Didn't we also suggest an inactive aircraft carrier with zombies on it off the coast? The S.S. Anne, I think it was. That would definitely be incentive for hopping in a boat to find some military loot somewhere you know you probably won't be expecting to be sniped out [because you'll be able to see if someone else has a boat moored]

So are we gonna be able to light big fires using fuel and petrol? Ones that you can, like, spread across flammable terrain or onto player-built structures, or just turn into bonfires? And maybe use lit pitch torches to combat zombies or as a light source [i know what with zombies feeling no pain fire wouldn't be super effective, but it couldn't hurt as a delayed effects weapon to melt their freaking freckle fart faces]. I don't think we need buildings or trees set on fire [makes no sense as to how they come back], but I would like to make dry grass and small plants burn, burn, burn. USES FOR BIG ENVIRONMENTAL FIRES: -Signalling -PvP defence -Zombie defence -Destruction of built player bases -strategic scaring-game-animals-out-of-the-forest tool -warmth -light -fun

Do you think Zombies should be headshots only?
bobotype3334 replied to Sebidee's topic in Suggestions
For people who want tougher zombies, how about more zombies in body armour [military zombies and riot police zombies] that you have to shoot in the face? Even if the virus made zombies superhuman [say causing perpetual adrenaline and losing the feeling of pain or fear] it's still working with a human body. so yeah, like Chaingunfighter said, 4-5 shots to the torso should do it, or 2 high powered rounds. In body armour, make that 6-9 pistol shots or 4-5 high powered shots, body armour potentially negating shots, so that people go for the head to save time and ammo. Perhaps we could add a sweet spot in the chest, representing the heart, with similar weakness to the head as well. Being hit in the heart would stop a zombie pretty fast, right? -

FUCK'S SAKE NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO For anyone asking for classical "undead" zombies, here's a hint. Slow, headshot-only zombies are literally NO THREAT AT ALL [because you can run right away], and headshot-only zombies at the current speed we have them will be nigh unkillable freaks. On top of that, headshot-kill only zombies make no sense without magic being involved, because what sort of super duper zombie virus makes THE ENTIRE BODY INVULNERABLE BUT LEAVES OUT THE FACE? Zombies should be fast, good hunters, and survive a bit more damage to the body [zombies ignore pain and have no fear, motivated to kill and spread the infection by the virus messing with their mind, thus unless you actually snap the spine or something, a zombie logically should continue to attack as far as they are able; and taking a shot to the kidneys or something will only cause them to bleed out, thus not actually rendering them unable to attack you short term] but their bodies should IN NO WAY BE INVULNERABLE. For people comparing the zombies to pop culture zombies, ALL CLASSICAL ZOMBIES ARE BASED ON MAGIC. DAYZ IS NOT A MAGICAL PLACE FILLED WITH SPARKLY ASS TWILIGHT VAMPIRES AND VOODOO PRIESTS [i would not mind seeing a "voodoo priest" mod though]. Making bodies invulnerable will also make so many fun weapons entirely useless: Shotguns, explosives, bows and crossbows to an extent, machine guns etc. The only way to do zombies is give them strong, but damageable, bodies. Headshots only IS unrealistic and WILL NOT WORK. -
Considering all of the promotional material and advertising and artistic direction, though, zombies are far more the focus of the game than banditry. Banditry is one of the core features of the game, but so is zombies, and they should not be belittled, or else all we really have is [excuse my break of Codwin's Law] a more realistic Call of Duty. Even the beginning of the article you posted: Hot on his heels come the groaning cadavers; I can feel the footfalls of the dozen or more of the beasts chasing him. He turns, fires his own pistol dry, but it’s no use. They’re on him before he can reload, pushing him down again and again, devouring him to the bone. My gun is drawn but I’m panicking, my screen shaking with my avatar’s fear, ears filled with horrified gasps. When he is no more, the zombies calm and begin to drift away. After a long while I crawl forward to take his beans. Zombies aren't just an aspect of the game, they're what makes the game. Along with banditry, of course, but no less than banditry. The mod captured that feeling; the standalone hasn't done so as much yet. You can't say zombies are just an "aspect" of a game called DayZ.

Um something has been said, SOMEWHERE, [yes, I know, citation needed] that the Survivors we play as are immune to the virus for whatever reason, hence their survivor status and why there are so few of them. Anyway, zombies are still going to infect us with other things than the zombie virus in future, because they're dirty yucky creatures. Expect to see dysentery and shit coming as a result of being bitten or scratched or pummeled by the hordes.

My thoughts on it, although it would be a huge hassle, is randomized mapwide spawning. This would decrease KoS "I'm going to go to the coast with my full set of military gear because I know players will be there", as well as forcing players to figure out where the fuck they are without as easy a reference as the ocean to guide them.

Would you stop going on about bloody Green Mountain for three secon-- Hang on, this is kinda cool. I'd suggest we don't get too far ahead of ourselves though, that mic would have to be powered, and as we know, there is currently no electricity in Chernarus+. If electricity is ever added, Green Mountain would make a very good broadcast station; maybe you could play The Sacred War endlessly to piss off any Ukrainians in the server. I would support having a guaranteed zombie horde spawn down there in the basement levels, which could make an otherwise defensible area a zombie-filled death trap, because that way we can keep it a secret like Dwarf Fortress's [spoiler ALERT] area and new players will never know what hit them. "The monster of Green Mountain" would best be practically implemented as an elusive monster you only catch glimpses of which can do a spring-cat scare at you in the dark and murder you, with increased frequency as you go deeper, by creeping up on you from outside your field of vision; it screams just before it's about to kill you, doing so by sneaking up from behind, and you can avoid it by sprinting away exactly after you hear the scream, or you will die instantly. Getting to the bottom of Green Mountain without fear of the abomination and making it out alive would give you bragging rights. Probably not gonna happen though, this is a zombie apocalypse game rather than a creepypasta simulator.

Not hugely, I'm for realism as much as you, but it's actually more unrealistic that there would be so many black and green spraypaint cans in the world and no red and blue ones. And what's to stop people painting their weapons an easily identifiable colour if rival bandit gangs develop after the zombie apocalypse? I think it's entirely likely it could happen. As much as I hate to admit it, even seeing shiny gold spraypaint on a gun would not be unrealistic, because it is literally something you can do IRL. But at the moment the last thing we the devs need to be worrying about is more fucking spraypaint. It can wait.

What's to stop people from staying at the coast where pretty much everything they could want is? Just suggesting that parts of the map need to have specific items to encourage players to travel there, all of varying value; these could be kept in special locations that would justify their existence pretty much only there. EXAMPLES: Petrol Tankers-- for when vehicles are introduced, a pretty much endless source of siphonable fuel for players that can maybe even also be driven; hiding at Gvozdno, just coming into the map near Grozovoy Pass, and innawoods trails near Vyshnoye. Military Museum-Dubrovka: Ex-Soviet uniforms, shashka sabers, and mosin nagants/ammo hiding out here. This should be a nearly exclusive spawn point of the Soviet uniforms and shashkas, apart from the odd civilian home. Prison--Riot gear and possibly tasers, or some other kind of nonlethal device not found in the police stations. I know the prison's been announced, so I won't try and slap a place label on it, but if they put it in, say, Zelenogorsk then like I'm saying you'll see more players making up-map treks. Can Opener Factory at Krasnostav: Not really exclusive but a guaranteed place to find yourself a can opener. Pitchforks: Only at midmap farming country houses, such as Kabanino, Grishno, Stary Sobor etc. Suggestions of map-location-specifc loot welcome.

Map wide loot areas and areas of interest
bobotype3334 replied to bobotype3334's topic in Suggestions
I'm not trying to say though that ALL the loot should be localized to only one area of the map, though, like you should still be able to find can openers or regular weapons wherever, but some not-absolutely-necessary things like special building equipment or sniper rifles or land mines should definitely have dedicated areas as the only areas they spawn. That's another thing: Balota Airfield's military base has got to go as soon as we get bikes. Here's another idea: Add flares, make them restricted to the crashed ship. -
Grishno, Lopatino and Khelm all got Metros, and by gum it put them on the map!

"But Английское определение's still all cracked and broken!" "Sorry, Dean, the OP has spoken." METRORAIIIIL METRORAIIIIIIL METRORAAAAAIIIIIILLLL

Wow you never stop, do you? "the virus they're infected with will fight the maggots" is a huge logical leap, have you got evidence for that? My evidence was pretty much based on the behaviour of zombies ingame but have you got any evidence that the virus will prevent maggots from living in the flesh? There are lots of types of zombification in nature, such as the wasp that lays its eggs in a cockroach, that care about the survival of the host only as far as its ability to spread the virus, and length of life after the virus has been spread is of no concern to a virus. Dissemination is more prevalent and desirable in viruses than long term inhabitation, which is why we have viruses like the Ebola virus. The zombies, therefore, are far more likely to be infected with a virus that wants to spread more than it wants to keep the zombies alive [otherwise the zombies would have more self preservation thought left, such as not continuing to walk towards gunfire]. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/gangrenous I'm calling you a moron because you are being one. Morons are incapable of using Google before saying something doesn't exist, for example.

I would like both players and zombies to be able to tackle you. Shoving should push over a player standing still.

That is honestly one of the worst comments I've ever read on here, ever. Do you seriously think that after your third or fourth taking of human life the brain just suddenly becomes cool with it? Soldiers only become killers after extensive training to the point where they respond directly, without further thought, to the orders of their superiors, and thus can even take another person's life in combat. However there are still so many reports of soldiers on the front line not even shooting their weapons at the enemy when they had them in sight, even when being directly aggressed. Saying "more kills desensitizes you more" is not just a generalization, but pure, unfiltered retardedness.

Chernarus needs a theatre building + other building ideas.

House compounds which are gated and only accessible by helicopter or unlocking of gate: Contain limousines and a decent quantity of food if gate is locked Contain minimal loot if unlocked They would have been the homes of rich ex KGB, pre-outbreak -
You just don't quit/get it, do you? Living creatures have inbuilt mechanisms to stop flies from laying maggots in their skin, such as swatting away a fly on their eyelid. Horses and cows evolved tails for this purpose alone, because having maggots in your body is counterproductive to survival. Zombies are not going to notice flies, as they feel nothing, so they won't swat it away. Living creatures also nurse wounds and scratches they get, which helps prevent the onset of infection. What happens if a zombie gets a cut, genius? Do you think he's going to care? He's going to just keep going, it's going to become gangrenous, and rot will set in; he's not going to find any sort of way to wash it clean and prevent rot because he's a zombie.

I too want to see fenced-off penthouses belonging to ex-KGB who got their position in Chernarus's corrupt government, got the bribes that came with it, and bought themselves bourgeois pads with limousines. Preferably up to the north near Svetlo, where they then created a rich bitch resort area. I've seen another gif from a Mythbusters-type show where a katana couldn't even penetrate a frozen sandwich without snapping. Seriously, that shit is flimsy. Check pages 1-3 to see the Shashka you seek, BigMike.

Ehhh... Having a weapon being that "ultra-rare" seems to make it look like it wouldn't be worth the devs' time anyway. Kudos to some brony or some shit for the photo, this is the kind of people who live in Chernarus: Do these bad dudes look affluent enough to be purchasing themselves a katana? Remember, buying katanas is a hobby almost exclusively done in the West by weapon collectors and neckbeards. Chernarus doesn't even have computers with LCD screens, it's too poor to afford weapon collectors and/or neckbeards. There just would not be a katana around to have. Save it for modding.

That's a fucking great idea, modding should be encouraged as much as possible. The question is, would the gas effect zombies? Bags the rights to Vamonos Zombos Exterminators so I can gas zombies and make meth on the side
-
Flare gun yes, fireworks no. Just loose gunpowder will do. Flare guns and flares should have a spawn of their own, almost exclusively, on the wrecked boat, as a reason for Survivors to head over there looking for shinies, and should also be a bit of a rarer spawn elsewhere on the map. Maybe those airdrop marker coloured smoke flare things could be at air bases.

Those make sense in terms of foreign military intervention either predating the zombie outbreak [ARMA II canon] or foreign military intervention after the zombie outbreak [explained by the whole thing of British/American/assorted UN aircraft crash sites]. However, as far as I'm aware soldiers of most nations aren't allowed to take non-issued weapons with them, so that rules out Deagles coming along with them. https://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20111224123727AAc5omr Basically all military standard issue foreign weapons have an explanation. Otherwise, the only explanation is importation, which apparently doesn't work considering the socioeconomic standing of these here guys. MAYBE there was a group of drug-peddling gangsters going around getting foreign weapons for muggings pre-outbreak, then? But they would still go for something cheaper. Deagles simply can't be fit into this country's background.

Nah bud, not like that. Players will already be wearing a hiking backpack, axe, and [as in the image] a rifle on their back, which is kinda the upper limit for what a human being with an average build can manage there. Fireman's carry and/or dragging is the way to go rather than over-the-shoulder. Can't wait till we get melee KOS, underground, and drag. I'm going to sneak up on an unsuspecting bambi, knock him/her out with my shovel, drag them into my seedy basement and feed them rice tied to a chair while I ask them about their life story and cut off their limbs  Edit: Sorry, melee KO's as in knock outs, not as in kill on sight.

Look dude, it's kind of hard to do because you've glommed together a couple things in the vote, but really the problems for me are server reset and falling through walls [second story ones] to your death. While there's always a hope that I've had for a long time that the devs who have the necessary skills are going to just hold off on implementing cosmetic items to give these issues a look in, the most probable thing is that they're going to stick with the roadmap and we may just get our gameplay-improving fixes in late 2014 to early 2015. I'm going to keep bitching until then, though. The really sad thing is all the bullshit on the Suggestions forums=Reddit is taken more seriously than here. Fucking upvotewhoring Reddit. LOOK guise!!!!!! xD IM A GIRL! xDD DID I MENTION I WAS A GURL?! im so RaNdOm LOL LOL xD
