DayZ appears a bit broken since last patch
SlickShoes replied to Scourge79's topic in General Discussion
I made it north last night for the first time in the SA and was happy with the gear and food I had horded. Logged in this morning at the beach and just sighed! -
The servers that I played on that were always nighttime were daytime all last night and through to this morning so I have no idea what has changed or if the clocks have been reversed or something.
-
Night is fun, I agree, but when all you see is night it get's tired real quick. I mean I want to be able to see the sun, the colour in the landscape and the countryside. The blood smeared in the empty house etc etc. At night your options are gamma boost grayscale or total darkness with the beam of a torch for friendship(also alerts bandits exactly where you are for an easy murder).
-
The amount of food/drink you have to consume is ridiculous anyway, I ran a marathon(while gaming) back in October and I didn't need to consume as much food as this to stay alive. There is realism and then there is being completely ridiculous.

How can I survive beyond a couple of hours? I have food/drink, bandages, blood, morphine, weapons. I even tried sitting down for half an hour, but I still pass out after a few more minutes of walking/jogging. Why can I hear really loud people chatting? Myself and 3 friends are at way different areas of the map and we can all hear this super loud guy talking all the time. Whats up with eating and drinking? Every time it happens like this: You are THIRSTY You take a drink from Water Bottle Your thirst is quenched Your throat is dry You are thirsty

Played an hour in it this morning before work, world looks nice, hunting for loot is much less tedious.

How long will items I have placed persist?
SlickShoes replied to SlickShoes's topic in New Player Discussion
I am about a 15 minute run from my stashed items but I am working all day so won't find out until tonight if they are still where I left them. They didn't die with my body and I didn't hit respawn. I hid them then ran off and died elsewhere, so somewhere near cherno is that large backpack crammed with items. -
I was dying and I had the most stuff I had ever collected, so I put it all in my giant backpack and stashed it where hopefully no one will find it. How long will this backpack full of loot persist in the world? Can I retrieve it or is it gone for good?

Yeah, that's great but as others have said already we don't hate night time gameplay, we just work during the day so the only time we can play DayZ is when it is Dark. To have the game constantly be night time is as bad as it constantly being day time. The day/night cycle should not just mirror real life, I want to experience the changing environment not log in to total darkness every night. If they are going to have the day/night cycle follow real life then eating/drinking should too, in 1 hour I don't have to eat 3 or 4 times to stay concious.
-
I enjoy the night time gameplay but after a few hours I had to log off and do something else, if this is going to be constantly like this where the only servers with decent ping are dark by the time I get in from work I won't be seeing very much daylight in this game. I don't really understand why the day/night cycle is so realistic yet the food/drink system would require you to eat about 80 times a day to stay alive.
-
Considering you have to eat about 60 or 70 times in 24 hours to stay alive, having the day/night cycle follow real life seems daft to me if the requirement to eat and drink doesn't.
-
I have seen 3 people so far, I have been unarmed and with only a torch, I have been axed to death each time.
-
I enjoyed the feel of the game in the dark but as someone with a full time job, all my low ping servers are dark when I'm not at work, after 3 or 4 hours it got a bit tiresome.

http://www.twitch.tv/agamerlikeyou - Guy claims he is playing Stand Alone pre Alpha offline is he for real? I haven't followed the game as I once did so have no idea if he is trolling or not?

It is a mod for an existing game, the mod has been developed by someone in their spare time, there is no money involved at all. Now that the people that made the mod are working on an actual DayZ game, the mod continues to be updated by members of the community, these people are not paid by any company, they are not game developers, they are people like you and me who choose to WORK on this mod for free in their spare time, they are human, they get things wrong. This will never go to BETA or RELEASE because it isn't a game, it's just a hobby.
