WARNING: Do not kneel near Zombies.

Bleeding isn't too much of a big deal right now I got shot twice and managed to run for about 5 mins while bleeding until I found something to bandage myself. Yesterday I had 5 infected on me and I had time to axe them to death then stop and bandage myself as well. still I do make a point of being more then healthy and will eat simply because my guy isn't full. -
I just got a new update? But its the same one that was already posted (43.116)

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Window Licker replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
This was posted a couple of days ago it was in response to people complaining about why bino's weren't in the game but I feel it has some relevance to this thread, Remember nothing is set in stone for this game until they have their RC (Release Candidate) and even there I'm sure there will be on going fixes. The spoiler contains is just the first part of the comment. We have prioritized redoing: * Zombie and Animal AI pathfinding/collision * Player controls (mouse acceleration bugs) * Loot Respawn * Zombie Respawn * Desync/lag * Excessive bandwidth utilization (non-guaranteed updates) * Client performance due to need for proxy object occlusion culling/lodding methods needed. Plus much, much more. I'm sure you can agree, the list of things more important than binoculars is rather large right now. Previously on weekends, some of the team have devoted time to pet projects of getting things they really want into the game. Unfortunately any remaining spare time has been spent by the team on the multiplayer desync/lag issues - thus binoculars will remain unused for some time. Over the next month some features are being worked on as part of the focus on survival, many I am looking forward to very much however one thing that bugs me is the berry bushes as they stand right now. Currently in order to get berries all one need's to do is find a berry bush and spam the use key until you have enough or your finger falls off. What I'd like to see is that berry bushes can only be searched 2-5 times after that it would refuse to search them again with something like "you have already taken all the berries" or "there is no more berries on this bush" forcing players to move to multiple bushes and change areas when searching to survive. I have literally filled all of my pockets and a mountain backpack with berries from a single bush in my research. I know this isn't particularly game breaking but with "survival month" starting I thought now would be a good time to bring it up/address it.

I hope not, Berries have saved my life a few times when I've decided to mess about on the coast instead of going inland. The drop rate on them is terrible as well somewhere between 5-10% I'm hoping your right and it's only placeholder, a lot of elements in this game are right now.

WARNING: Do not kneel near Zombies.

I think we should just re-label it as a feature, much less work. Also I got one shot by a flying infected was a little stunned by the ordeal but as I'd been having problems recently keeping blood in my body and bullets out I didn't think too much of it. Screen was full color and I was "healing" at the time. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Window Licker replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I've really got to learn how to type faster.... I'm going to have a think back to before they introduced respawning INFECTED, humm oh yes I didn't give a shit about them because I could loot an entire town without having to deal with them. I could run into any town guns a blazing and it didn't matter, I didn't even keep bandages or any medical supplies on myself aside from morphine, because they where a total waste of space. Then the respawn system came into play I got beaten around, had to think about how I was going to do something because if I messed it up I would be hurting, not dead but defiantly have some punishment for not thinking things through. I don't understand how people are so against a game mechanic that provides a mild challenge. It's not a whoops and dead its a bit of a slap about for being careless, unless you really fuck up big time in which case you deserve to die. Infected are now a threat, instead of a flock of puppies that follow you around while you loot a town. -

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Window Licker replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I forget exactly where and who said it but iirc they are having a team handle the infected pathing and AI as an overhaul when they decide to do it. Unfortunately there is a lot of uneducated guessing going on I will have another rummage and see if I can find who said it when, sometime in the last 2-3 weeks and it was a developer. hit it with an axe and you will be able to casually stroll away. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Window Licker replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I don't quite understand some thing in these threads about the speed of the "Zombies" as they actually infected people and therefore there is no reason for them to move slower then a normal human. They are infected with a variant of rabies that causes them to mindlessly attack any un-infected person they see, the survivors that we play are the percentage of the population that are immune to this variant but that doesn't stop the infected from wanting to chew our faces off. So the only question is this do you run faster when your angry (infected) or when your scared (survivor)? -
Anyone think the hunting/cooking patch might ACTUALLY come out today?
Window Licker replied to Slyguy65's topic in General Discussion
If anything I'd say they are getting over the issues from the last patch, once everything was finally up and running properly I'm hoping they went out for some well deserved beers. I'm guessing they will start pushing things to experimental when they are ready to be tested. -
Post patch poll: Summarising your views on Zombies
Window Licker replied to Lionel Hutz's topic in General Discussion
None of the above but I also did vote they should have more health, the way I see it it has already been stated that they current system is placeholder and I'm fine with that because it is an alpha. I am confident that once the system get's reworked the pathing and detection as well as the ability to break LoS so that you can ditch them behind a building and the like is fixed it will greatly improve the game. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Window Licker replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Experiment part 1 @ NWAF: Got an M4 started shooting running about in the middle of the tarmac, eventually got hit and bleeding, switched to axe, axed the infected, bandaged myself. Experiment part 2: Took my gun and went to a small town, found a single infected, shot it, killed 5-6 respawns of said infected, last shot I fired I moved immediately and did not get aggroed at by the respawn. The sound of fighting even with a melee weapon will still attract other infected in the area, although on a much smaller radius then a gun shot so make every swing count. Still love the new zombie system. -
Excellent ideas
-
Like the berries you need to spend a considerable time harvesting and eating them to get any reasonable benefit.
-
There is no limit to how many time you can pick a single bush which is kinda silly imo, I'm hoping that gets tweaked because you can sit beside a single bush and pick it without having to move/be at risk.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Window Licker replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Well considering this is the official thread here is another two more cents now that I have spent some time messing about with the infected.... The current implementation of the infected is far better then before, I have no idea why or how people are having these "massive issues" with them personally it sound like some people either bought the wrong game or need to rethink their strategies when dealing with certain situations. After my first gloss over this thread I want in game to determine who was doing what right and wrong. Conclusions are as follows: 1. In order to escape the infected put you gun away. Putting your gun away will mean that any time they pause or stop you will be able to gain a few feet, out running the infected is possible. 2. Infected only spawn aggroed to you if your waving a gun about and staying in the same spot. This experiment was done by shooting a few infected and seeing what happens I then tried to run away after shooting them, they deal is this (As previously stated by Dean) and tested to be true. "When you shoot an infected they will respawn with the knowledge of where you where when you last shot and head immediately to that position. However if you kill the infected using a melee or silent weapon they will not spawn aware of your last position". I tested this and after using a gun to kill and attract attention I switched to my fire axe and began killing them, I had one respawn several feet in front of me and it was unaware of my presence (as it was looking a different direction). Did I mention that I love the new zombies? -
Kinda essential if they want the loot respawning system to be balanced!
