Concept artist here with DayZ on the brain. I was thinking what might happen after a decade or so of things falling apart. I also got to thinking what would happen if the virus advanced like leprosy due to wear-and-tear; Slowly grinding feet and lower legs to stumps at the knees and a similar effect happening to the arms as crawling became more efficient. I call them DogZ because they move on all fours, I call the DogZ because the zombies that advance to this stage still manage to move just as fast a dog and full sprint. I call them DogZ because this is DayZ dammit - No other name would do. :D I hope you like the things you see. Happy hunting all.

I approve of this thread. I would guess that "The Father of all Bombs" the ATBIP a.k.a. Авиационная вакуумная бомба повышенной мощности (АВБПМ) would have been used to cleanse areas after the first breakouts. The craters left behind would have become lakes. Ergo: random watering holes in-game would be possible. :thumbsup:

I won't link them here. But I encourage people who like the creepy side of things to look up images related to this. A warning though, it's the stuff waking nightmares are made of. I'm inspired to smash my brain into this visually, and draw the effects of Nikolayev gas on an unsuspecting countryside. Sketches to follow soon-ish. -Stay sharp out there and keep the safety off eh! ;)

Good story! This definitely somewhere that DayZ SA is doing it right from the start. It FEELS like a little story each time you play. We can recant my trials-and-tribulations each time we play like a good old fireside yarn. :thumbsup:

If you don't bathe, you stink. And if you bathe or swim in your cloths, you could get sick or ruin your weapons and stuff. Rain would effect you too. If you stink, people (and especially wild animals) will know. As an anecdote to this, the VC could supposedly smell US soldiers before they could see them during the Vietnam war. Good hygiene is a lifesaver, and makes you all pretty eh. B)

EDIT: This just got complicated, It would seem that soldiers smelling of shaving cream and toothpaste is a dead give away too. And dogs roll in fesses to cover their scent. Not to mention the smell of death everywhere. Hygiene is important though. Hmm.

I think that high saline content ocean would be yer best bet. And if you live long enough to fill a bathtub with clean water, your king of the world.

Combat logging should be 30 second animation of your character not being able to handle it anymore and going fetal. -

Proximity to the muzzle is the thing here. If we get higher caliber weapons without ear protection, going permanently deaf from burst eardrums is a must. My dad manned bofors in WW2, they didn't use ear protection and his ears bled on many occasions. -
+1 to all bodily functions in game. Done for realism, done for immersion, done discreetly, or done accidentally - while hiding in a bush, trying not to get caught.

Ideas, are ideas. People have them because they get inspired, good ideas get attention, bad ideas don't. Isn't that the whole point of suggestions section in any games forums? And some people like a good argument or shooting ideas down, so this is a great place for forum pvp'ers to practice ther' awsum skillz.

I know pen and paper notes would be abused like crazy. As would a spray can in the hands of most kiddies - But. Assuming that doors will become open -or- close at a server start-up, so you won't know if someones been in there or not; How about letting us put a very simple, neon orange "X" on a door to let us know that it's clear. Then an old, rusty spray can with a limited number of uses would become very, very useful.

Yeah! I see it as an immersion thing. I don't think in a zombie apocalypse everyone would just close the door behind them, en-mass. The door open or closed shouldn't be an indicator of recent activity, that's just silly. The door open/close option could become a 'spray an "X" option' if you have a spray can in your hands.

Is there any way to recognize a hacked box if you find it? I'm just a gamer and no nothing of all this and would like to no how to avoid it. -props.

Cannabis yes, it's a herbalist, crafty kinda thing. Weed would definitely survive the apocalypse, it would be up there with saving loved ones. :P All the hard drugs however, would have all been snorted up or injected years ago.

+1 for black Russian bears. Make a new model if you have to. It would be worth it to add "mauled by a bear" under ways to die. Bear tip: Press Z and stay still eh. :(

Or do... and loose half your screen. Good old head injures, we are talking realism here. So close one eye, now apply that to the game screen (1st or 3rd person doesn't matter, it should/would effect both). It would also be a great reason for eye patches, makeshift or otherwise. And going completely blind... yer screwed. Just a thought. ;)
