use a mosin in cqb. Dayz is all about positioning, not rushing. Scout an area before you approach. Have an exit. I have killed maybe 50ish people. I have been killed twenty or so. Not because I am good, but because I know when to leave! If you take fire and feel at a disadvantage, run for the woods! People are not good at hitting a moving target and they will not be able to catch up!

I'll give your server a shot man! I am sort of sick of hoppers and persistence making looting basically impossible. Ricp: I normally only run into one hopper at a time. Pack hoppers seem rare where I roam!

I'll be honest, I have sped up my gearing process by hiding behind the wall near the west barrack at Vybor after closing the doors on relatively empty servers. Server hoppers show up, I move to the blind side, wait for them to exit shoot them with a shot gun. Like a big lamp, they always come.

I often log out near military bases. That way, when I log in I can check it. I check it before log out as well. It isn't just hoppers who appear. But either way, I would be fair game too. Unless you have a specific conversation with them, you can't know the story of a player. But you can still KOS without guilt because that's a military base!

So I managed to reach NWAF and hunt around a bit. Found lots of 5.45 and 7.62 ammo, an AKM mag, an AK101 and an Ak74. You might see my problem. While great to find the gun, the number of ammo, mag, gun combinations is creating a real problem. I ended up taking the mag and lots of ammo while keeping my m133. Leaving those ak hurt, but they are valueless with a mag. It will be nice if the clean up the mag spawns. If an AKM spawns, spawn mags for it somewhere. If an ak47 spawns, leave mags somewhere nearby. No base is going to have all three weapons for their soldiers. Do AKM Even spawn at bases right now?
