Domination, Subjegation, Manipulation. a Noobs Guide
Window Licker replied to beansy's topic in General Discussion
This is extremely interesting, people build cult's in real life can you successfully manipulate people the same way in DayZ? I know some people are dis-approving of this kind of social experiment is something I'd like to see results of. -
Poll: Are you happy with update news/management?
Window Licker replied to Ugly (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
If I'm looking for information I'll look in the DEV TRACKER or ANNOUNCEMENTS threads located right here on the forums. The experimental servers are experimental expect to see a change log start when they have made changes that they are happy with. Given the general attitude and behavior of the community, if they added something to experimental and found it needed to be disabled/removed so they could tweak it and get it working properly there would be a bloody uproar about it. -

Beans for effort, I have tried similar threads, although slacked in comparison, it was buried under a ton of redundant tread's, the very thread's I was attempting to reduce. -
DayZ Standalone - Bandit Appearance?
Window Licker replied to hoogs's topic in New Player Discussion
"Hello" usually works alright for me Indeed it's a game, but most importantly games are ment to be fun, if they can hear that your afraid of losing your gear/dying they will be more inclined to do it because it means they have power over you (that's two episodes of Dr Phi right there). Rolling with in one way or another can make your experience, even if you die more fun and it's harder to shoot a likable person. Finally if you know your voice will get you shot, STFU and WIGGLE!! @OP no I don't think they should implement clothing to identify "bandits" or "KoSer's" although there is plans in the works for armbands and the like for clan/group identification but it will be optional clothing. -
Caught a whole clan of people cheating(site mods, there's proof).
Window Licker replied to FalloutPrime's topic in General Discussion
Yes there is that, the other consideration is can anyone here actually do anything? I don't know, after a bit of thought the only thing that strikes me is a formal complaint lodged against the twitch channel. -

Window Licker replied to FalloutPrime's topic in General Discussion
Next question is, is there anything being done about this? I don't mind if it takes a little to get it done but I feel there should be some repercussions to their actions as this is clearly a beyond testing, goes against the spirit of the game and letting them off will encourage people to do/spread these kinds of exploits as they know that nothing will be done about it. -

Window Licker replied to FalloutPrime's topic in General Discussion
Yup! that's pretty much how I feel as well, while doing things such as dupeing is part of testing*, duping and entire kit of gear X times over and a hacked mag instead of dumping it somewhere to disappear is a long way past the line there is no excuse for this sort of behavior. *a simple test to see if its still there and not keeping the duped items -

EDITED: Are you happy with CURRENT zombie implementation?
Window Licker replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Damn when it said edited I thought the poll had been edited to include, "not really but I'm confident they'll get there" or "no, but they are better then before" options. -
http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/175596-summary-of-dev-qas-from-streams/ The core team is 16, the new studio acquired is 25 and expanding to 40 so there should be a much faster development moving forward.

And my first thought is every video game of a movie.

We need these. Now. Seriously. Now.
Window Licker replied to Crazy_Spider's topic in General Discussion
Slightly OT but there is no McDonalds or any other fast food outlet in Chernarus at all at least there should be some of those dodgy burger bars around somewhere. It's a 50/50 if they should be powered by new spawns or zombies. -
Yeah I'm a bit 50/50 on it too but for different reasons, the large increase in the dev team has off set any concern that I have about the game being rushed. At the same time that's a significant change to the timeline and from what I've seen about game development over the years there's a decent chance it won't be complete by then resulting in them pushing that "date" back, or releasing an unfinished product. While for us that is of little concern, as we are playing it anyway it really speaks more about BI as a company as to when they decide to stamp the product as finished. Edit: Plus with them being the center of so much attention I think they would be wise to ride the DayZ fame and get another product in development a.s.a.p.
-
I missed the whole rezzed stream and tbh I probably will never watch it but in this lovely post if you scroll down to the first Q&A section Dean said early next year for finished product. So it appears they have decided to speed things along. Q: Full release ETA?A: Finish at end of the year, test it for some months, end of Q1 next year

Server hopping, "matchmaking" and incentives to gear up on a populated server.
Window Licker replied to hefeweizen's topic in General Discussion
I can also think of a few more allod's online, Dragons nest, and those games are free, and by "fee" I mean pay2win. Guild wars is supported by cash shop and expansions, Diablo 3 just released another expansion I don't know if they have a cash shop or what. They all have a method of getting money from players after they have the finished product. Having the game hosted by BI would mean they need a way to get money from us after the game is released, which I think would cause much weeping and gnashing of teeth on the forums. The loot distribution system mentioned on page 1 iirc is pretty much what they are going for if there is only 2 M4's on a server and there is over 300 places for it to spawn that mean's the loot farmers will have to spend forever trying to find it. Also if they rent their own server the guns will be stuck in private so the rest of us who play public will be unaffected by the behavior. After this there is simply item duping to deal with, which I hope they will figure out before they release the final version. -
Summary of dev Q&As from streams
Window Licker replied to LaughingJack (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Wait what?! guess they are crashing the schedule then, after how often games get pushed back, maybe Q2 then? See how it goes but the curse of this is sometimes things don't go as planned and then everyone goes and loses their minds! -
Yeah it was covered at Rezzed, they have plans for the above mentioned stuff in Q2 this year, they also said that they where having a dedicated team for animals so it would be a safe bet that some of the newly acquired staff will be working on that http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/182275-dayz-at-rezzed-2014-dev-sessions-livestream/

EDITED: Are you happy with CURRENT zombie implementation?
Window Licker replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
The current implementation is broken so to speak but it's better then what they had before and while I like it, I'll be happy with zombies once they are FINISHED. -

One Thing Needs To Be Addressed [ROADMAP]
Window Licker replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I would suggest that the recent increased dispersion of treasure has been an indicator, of a system that spread the treasure around the map making server hopping a very difficult thing to do particularly once the melee and improvised weapons get introduced and the gun spawn rate drops thru the floor. Server hopping isn't done by the game, its the individuals that are doing it who are to blame and while I expect the developers to do something about it, I feel it would be best to handle it in a way that the effects of the fix are barely noticeable to players who don't do it. Implementing artificial restrictions right now, such as private hive's and random teleportation would only hinder future efforts to create an unobtrusive yet effective system. -
we need to talk about the walkie talkies
Window Licker replied to irl-calibre's topic in General Discussion
Walkie talkies are fairly much useless in this game which is a touch sad, I do wonder why they are so hard to find, as research suggests that dropping a radio while it's on and tuned allows you to talk and the sound comes in the same radius as voice chat from the radio. The other use as someone pointed out is giving one to a person you meet in game to allow com's. -
That was an part of a failed attempt to remove the spam last night, it kept coming so I stopped bumping.
