If you fill your canteen/bottles from ponds or lakes, use water purification tabs on the container, othewise there is a big chance you'll get sick if you drink from it.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there are currently no shotguns implemented? Just the ammo for it? Reason I am asking is that I find myself picking that stuff up, and I just want to confirm that I dont need it as of yet.

Thanks!

Thanks, thats what I suspected, but my inner pack-rat will throw hissyfits everytime i won't pick those up :) As a sidenote to that, is there a list/post/db slomeplace about what does and does not currently work in SA?

Stop calling people retarded, if you please, its offensive to people that have family members with mental disabilities. Not to mention it's just plain rude.

I see what you did there... :)

Dunno what is true about DayZ SA, but at least for Arma 2 this is what goes: And no matter if it's hardcoded to 2047 or not, 32 bit maxlimit for adresseing memory is 4 gb.

This. There are no über-doods like that in RL, so why would there be a über-zombie, seeing that zombies are just reanimated human corpses

Find an unlooted village with a pub, there is almost always at least a talon bp in the pub (Middle room with the entrance to the loos)

Basic Beginners Information to help you along your travels.
Slite replied to TedZ's topic in New Player Discussion
Are you actually suggesting that beginners head to either Cherno, Elektro or Belota airstrip first thing???? All those places are just ripe with bandits, as a beginner, prio one is, find some water, find some food, find a melee weapon, head inlands! There are a couple of military bases up north that seldom see any people, since most of them seem to be centered around Belota or the other airfields. -
And which part of "Alpha stage" is it that you do not understand?

Best way to lose zombies that are chasing you?
Slite replied to CrocoDan's topic in New Player Discussion
This! Just give'm a bopp over the head. Try to find a firemans axe or splitting axe, those oneshots zomblers! And if you have no weapons, it's still pretty easy to beat them to death. Punch'em a couple of times till they go down, and dont stop puncinhg, you can still whack them while they are tryiing to get up. You can usually take one out with 5 or 6 good punches. -
Clouds are "greyish" during nighttime.

I haven't quite understood the difference between HIVE and non-HIVE servers, can yu or anyone else enlighten me?

This... Bandit alert!

Nope, works fine on my old GTX 560 Ti

30 slot hunting backpacks spawn most often in the military compounds, at least thats where I have found the ones I've had (three of them so far)
-
Yeah, a bullet to the head tends to do just that... kill you. ALWAYS asume that people you meet are Bandits, that way you wont be disapointed, but you can get a positive surprise....

This... When I spawn (for whatever reason), I try to scrounge up the most basic stuff, and then head notrh, hitting waterpumps and ponds as I go. There are lots of places "up north" where you can survive on your own, sneaking into the more obscure military bases to get hitech stuff is usually "safer" north as well. As for other resources, well, I usually dont stockpile food but eat anything I find when I find it. the only cionsumables I carry with me are a couple of canteens. So far, I've managed to get full military gear (fully kitted M4 etc) and so far not a single gank.... But I try to avoid people as a general rule.
