A few days before the combat log patch was implemented my 30+ hr char wiped due to an asshole admin kicking me repeatedly (kept logging back in as I had a box with important stuff on the ground, just wanted to pick it up). Anyway, welcome to the coast, I spawn in the burbs of Elektro. Make my way to the firehouse, find an axe and some other stuff, climb down the tower when I pass another guy on the ground floor. He has a fire extinguisher in his hands and is charging at me. I draw my axe, he promptly stops, puts the thing away and waves towards me. I wave back, he goes up the tower, I proceed south-west. Over the next 10 minutes we bump into each other quite a few times in Elektro, there is no issue, we just peacefully race to the next building to loot whatever we can before the other. We make it to the west end (with the school), I decide to go for the power lines and then head towards Cherno. As I look back, sure there's the guy running after me, I notice he has a splitting axe now. He keept panting in his mic, and woofing (maybe? hard to tell), no words at all. A few times he thinks he caught up with me, grabs the axe to swing but I guess having 200+ ping was for once on my side. Anyway he loses track of me in the hills (or so I think), I make it to Dubky (NE burb of Cherno), make it into the school, loot the top and floor below that (with the weapon spawns). Sure on my way down I see him going into the middle floor so I promptly get out and go for the other building. I find a Mosin on the top, proceed to load it and head down expecting to find him there. Sure enough he's down there panting, axe drawn. My internet connection drops. *sigh* Anyway moral of the story for me is that many people will behave "nice" as long as you have the upper hand but will become total asses right at the moment they think they have a chance of getting away with it. Even if you let them live before. Like the bambi I encountered about a km inland somwhere in the hills, Gave him a can opener, some food, etc, he came at me with his fists when he thought I was in my inventory. Drew a magnum, asked him wtf he was doing, he apologized, then a minute later tried again. *sigh* Or the guy I encountered on Green Mountain. He said "Friendly", I just waved at him. We went on to clear the Z's (back then there were quite a few lounging around), I put my axe away, proceed to look around while the guy puts his axe in my back. *sigh* I guess anyone could tell you a million of these stories. Never let your guard down and if it smells fishy it is fishy and just kill them.
