Good on you for taking out that kos bandit. Most people in this game shoot others for the rush but i can tell you now that killing someone that fired on you unprovoked is the most amazing feeling in this game. To those calling you cheaters because you used teamspeak or some other form of communication, you got no friends to play with and socialise with? Playing dayz all alone? I feel for ya, i realy do but please dont tell others they cant play with their friends just cus you dont have any yourself. I honestly have never heard anything more dumb in my life.

A tip for new players being held up
NinjaTurkey replied to nighhawk's topic in New Player Discussion
This guy speaks sense. Something 90% of the DayZ community lacks. -
So your in electro and want to find an M4? Deathmatching by any chance? ok i dont approve but honestly best way to do it is kill a bandit. Iv never known one to spawn in the firestations. (only in the mod as far as im aware).

regular & hardcore characters
NinjaTurkey replied to belphegor_goatzombie's topic in New Player Discussion
As far am im aware, no. You will have a seperate character. EDIT: Misread, Hardcore and regular will be seperate characters which means your regular should be preserved. -
Nights simply too dark. Like walking on the dark side of the moon.
NinjaTurkey replied to Cydone's topic in General Discussion
When changing brightness and gamma settings is needed to actually play at night. Then night is broken. I love the idea of night but at the moment its dark to the point where i get frustrated cus i cant see that tree in front of me. I know that its more authentic than night in games such as cod. But i think somewhere in between would be an acceptable level. I also think its time a smaller cycle was put in place. Having night follow a 24 hour cycle to the second is a bit much. As it stands at the moment, night is not making people play. Its pushing them away. I believe night should be a huge part of DayZ. So reduce the cycles to 4 - 6 hour cycles. 4- 6 hours day, 4 - 6 hours night. And also make it so all servers are locked to this time. No more daylight 24/7 servers. This means that people will have to play in the dark but not everytime they get home from work which is bloody stupid. Allot of people have jobs and are back late. Why should they be stopped from playing this great game cus a game mechanic stops them? -
They keep your feet warm and its a socially acceptable thing to wear shoes. Barefoot is frowned upon. But seriously, i think they protect your feet or will do when implemented properly. I also think different types allow you to run faster on different surfaces.

Hey guys, wondered if anyone had any ideas here. Im trying to record with dxtory. About a week ago it was fine, besides the usual fps drops in towns that everyone seems to get. But im having a realy odd problem. I hit record and my fps in the wilderness goes from 60 to 40. Ok thats great thats more than enough, but then i look at a town (a smallish town, not even gonna go into the big cities) and my fps goes to around 25 - 30 depending on the size. Ok still thats fine, its doable. But then out of nowhere my fps drops even more down to about 19 - 20 after a few seconds and seems locked at this. When i look away from the town into the wilderness it stays on 19-20. I stop recording and fps jumps back up to 60. I hit record again (while still looking into wilderness) and fps is at 40 like when i first started recording. Question is why is my fps dropping even more after a few seconds and being locked to it?

I am having a similar problem. I get random spikes in my fps. It makes it even worse because im recording too. Towns are utterly horrible. I know this is alpha and its focused on features not optimization but this seems like a game breaker to me. I dont understand why town reduce my fps from aroun 45-60 all the way down to 15-20

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
NinjaTurkey replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
Im sorry but i disagree with this idea. It makes the game too easy and takes away the tension of an encounter. If you dont know someones intentions then talk to them. But make sure your in a position to shoot them if they are hostile. It is indeed a console idea and we (meaning the gaming community and companies) need to get away from catering to the masses all the time. Some games it works, because they were built for the masses. But this is DayZ, it was not built for casual folk. So lets not try to change it. This game has been a breath of fresh air from the constant yearly releases. -
Yeah you lost me too... Besides if people wanna play like frankie (your description is nothing like him) then who cares. Atleast he doesnt shoot on site like alot of simple minded folk in this game.

Hey guys, thought id share this with you. Me and my friend started a channel up about 2 months ago. Weve just started recording Dayz and we had an interesting situation that i managed to record. We took hostages! Now this doesnt usualy happen to me as most people kill on site. Im surprised these guys didnt just combat log or shoot us but im glad they didnt because it created an interesting situation. I just want to say thanks to those 3 guys, whoever they are for not being douches and logging. This is what Dayz is all about and im glad i was able to experiance it. So here it is, skip to about 6:15 if you want to just watch the encounter.

We prefer not to shoot on sight but will if provoked. Our videos will just document our interactions with other players. So holding people up, or shooting bandits that kill new spawns and defending ourselves.
-
Forgot to mention, we will be uploading dayz videos atleast once a week. They will be from both mine and my friends pespective. So one week its his perspective. Next week its mine.

No problem :)

Why does every person with a gun shoot on sight?
NinjaTurkey replied to joeymp's topic in General Discussion
If you believe this then your not doing it right. Make sure that in an encounter you are the one in charge, basicaly you can see them but they cant see you. Communicate with them and let them know you wont shoot but do not turn to face you otherwise you will have to shoot. Make sure to disarm them and then you can talk properly, if they wont disarm then tell them to walk in a certain direction untill you cant see them anymore (preferably not into some trees or buildings). Kos is necessary in some situations but if you do it all the time you are depriving yourself of most of the charm of dayz. Do yourself a favour be creative and enjoy the game for what it was meant for, Human interaction. -
Why does every person with a gun shoot on sight?
NinjaTurkey replied to joeymp's topic in General Discussion
I tend not to shoot on site. It does depend on the situation though. If im the one holding the power in an encounter then i wont shoot but will make it clear to them that i will if they try anything. If i get shot at then they are fair game. Yesterday 1 sniper in cherno learned that the hard way. -
Problem with uploading DayZ vids to youtube
NinjaTurkey replied to UNDERWORLD's topic in General Discussion
I have recently started a youtube channel and encounted the same thing. While watching the raw footage back (unedited or rendered footage) my microphone does not show up but everything else works fine. Now im not sure what causes this and im not sure if your voice will be there when you upload ( strongly advice against uploading yet). You need eiditing software. Edit your video ( while editing your voice should be audible). Once you have edidted the video to your liking, render it. Once rendered then upload. Look for guides on how to do this on youtube.
