    Cash

Hey guys, we have drink vending machines all over the place, right? [Hospitals, etc.] How about allowing them to be broken open, smashing the majority of the cans/snacks and leaving a few, OR hooking the vending machine up to a generator and feeding it cash for a long term snack supply [great for base building]? Edit-forgot to finish writing "hospitals"; also, we could add more vending machines in areas such as Green Mountain to make it more campable if you're carrying dolla dolla bills on your person.

Time spent alive and more stats

Maybe leaving out people killed would be a bad idea as a KoS motivator, but zombies killed would be a good idea. Time spent alive is definitely a great idea, and IMO should be the main aim of the game and displayed in large numbers when you die:YOU SURVIVED 1 DAY, 10 HOURS, TWENTY MINUTES.

    Pistols should spawn w/Magazines {POLL ADDED}

DEFINITELY more guns need to spawn with magazines in them OP, maybe even including some rifles. We should keep the spawn rate of magazines and ammo as is, or even lower it, but pistols should spawn with a full magazine 25% of the time, with a magazine with a random number of bullets or empty 50% of the time and with no magazine 25% of the time, or something along such probability-based lines. It just doesn't make sense how someone would discard a magazine so far away from a pistol, and vice versa.

Use melee and pistol from bike

Uzis and other SMGs are planned, right? They should be useable. Like in the San Andreas photo a page or two back.
  5. Just a little bit of throwback to Soviet farmer culture. The image size may possibly be awkward but you catch my drift brudda, if limbic removal on zombies is ever introduced then these bad boys would make excellent tools of incapactiation

    gas station would distract zombies

So does the gas station respawn on server reset? I thought we weren't having building destruction because that brings with it magical building respawns. A PETROL TANKER VEHICLE on the other hand would be great

Dayz and what it should have been.

Yeah not looking forward to seeing elderly as zeds. Don't raincoats already cover multiple body parts?

Use melee and pistol from bike

So what, "in an apocalypse you would not be doing this"-- why? Are post apocalyptic survivors afraid they'll look silly? Are they lobotomised so that riding a bike and shooting doesn't make sense to them? In your opinion it wasn't a good idea? What's wrong with it? Does it work with the engine? One would think if shooting from cars and helicopters is possible then shooting from bikes would be. Edit: Have any bros thought of using "light" melee weapons on bikeback-- knives or even sickles- and slashing people on your merry way past? An "overbalance" penalty would DEFINITELY be needed, no way you're going to ride a bike one handed while wearing a mountain backpack full of cans of food and gun ammo.

Dayz and what it should have been.

Back on track with the original purpose of the thread, the addition of cosmetics. http://static1.businessinsider.com/image/524203ed6bb3f79e258b4569/heartwarming-video-follows-retired-russian-farmer-on-his-first-trip-away-from-home--to-new-york-city.jpg http://lizasworld.typepad.com/curiouser/images/2007/05/27/russian_farmer_.jpghttp://nowwearesixty.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/russian-farmer1.jpg Here's what a farmer would be wearing, by the way. Note the headgear. I had a considerable look around. Ushankas, flatcaps and flatcaps. I did find one cowboy hat wearing farmer in Google Images, which turned out to be from Americablog.com. You see, it's the wrong fucking climate for cowboy hats, which are designed to keep your head cool via protection from the sun and air flow. Russia is cold. Czechoslovakia is cold. The sun is welcome. I'm happy to let it go at cowboy hats, but as OP was saying that's where it needs to stop, before we end up with Prada and Vans and snapbacks everywhere "IT WOULD MAKE SENSE FOR THEM TO HAVE HIGHTOPS! EVERYONE IS RICH!" and we need to focus on stuff that actually makes sense in the country the game is set in.

Dayz and what it should have been.

Hybrid MMO? So, not an MMO. Just carrying MMO elements, as I said. Let me use a metaphor. If you give me an electric car I'll say it's an electric car. If you give me a hybrid diesel-electric I'll call it a hybrid diesel-electric, because when you say "hybrid" you instantly make it clear that the two have differences. MMO means Massively-Multiplayer Online Game. DayZ has MMO elements, but is not purely an MMO [in the same way a hybrid car would have some electricity but would not be an electric car]. MMO is defined as a game which can support HUNDREDS of players at once. DayZ can support 40 players per server. Wikipedia says http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massively_multiplayer_online_game "Most MMOGs also share other characteristics that make them different from other multiplayer online games. MMOGs host a large number of players in a single game world, and all of those players can interact with each other at any given time. Popular MMOGs might have thousands of players online at any given time, usually on a company owned servers. Non-MMOGs, such as Battlefield 1942 or Half-Life usually have fewer than 50 players online (per server)" It also isn't on this page of Wikipedia either: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_massively_multiplayer_online_games You can't just quote the game's tagline and not read it. My favourite gem of wisdom: get over yourself man ur a tool to make out like you know best when you clearly dont even know where your pee pee winky is yet....

    76 - Possibilities list

A fair few of these won't work or are already announced, no offence dude but you need to think about

Dayz and what it should have been.

You said "help from devs", implying something had to be created that players can't. You were saying "I know players are meant to do X, but blah blah help from devs" and I made the logical assumption it was something players couldn't make themselves.
  13. Don't try and turn my argument around. You just look plain daft. I accused you of saying the whole show was like the pilot, and you responded to that by doing the exact same thing to me. There's a difference between the pilot episode of a show and 2 out of 4 seasons of a show, which is the amount of time the characters spend worrying about people that might kill them rather than zombies. One of the characters even has 2 incapacitated zombies she carries around with her on chains. Tell me how those zombies are a bigger threat than humans? I was saying DayZ zombies were similar in threat to Walking Dead zombies because of the ability to easily outrun them in the post you quoted when you asked me how zombies weren't a bigger threat, and ignored everything else. I didn't say they were based on The Walking Dead, I said they were similar. And it's not my preconceived notion, fool, it's a reaction to their threat level in the game. I'm basing them off what they were and should remain from the mod. In the mod we had crawlers, hoppers and runners which implied they were vulnerable to body injuries and not magically based

Dayz and what it should have been.

We don't need help from devs to make magical player-interact-no-kill areas. That takes a large African bushknife right to the testicles of realism. Here I am, in say a movie like Zombieland, when suddenly BAM! 80 zombies are running at me! What do I do? Why, obviously run inside the magic safe-zone! Also the point of the game is survival. If you have no-combat areas then you get players just camping there to survive unordinately long amounts of time. The way servers work in this game might be similar to an MMO but it is NOT AN MMO.

    Tricksy zombies

And my point is that the devs do the work and are what you take into account first, not "your concern".
  16. So the pilot is the whole show, yeah?
  17. Please make up your mind; you talked about how zombies should be nerfed, then said they were great, then said they needed to be tougher, then said they needed a nerf. Personally I reckon they should be almost able to go as fast as players without getting tired in future, be attracted to gunshots from far away, and be able to take a few more bullets than players before dying.
  18. No, the major threat of the entire show is other people. How else do you explain characters nonchalantly chatting as zombies slowly move towards them [like that scene in the woods where they sneak out of the prison and see 2 zombies]? Zombies are not enough of a threat in The Walking Dead, and haven't been in DayZ, hence the buff. also you have to realise being hit by the hands and arms of a zombie will not realistically make you have a FIFTY PER CENT CHANCE OF DYING. Zombies are not kung fu artists who can kill in one hit half of the time. The answer to zombie weakness is speed so they can get close enough to attack you in the first place. Zombies being much physically stronger than normal humans is unrealistic, but them having a comparable run speed to people isn't.
  19. bobotype3334

    Tricksy zombies

    It's definitely the devs' concern.

    SINGLE PLAYER :D

Offline mode would be cool. Just you, a quarter of the map, zombies, and starvation.
  21. This isn't the show. This isn't The Walking Dead. This is DayZ. In The Walking Dead, zombies aren't a huge problem. What is the main fear in that show? Other people. In DayZ, what is currently one of the main irritants to players? PvP-- people versus people killing, a la Call Of Duty. Therefore, making zombies have a similar threat level to The Walking Dead zombies is a bad idea, because it encourages PvP to the level that is in the show. My thoughts: When you have no gear on you, you should be able to outrun zombies. A backpack more than half full should slow you down to the point where they can catch you running.

    Tricksy zombies

No, the DayZ world perpetually repeats the time period shortly after the apocalypse- the same Day Z over and over, groundhog-day style. If we made zombie corpses not despawn, there would be huge piles of corpses everywhere which are added to every time the zombies respawn, and the servers would all crash. The real answer is to increase zombie despawn time to about ten minutes to half an hour, but only when the game can handle it [not any time soon]. I'd actually say DayZ zombies are in no way based on Walking Dead zombies and are instead 28 days later zombies. The 28 days later zombies are speedy, as DayZ zombies have been incarnated since the mod. Walking Dead zombies are pathetically slow. Having slow zombies around, as we see in The Walking Dead, makes other people the real threat rather than zombies. Having speedy zombies, like in 28 days, makes the zombies the threat, which is as it should be.

    Nuclear area

I think what really needs to be emphasised here is save all this for mods. If you want it, have it, but it needs to be implemented in mods, not the base game. ARMA 3 wasn't designed with the devs saying "wouldn't it be cool if we had zombies"? So make a mod instead and add content, keeping the unrealistic stuff out of the base game. For everyone talking about the danger of radiation, remember that irradiation in the human body causes cancers; these are generally a long-term threat, as in months to years. You won't lose health "per second." There isn't much point adding radiation to the game simply because it's not an immediate threat. It isn't fucking acid/lava.
