It is an error that was introduced at the last patch. WHen your character sits down to wait out the 30 second timer, for whatever reason he drops the gun on the gound. It remains after he disappears and is freely available for anyone to pick up.

Is there going to be a feature to tagg people as friendly?
PhillyT replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
ISn't half the fun the danger of friendly fire? What do actual soldiers and people do to make sure that they are designated as friendly to their companions? -
Yes, you will have both. But when you left, you left the SKS behind. Someone else entering the place would have found it.
-
Might have been left behind when the player logged out if he had two long arms.
-
You were there for a long time and didn't log in the middle of a gun fight. You are good.

Wear identifiable clothing. Don't be lazy crazy! -
I don't see anything wrong with your question. If you have never been with a person when they log, or haven't seen a video, you really couldn't have known. As far as PVP, yeah, it is a vital part of the game. It makes the game. I just found it funny that you implied that the guy could have taken action that might have made you pause. You were shooting at the guy!

anyone finding pistol red dot sight anymore?
PhillyT replied to commanderbash's topic in General Discussion
How about pistol flashlights? I have found like 6 on one server on two resets. They are everywhere at construction sites and taverns! -
I love the rain effects. I have been seeing rain in Trainwreckers in the East coast area quite a lot lately.
-
It is valid. Nothing really wrong with it, but it does create an unfortunate situation where it only further degrades people's desire to be friendly.

Much rational! Wow! Good Dogge!

Server hopping has gotten worse. (actuall analysis, not a whine thread)
PhillyT replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
You are making some assumptions there. Ghosting has been reduced. A person could, once in a while if on the same server, ghost once in a fire fight. But to say that it hasn't improved doesn't really make sense. I have played quite a lot lately and I haven't had a case of ghosting yet. -

You think it isn't almost entirely solved? That is hilarious. The real issue with combat loggers was that they would vanish in the middle of being shot. Now, there is a risk. 30 seconds is a long time unless you have put yourself in an incredibly safe area and fired enough rounds to discourage people from sprinting to your position to kill you. Ghosting is very difficult unless it is a crazy long fire fight. Logging out and then having to log in a minute or five later to try and ghost is difficult and dangerous. -
How can I report a "mega exploit" privately?

If it is the two long arm log out dup, it is well known. -

CrazyKage, do you have a set of servers you generally play on? I am wondering if you can hunt out another server set to move to where the issue isn't as prevalent. -
I would like to see a super high caliber pistol and rifle round as well. Maybe a winmag or similar round, and perhaps a .500 or .44 magnum.

I am just not seeing this. On Hardcore, I can expect Vybor or Green Mountain to be untouched abotu 75% of the time. Maybe NEAF or Bolata, but it depends on where you are going. -
I love the Blazer. Looks cool, and mid range it is superior. I killed a player who had the drop on me and managed to miss with all of his shots but one at 75m. The Blazer hits exactly where you point it every time and does Mosin damage.

I don't know. I have been playing quite a lot and haven't really had this problem. I have found some depleted servers, but I only play Trainwreckers and Zombz.net, which are both rarely less than 35 players. I am still able to find loot. But I know there are some servers that appear strangely depleted. I don't think things are worse, but what may be happening is that it appears worse, given the change in loot spawns. -
Loot vs. server hoppers = main problem in DayZ-SA
PhillyT replied to timedance's topic in General Discussion
I generally hit the inland COnstruction site then Polana and Dolina. They do get hit often by new spawn, but you will often find enough stuff, plus water, and by the time you wrap up that loop, often times the servers will reset and you can make a grab. There are times when loot is tough to find, but I don't really server hop at this point. When first starting the game, it seems like the only way to play, but with death and resets so common, it is easier and more fun to make due and just play. To me anyway. -
I love my orange one with black cowboy hat, yellow gloves and work boots, colt, and b29. Look like a cowboy working the range!

Weird and stupid interactions in Berezino on Zombz.net last night.
PhillyT posted a topic in General Discussion
So some oddities last night on Zombz in the Berezino area. Some admin apparently was loot farming since the server was resetting at random intervals, but generally every 20 - 30 minutes. This created no end of problems. My fully geared character of a week was reset in Mcta, causing me to respawn near the construction yard in Berezino. I arrived at the construction site, spoke with a nice guy on level two and moved up towards the hospital. I got a nice cowboy hat, green raincoat, and a splitting axe, then a mosin and a bayonet but no ammo. After leaving , I met a player right outside. I cheerfully greeted him and he said "Oh god!" and ran around the building toward the water fountain behind the cafe. I called to him "Buddy you are okay, I won't do anything to you." I looked around Tank Square for a little bit then hit the grocery store. As I was in the store, the same player came around the corner and again freaked out and said "Hello! Oh god, of jesus!" and ran off. I tried to calm him down again but just had to laugh. I cruised down the road towards the seond grocery store and made my way in, sudden M4 shots rang out. I was struck twice and managed to turn and talk, yelling "Hey man, come on! Why shoot me?" He of course finished me off. I respawned in Kamashovo and began my long run north to Dolina. I met a couple nice guys, drank from the fountain, and headed out. Meanwhile my buddy, full geared like I had been prior to the reset, trucked into Berezino to see if he could find the guy who killed me. He found him near the school, along with a second player who opened fire on him with an SKS. He took cover in the two store metal structure near the school and killed the SKS player as the idiot climbed down the ladder (why would you climb a ladder during a fire fight)? He shot the person who killed me and retrieved the Mosin I had carried. We meet up at the construction site near Polana where I found a B29 and Magnum. We raided Polana and logged out for the night. This morning we hit Polana and the construction site again and discovered a truly baffling player. It is a situation that makes me confused and really ratchets up the stupid meter. So we are in Tank Square in Berezino. I have my M4 on my back (I hate to admit it, but we did the log out dup on his M4 to replace the one my player had lost when he was reset - it wasn't a cheat, just a replacement) and my B29 in hand. We were in the building with the cash registers opposite the statue. I step out an there is a player in a tactical shirt, with a fire axe and mountain pack standing there. I say "Hello buddy." He turns with his axe out and moves towards me. I say "Whoa buddy, just back up and put the axe away, we won't hurt you." My buddy comes out and says the same to him. I am on one side and my friend is on the other. We both have guns on him and are about 30 feet away. He trots around the statue, where we lose sight of him for a moment. As we come around, still on either side of him, he puts his axe away and tries to draw his Mosin. I ask you, if you have two friendly players with weapons on you, telling you to stay calm and put away the axe, why would you try to draw about the worst close quarter gun in the game? I dumped two B29 shots into him and my friend put a burst through. He collapsed. Both of us chastised him for his sheer stupidity. Looking on his person, he had plenty of decent gear from at least five or six hours to exploration. What a complete waste. He had no chance with that Mosin, heck he would have done better to rush us with his axe! Berezino, home of stupid bandits, scared new spawn, and confused would be explorers. What a fantastic game we have! -

Oh, and the character still has the second weapon when they return. So they have the gun, and they left a copy of the gun, so it is a form of dupping. -

It isn't REALLY a dup. IF you have two long arms, one in hand and one on your shoulder, when you log out, the gun in hand will fall to the ground while the character waits out the 30 second timer before vanishing. You can go over and pick up the weapon at any point after it hits the ground, even after the 30 seconds are up. The night we found it I went to report it but saw it was already reported. We found it out when my buddy logged out inside the aircraft hanger at NWAF trying to get rid of the memory leak lag.
