To OP, stop running on the coast. This isn't like newborn DayZ SA where you could find M4's in a residential house in Elektro. As soon as you spawn, find the nearest orchard, drop that useless rag and flare, eat enough apples to get you hydrated and energized, then fill your inventory with apples. At that point, head as far inland as you can, the closer to NWAF/Tisy base you get, the better and more common that military loot gets, to the point where you'll find AK's in literally every building you come to.
-
Well, this will be okay. It'll let you explore the map and find areas you havent seen before. It'll allow you to test mods, and all the loot wont be transferred, so no worrying about nubs getting offline loot and transferring to online.

OP, PVP is part of survival. If its the apocalypse, its person vs. everything. If you want a game that involves no PVP and wants you to survive in the wild, go play a PVE Rust server, or go play the scrap heap called The Forest. PVP is a major factor in survival.

The Ammo Box a.k.a 300 round box > only 4 slots inside?
darkrider400 replied to hemmo's topic in General Discussion
If you take some hits from zeds or something, it'll take damage instead of the ammo taking the damage. Unfortunately, it only holds about 120 rounds (200 .22 rounds) of anything. -
So heres the thing. I've seen many people complain recently about how the dev's have temporarily turned off persistence because they need to fix a few technical things, and then theres the people who complain for the sake of complaining (kinda ironic right now, im complaining about the complainers). But my point being, this game, from the time it came out on Steam, to present day, has been EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. There has been a warning on the Steam page since before it was released stating that there would be problems and such, but apparently people either can't read (thats what I'm going with), or they don't choose to read it (how have you not? Its right there when you start the game, too). If the people complaining about how much this game sucks, or they haven't found what they wanted and are begging the dev's to make the item spawn more (contrary to probably everyone else), by buying this game, you agreed to play a game that isn't finished and is being continually worked on. This devs work on the game for a lifestyle, and if you're going ranting off complaining about the shit job they're doing or some other shit, lets see you try and make a game and keep building it when part of the community doesn't like something about the game, you won't last long. Personally, I think the devs have done amazingly well on this game, and they don't deserve the bullshit complaints they get from idiots who bought the game and didn't like it. Rant finished. Oh btw, has anyone found a VSS or UMP-45?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_Alkemade That guy jumped out of a burning Avro Lancaster at 18,000 feet. Only suffered a sprained leg. Was commemorated by the Germans by a certificate testifying it. Was celebrated PoW. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Magee This guy survived a 22,000 foot fall when a section of the right wing of his B-17 was shot off and the plane entered a tailspin. He smashed through the glass roof of a train station (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gare_de_Saint-Nazaire), he suffered 28 shrapnel wounds, several broken bones, severe damage to his nose and eyes, lung and kidney damage, and his right arm was nearly severed. Shit happens, yo.

Oh, well they were in the changelog on the wiki.

When I get out of college, Im going to go to someplace that will have gigabit internet, then I'll say "WHOS LAGGING NOW, BIATCH?!?!" as my ping tops like 5 ms and I'll download updates in less than a second. I'll be able to download my whole steam library of maybe ~500 gigs in less than 20 minutes XD

Everyone plays the game the way they want, so...
darkrider400 replied to NomadZ's topic in General Discussion
If im a new spawn of something, and I come under fire from bandits, I always propose a fist fight championship between me and them. Usually they accept. Sometimes they scream out something in a different language and proceed to shred me to bits with their AK's... -
Possible improvement for third person and fire fights.
darkrider400 replied to Connect3d's topic in Suggestions
I play 3rd person because Im used to it. So far, I play 3rd person games such as GTA, APB: Reloaded, Call of Duty (every now and then, still sucks tho), and Need for Speed, and Ace Combat were all 3rd person experiences for me, so I basically grew up on 3rd person. I do like 1st person DayZ sometimes, if I have friends on. -
DayZ Vehicles (first implementation)
darkrider400 replied to eugenharton's topic in News & Announcements
That post was 5 months old, dont revive an old thread. -
Yeah, as I said before, there is a limit to what you should be able to do. You shouldn't be able to find a Ural, get it in working order, and then slap on like 4 inch thick plating all over it and make it basically a tank. Your perspective is good, a few minor upgrades such as window bars, some cross-bars for strucural integrity, and probably a plow, so zombies wont destroy the engine when you run them over :P
-
Theres a limit, I agree on that. But heres the thing. Vehicles with think metal plates, and their maneuverability, that depends on the vehicle and the metal. We could be talking Urals with multiple-spaced aluminum plates. Lets say 2 plates, 1 welded directly onto the chassis of the car (lets say a door), and another plate spaced 1 inch from the attached aluminum plate. The average weight of the Ural wouldnt increase that much, and its suspension would definitely be capable of taking the load, while still keeping much of its mobility. However, the 1st plate of spaced armor would slow the bullet substantially, not to mention if it hit at an angle (we'll assume that the bullet is hitting perpendicular though) the space between the armor means the slowed bullet has to travel further, lessening its speed and energy even more, and then, it has to pierce the welded plate, and the door itself. The bullet would likely not make it through at this point, due to its energy not being sufficient to pierce. Let me make another point though, the bullets we have in DayZ are not specific AP nor HP, so penetration amount is lower. So heres the thing, not only will the armor be facing non-AP rounds, chances are it'll be facing 9mm pistol, .45 or .380 auto, maybe a shotgun or .22. None of those should be able to pierce a 1/2 inch aluminum plate (the plates aren't that heavy, I work with them all the time) All this is assumed that at some point we can modify vehicles. All of this is also based on current items, not future. Also assuming that the vehicle is a Ural, and that we managed to find one. Again assuming that people will attack on sight. In that case, we'll assume that we haven't already run them over. And we'll assume that they're jealous. And that they're dicks for shooting anyway.

Agreed. Thing is, End Games, whether people like it or not, are impossible to NOT have, no matter how much you try, there will always be an End Game. But like the OP said, MODDING VEHICLES. That needs to be a priority. I would find a Ural or something, and then take doors, hoods, trunk panels, quarter panels, every metal sheet I could find, and slap it on the Ural as armor, and make a plow in the front, wheel guards on the sides, windshield guards, fuel tank armor, etc. The people who made the Origins mod for the DayZ mod had the right idea, Bohemia should take a look at that and see if they can get some ideas.

the problem with dayz: not dank enough
darkrider400 replied to Wookieenoob's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, if anyones ever read the Apocalypse Z series by Manel Loureiro, he takes science and realism and slaps them together. Since zombies are ROTTING flesh, they decay and insects (flies, maggots, decomposers), and animals will eat it, and it took maybe 3-4 years before zombies were basically wiped out by mold and didnt have enough muscle to move and got baked if they were in the sun, frozen if they were in the cold, decayed till nothing if they were in moist areas. It really wouldnt take zombies an awful long time to die. But with DayZ being set only weeks, maybe months after infection, I think there should be more destroyed stuff. Obviously as the outbreak would spread, military and government forces would be fighting to contain it everywhere, so why dont we see tanks and other such vehicles in the cities where they would be most common? And assuming that people couldnt really escape the infection, and assuming that the infection spread super-quick, why isnt there so much more loot? People wouldnt have had the chance to pack up all of their items and leave. -
Okay, so I transferred my dayz game from my laptop to my brothers laptop. I also transferred my profile and profile.vars files to his computer as well. Unfortunately, when I try to start dayz on his computer, it keeps creating a new profile for him, I cant seem to get dayz to use my profile, and I really don't want to start a new character, can somebody please help?
-
Nevermind, character was saved, even with a different name.

Now I cant seem to join a server whatsoever. I'll try to join an experimental server, and my game will Crash to desktop, and then itll restart itself. Anyone else have this problem?

So for the first time in probably 2 months, I go on DayZ. I kept up to date with changelogs and such, so I'm informed. I also have a huge DayZ map pinned on my room wall. So I ended up spawning by the boat north of Berezino. I found a .22 Sporter, a CZ-527 rifle, a Blaze Rifle, 10 shotgun rounds, and tons of assorted civilian clothing. Now I head down to Berezino, and I know that you have to move farther inland to get more stuff, but at this point I was starving (I had only been on for about 10 minutes?). I ended up checking literally EVERY SINGLE BUILDING in Berezino. And guess what. I found ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Not one thing. Every building was completely empty. Anyway, so my rant/problem is the fact that, you get to starving point way too quick. How are we expected to move inland when we can't even make it like a mile up the road without dying of starvation. (I died shortly after leaving Berezino) But I think this issue needs to be adressed because I even managed to meet up with a guy during my last moments and he said he hadnt found anything in two towns (Solnichy(however you spell that), and the western part of Berezino), it was at that point that we both sat down, and shared our last moments together as we died.

Rags, it is the Stable Branch, and i couldnt give two shits about what makes a boat and a ship different, that wasnt the point of the post in the first place. And pilgrim, i never said i wanted to spawn like that, i didnt even mention spawning with gear, i just said they need to take a look at the starvation system and the loot distribution system

As you all know, the new update buffed zeds a lot, to the point where they can hit things behind them and run faster than Usain Bolt. Well, I have now titled the game in my Steam Library as Zombie Boxing Simulator 2K15, please refer to my Steam profile for screenshots of my having a punching kill-streak. http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198044227985/screenshots/?appid=221100

So I was searching for Heli Crashes, and Found one....
darkrider400 replied to darkrider400's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, but heli crashes DO work on persistence servers now. My friend actually found another one by Zelenogorsk, and the only things it had was 7 rounds of 5.56, and 2 berets
