If you don't like 3rd person just join a 1st person only server. The argument between both has been done to death already so use the search function and read about it elsewhere.

I have not touched DayZ since I done my 24 charity run of it back in October. With the Standalone version being announced I just didn't see any point investing any more time in it, I had constant problems with SIX Launcher and DayZ Commander, so updating was always a hassle. I will come back to the game once it is it's own product and has a single update path. I haven't tried WarZ and I don't intend to either. I have a lot of friends that are going to buy DayZ but they see no point getting ARMA2 and playing the mod when the standalone version is a month or two away.

I had to format my HDD a couple of months ago so decided to take that time as a break and just wait it out, every day that passes now I get closer and closer to just re-installing the mod and getting back in to the game, the only other game holding my attention for longer than a few hours is counter strike. If it is delayed then back to the mod we go for Christmas although the thing I am looking forward to most is having the game as one single entity that can have updates applied to it and I don't have to worry about versions and putting files in the correct places and how the six launcher doesn't work at all for me. Just click once and play it, a dream come true.

Hi, I have been playing DayZ off and on since around april/may time, throughout that time I have played solo, I did try to join a group once but didn't really work anything out as the play times I had were different from the group. I am based in the UK, I have a working mic and headset, I can install whatever voice program is necessary. Sometimes I may be on a voice channel but not talking too much (this means my wife is watching TV) I am getting a little tired of only looking after myself in game and want to work with others and try and help out a team. I am fairly laid back so would prefer to group up with people not taking the game 100% seriously but do still play most nights of the week. I have had most of the good loot in the game at some point or another, I have been a bandit and I have also tried to help as many people as possible. The only thing I have bad luck with is tents, I think I have found 3 in my months of gaming. I have consumed one can of mountain dew in my DayZ lifespan and it tasted worse than coke. If there are any groups or other individuals looking for someone to play with just let me know! Cheers!

I done a 24 hour session on Saturday for charity and in that 24 hours I was killed by a hacker only once and it was on a private hive, so go figure. Broken legs, can't move then drowned in the sea. Best thing to do is get a tent set up somewhere ASAP and stockpile some basics so that when you get killed by a hacker it's not much of a setback.

Hi, I haven't played DayZ for a few months(apart from logging in a couple of weeks ago to set up the game) in anticipation of doing this 24 hour play session for charity. I have never played any game for 24 hours before although I did come close in my younger days. I am going to try and survive for the entire 24 hours but realise that probably won't happen. My basics for survival are going to be, gather up food/drink(probably in zelenogorsk), try to find a tent, run away and lose zombies rather than fighting them and making myself a target. I do intent to head in to cherno/elektro at some point and get some player killing done just for variety. Just to make things harder I have noticed I have a bandit skin as my last play session involved some muderin, so no doubt I will be killed on sight by everyone else. Any other tips for solo survival on a long play session? I won't post the server I am playing on or anything as I don't want it hacked and my fundraising ruined.

Just in case anyone is interested this is how it went down( I played slow and cautiously and also pretty noobish as I hadn't played for months): So I completed my 24 hours of Day Z. I died after 10 hours so did not survive the entire 24 on one life. I died a total of two times plus one suicide right at the end to finish the 24 hours! I am planning to try and play on medium is population servers as much as possible or high but at the same time I don't want to get hacked as I have been reading about that increasing! Getting through the night and reaching the 24 hour mark will be the hardest part I think. I'll be streaming it all live to prove I can do it too, or prove that I can't haha

Hi, I played DayZ from May to July pretty much every day, I then signed up for a charity event in which I will be playing DayZ for 24 hours and trying to stay alive that entire time, I will be donating to charity every time I die. Anyway, I took some time off the game so that I do not hate it by the time this marathon comes around, now I am looking for a stable server to play on. I am based in the EU but East Coast US servers usually had decent ping. The main problem is that so far there seems to be far less servers available than when I stopped playing and almost every one I connect to is a private hive. Is there a problem playing on regular servers? should I look at playing on a private hive server for this event? Any advice on recommended stable servers would be great. Yeah that kind of sucks, I want to announce it as I would like some people to come to kill me or help me survive but I understand that even if I am doing it for charity someone is going to come along and try and ruin it. I can probably get away with just linking to my stream and giving my server info out to people who seems decent.

I just logged in to the game for the first time in 2 weeks (was busy with real life) and my character that had been alive for 7 days previously appears to be gone. I had to start a new character when I joined the game, is this a feature that happens if you don't log in for a while or have I been unlucky?

Steak

The best way to get blood back when you are alone is to kill a cow and make 8 steaks from it, they will replenish 800 blood, so one cow kill and a backpack full of steaks will save your life. I play solo all the time and now that I have a tent I am stocking it with food and soon as many steaks as it can hold so that I have a good supply to replenish my blood as long as I have enough to move to my tent location. You just really need to not screw up playing alone and plan ahead, expect the worst. It is difficult but I like the challenge, I do agree that matches should be a bit easier to come by.

yeah the zombies are not hard, but the way that they move/teleport around, run through solid objects, knock you out with one it, make you bleed with one hit makes no sense. I think the zombies should be HARD but they can't really make them hard until they fix the other issues, sitting in a supermarket and the zombies just walk in through the wall, then through the inner wall, then through the counter, then through the aisles. Once the zombie AI is not broken it will be better.

I spent an hour the other day hunting a cow for steaks, it was only after killing it that I realised I didn't have a knife to gut it although I had every other tool you could imagine!

I have never once been in a PvP scenario in this game where spraying in full auto would do you any good, if you are within range to be sprayed down then you are doing it wrong, sensible bandits won't even give you a chance to spray your fully auto gun anywhere near them.

They do but it's really down to luck whether you find them or not, once you do the wilderness survival game becomes so much easier. Good luck finding them, I usually find them in houses but have gone entire lives without ever finding them anywhere.

I spent about 4 hours the other day up north looking for animals as my health was getting low and I only had one tin of beans, I didn't find any and eventually died. Last night within an hour or two of spawning I had killed a boar, a goat and a cow and had a backpack full of steaks. It is pretty random, I think the hardest part about becoming self sufficient is finding bloody matches!

You are lucky, I love that hunting rifle, I find ammo for it everywhere and in my two months of playing I have only found one actual rifle!

No matter where you spawn it is easy to die, all you need to do now to respawn is run in to the nearest town/farm and let the zombies eat you for a minute and then you have your new spawn point.

This is the kind of teaming up I am looking for too, I am already in a guild/clan for other games but would be up for this, I am on British time what time zone are you?

It may have seemed different at the start and I think if you come in now it would still seem different, there is a lot more communication here than on other games. Things have changed massively in the last couple of months though, with the game apparently getting it's own release and the number of players getting closer and closer to 1 million there is much more media interest and we can't expect Rocket to knock that back in favour of posting here. Everything changes, if people think that this game has already gone the same way as a big budget faceless AAA game then fair enough, there are plenty kickstarter projects that want support.
