Friendly survivor system (hard-coded 'friendliness')
Sabata (DayZ) replied to Sabata (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Again speaking as faildev, this mod needs less cock suckers. Really, while it's great that the main dev supports your vision of the mod somehow, there are here too many persons whose vision is... so 'scoped' (pun intended). The player loss from a few weeks ago when all the hype started is really noticeable, maybe it's all inside my head only but... -

Friendly survivor system (hard-coded 'friendliness')
Sabata (DayZ) replied to Sabata (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The system only deals friendly to friendly gameplay, for the rest is exactly like dayZ works right now. So a 'friendly enabled' just can't damage other friendlies, a non friendly can damage anyone. -
Friendly survivor system (hard-coded 'friendliness')
Sabata (DayZ) replied to Sabata (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hi there, I like to dedicate my free time to create mods. None of you probably know them and isn't my intention to promote them either. I just mention it to grab some more attention, heh. Sorry for my English, btw, wish it was my first language or my language skills were better at least. I noticed Rocket may want to deal with the KoS (kill on sight) issue, after all. It's good decision IMHO because the mod lost an important part of its appeal. Pretending players deal with this in some organized way is errr how to say it, expecting too much. However my experience tells me that you don't want to fix a leaking pipe with duct tape. Sorry, this is when my arrogant side takes control. I just feel like heartbeats, no gun spawns and other partial solutions won't make a big impact. The KoS loop will find its way and most people won't trust a stranger no matter what. However you'll be wasting your precious time in hit and miss solutions. This is bandit/survivor skins all over again. Please, go for the root of this problem. Some people will want to kill anything on sight, let them do it, don't try to negotiate some sort of deal like 'kill a bit less, don't fuck the game or I'll fuck you too'. Other people will want to survive and cooperate, offer them a solid game mechanism that makes possible complete trust in other random survivors. Are both things possible? Yes, but please forget about the freaking 'realism' for a second. Just add selective friendly fire. Once a player sets its status to "friendly", no damage to other friendly players will be possible. If they want to revert to default FF settings (damage anyone), change their skin again and a cool down timer will prevent them to damage friendlies for some minutes. Yes, it's completely insane, I know, as much as people spawning like magic in a world inside a computer. Wow, a revelation for all the jerks that won't get this. You can't pretend a game world replicates a real like situation perfectly, you have to do meta stuff like this or games will derail as much as this one is doing right now. Let's say there's a skin that allows such function, and it's easy to find. So players that want to cooperate, or just play a traitor's role safely, can do it now. Note that this isn't a suggestion to make happy 'carebears' but just an arbitrary system to give everyone what they want. I feel like I'm wasting my time, but hey, I'd like to see this mod reaching its full potential in a way or another. Don't see positive signs at the moment. -
Make EVERY weapon a lot harder to find.
Sabata (DayZ) replied to killertom3's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
> We're talking more about realism and immersion here And I'm talking about what's going to happen, most of the time. Anything better to do in this mod than busting other players? No. > not everyone is going to shoot an unarmed man which you seem to think. Do you want to bet? ^^ Do you really think people will be unarmed for long time? I predict massive player loss in that case. -

So, let's encourage gold farming tactics as main game mechanic? Even more? -

Sabata (DayZ) replied to killertom3's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No, really no. This is the kind of suggestion that backfires in a way or another. Someone came up with something similar but slightly more clever. Like attaching global murder ratio and loot amount/quality. In the end, it would be a matter of playing more and more hours than others, and once you get some good stuff prepare to mass murder all those poor makarov powered souls. -
Statistics on where people get ganked?
Sabata (DayZ) replied to A Man Named GOB's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Should be easy to figure out. Military loot places are highly camped zones. Novices usually die around big coastal cities. Anyway, if you want to see people stay near/inside barracks. You'll make lots of friends. -
20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection
Sabata (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
NO It will be useless most of the time, doesn't work gameplay wise or adds any realism -
A radical approach to encourage co-op/deter PvP
Sabata (DayZ) replied to jaginun's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Fixed: Most suggestions I see that want to encourage cooperative play are completely game breaking and unrealistic. So here are my own ones, that do nothing to avoid PvP but they are slightly realistic at least. You don't come across a player using cz550, his bullets come across you. -
Remove humanity system(I m a survivor). Bandit/survivor concept "kills" the game
Sabata (DayZ) replied to mikyjax's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
"Yes I think people are less humane who have killed in self defense. If someone told me on a party that someone broke into their house once and they had to kill them with their hands I would be very uncomfortable." So did you backstabbed the victim 20 times? Yes sir, but it was in self defense. -

Remove humanity system(I m a survivor). Bandit/survivor concept "kills" the game
Sabata (DayZ) replied to mikyjax's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Humanity system is indeed, fail prone. Am I less humane because I killed someone in self defense? Regarding realism, ffs, let's assume this is a game and just needs to be made interesting using game rules. You can't replicate reality, just we need ideas that make sense gameplay wise, i.e.: they enhance gameplay without restricting or constraining, or simply telling players how to play. Most anti-KoS proposals just ignore this fact: killing is fun and powerful, people will do it no matter what. Doesn't have to do with realism, not even remotely. -
I'm all for it. It's actually incredible how they manage to avoid you sometimes when you run towards them. It's like their flanking instinct is so powerful that they can't see a direct attack is a win-win situation most of the time.

A Realistic Means of Facilitating Group Play

Some griefers would pay actual money for a feature like this. For the rest sounds fine. It's a tricky matter as most things in this mod. -
Only one authentic way to significantly increase player co-operation
Sabata (DayZ) replied to joikd's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hmm more like: make it nearly impossible to survive -> the few players still around may cooperate because killing each other won't be that fun If there could be some server customization, though, I'd go for it. Not every server has to be like crazy impossible survival. -

Thoughts on bandits, RP, the Sandbox, and non-murder crime.
Sabata (DayZ) replied to Brew78's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Most suggestions go around the player kill issue and I see a flaw in most, if not all of them. Being trigger happy and a dick in a first person shooter is so common and widely spread. Some players may want to cooperate and socialize and your suggestions will help for sure. As soon they are killed a few times by bandits, they will stop trying and the KoS loop will run forever. Isn't like I want to steal the thread but my solution is simple: allow players to set its status as friendly (involves some sort of friendly skin), then they can't hurt other friendlies. If they want to revert it back, a cool down time prevents they can damage anyone immediately. Sounds terrible but nothing else will end the KoS loop. -

Sabata (DayZ) replied to joikd's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I proposed this a few times, but it's quite tricky. It would be challenging for some and impossible for others, taking away many players from the mod. And there still would be a bunch of folks that may shoot to better equipped players, even if they died shortly after, just for the fun of it. Not saying I don't like the idea, I'd like it to be tried at least.
