    The Soviet Connection.

If you want to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R., go play it. Don't turn DayZ into it, it's a different game entirely with a realistic aesthetic rather than a dark and visually badass/creepy aesthetic.

    The Soviet Connection.

OP you fail to remember that people can have imported cars, and that [from what I remember from somewhere in the wiki] foreign troops were called in, after the Chernarus Defence Force fell through, to fight the zombies and so probably left a lot of stuff behind in terms of weapons. Skodas and Ladas are confirmed [the Skoda Rapid gets me so damn erect]; the question is, why the fuck would you want a Lada??

    Safe houses!

I just can't see [sorry if this sounds douchey] how the house owners happened to lock the doors to their super duper safehouses all at the same time, while leaving all the good stuff in there, and all 5 of them left fully stocked safehouses to either die out in the open [while having perfectly good food and weapons within the safehouse]. How did they get in and out past the crowd of zombies? If they didn't, and were turned, zombified, just outside, why and how would they lock the door again? And why did they all manage to do it at the same time, deserting their Fortresses of Solitude with fine supplies for the zombie infested areas? If they were planning to leave the safehouse and get out of dodge, they would take the stuff with them and probably not bother locking the door. I like this idea, and boarding makes sense, but if we're going to have that then we need more doors ripped from their hinges.

    Lee Enfiield

Weapon collectors exist everywhere though, it's not a completely unrealistic idea to have the Lee Enfield spawn uncommonly. Seeing as the setting of the standalone is slightly more modern [with the yellow plastic containers, battery torches, motorbike helmets, GPSes etc] it's not entirely unlikely that a couple enthusiasts with Internet access could have made an order via eBay. Maybe a gun shop owner in Chernarus had a crate of them in stock? Seeing as there are no munitions factories, a lot of weapons would have a decent chance of being imported.
  5. Up bup bup no. You also add to that tally zombies who fell off rooves, zombies who fell down stairs, zombies who walked too far with no pain response and just plain snapped a muscle/ligament, zombies who had limbs broken by Survivors in a prior conflict by guns/axes/pipe wrenches and were left to crawl, zombies who may have been zombified after crashing their car and "waking up" zombified in the wreck, hospital patients, and so many more situations. The original mod had crawlers/hoppers as well as walkers which, apart from making it a lot more damn creepy, added to the realism. Zombies are not invincible, yet they too can in popular culture sustain injury and survive. You really don't need to blacklight your post for people to read it. It's the OP, they're going to read it anyway. I can see you going somewhere with survivor death areas; but for the purposes of the game, the people on the server are all the Survivors that exist in the story, and weren't just zombified, therefore there would be no corpses at all except ones too damaged to be zombies- after the zombies get to you, you become one, you don't stay lying on the ground. So loot on zombies would make more sense than "death zones". Crawlers and hoppers partially explain this situation, and are a good idea- "there are no corpses because all bodies become zombies, and even people whose legs were broken when attacked still crawl around". With the shopping centre thing, there are supermarkets and they've already been mostly raided as you are presumably a few dayz into the apocalypse [otherwise scavenging would be too easy if DayZ was set at the exact outbreak and barely be a gameplay concern]. We have compasses and maps? Are you talking about condition of them, or asking for them to be added?
  6. If people are going to make racist remarks in graffiti, there are some good options: Make the graffiti, rather than being a "free draw" thing, actually place decals in text, where you enter text into a box which has a "Nigger"/"Nigga"/"Wog"/Gook" etc. filter for the meaner naughty naughty words, it prevents you from entering it. Also there are other kinds of decals you can place, like directional arrows and smileys and biohazards and stuff. This would save devs having to make a whole "drawing on surfaces" system. To be honest I think prudishness in terms of racial slurs needs to come to an end-- if someone writes "fuck niggers" on a wall, then wow, you're a hero mate, good for you, such clever, wow. But seeing as people who are going to be racist are going to do it with whatever is available [such as voice chat or their name], just like the same as KoS- there will always be some of those people, not everyone-- then it seems a bit silly to deny all players the right to use a feature just in case. And the way you use a word in today's society changes all the time, as you have some people using racially offensive slurs in a friendly manner to each other. It's a matter of how you use the word- as Shakespeare wrote Also OP the spray can mace is a great idea. Although I'm not sure if it's entirely possible, I would like to put forward the idea of propellant-filled spray cans also being explosive, and a crafting ingredient in jerry-rigged bombs.

Big prison and mine, Snow area

I'd still like a snow zone to the north, or even a rare "snowy weather" thing which comes up on servers sometimes as a weather pattern and plummets halves of the map into a wintery blizzard wonderland! It's not too far fetched and would add so much to the game in terms of interest, aesthetics, and added player vs Enironment SHTF gameplay

Remove the ruining of objects from falling

I've been on the forums since late January and already accrued 149 posts, and I'm not a mod [something that would imply a lot more posting]. It doesn't take that long to get a large amount of posts on here if you do it frequently. Meanwhile I've been playing TF2 frequently since December 2012 and only got 400 hours in that, so compared to his time played, I don't think it's a matter of "only" 120 hours. Obviously I can read. You, on the other hand, can't read between the lines.

    Pls no magic zombies Rocket

I've read, somewhere, a while ago, that Rocket plans to implement special variants of zombies, including one that can only be damaged by shots to the head. PLEASE ROCKET FOR CRYING OUT LOUD PLEASE DON'T MAKE MAGICAL ZOMBIES THAT TAKE ONLY HEAD DAMAGE AND ARE MAGICALLY IMPERVIOUS TO BODY BULLETS WHILE NOT HAVING ENOUGH ANTI-BULLET MAGIC TO COVER THEIR VULNERABLE HEAD. I have a much better idea: Make most military zombies and all police riot squad zombies be wearing bulletproof vests, never taken off when the original wearers were zombified. This gives you a whole class of less-vulnerable tough zombies for a sensible reason. Also, please allow them to move and tackle slightly faster than the player can run while carrying a backpack with anything in it or an item in the hands [but a little further into the future, when we have vehicles]. Please and thank you for not making zombies magical.
  10. Freudian slip there m8 ;) The best way to ever tackle this would be a simple "I need to go" textline a time after eating/drinking, about twice a day, making the player squat if fed, and males stand to urinate while females re-use the squat animation. Failing to follow the "I need to go" line soils your clothing, dropping your hygiene by a great amount and increasing your attractiveness to zombies. Urine and feces have no part in the game and are not shown except urine can be collected in a bottle, which players can then use to taint food and leave it out as a booby trap, or drink for 5 minutes of thirst alleviation, but no actual fixing of the thirst. As for nudity, lower body underwear should be irremovable and offer no protection from hypothermia, and complete nudity should leave the player with no inventory slots and cause occasional foot injuries. {Edit: Make that 15 minutes for drinking of urine's thirst reduction, thanks Wikipedia}

    Suggestion: Partially blind server populations

Maybe only the ingame player list should be hidden? Although that is a fair hindrance to players. Reality aside, not having a player tally to know, for instance, if you're on the same server as your friends still would be an annoyance. You also while in-server would not know if you were wasting your time on that particular server due to it being empty.

    Obviously he hasn't
  13. bobotype3334

    Combat loggers.

Yeah it's a funny idea but forcing players to wear a costume, because they teleport through parallel universes too much, is an acknowledgement of this parallel universe jumping ingame and thus an immersion breaker.
  14. Too far, you should have said no-PVE only. The game needs PVE to actually be a zombie apocalypse game. However, PvP and banditry is indeed one of the defining features of the game, and shouldn't have an arbitrary "off" switch.

    Duct tape holster

Sounds cool. It would have to deteriorate faster though
  16. Dear OP, having the player still being able to see and perceive their killer after they die will make the game insinuate that there's life after death and this will infuriate the atheist community. We don't want that do we? Seriously though, it's an immersion killer, as well as ultimately removing the idea of stealthily killing players one by one. It isn't needed. If you know that you died from multiple bullets to the torso, great! If you don't, no loss!

Abandoned Nuclear Power Plant and a Golf Course.

We already have large industrial complexes as it is. Also, to OP: The golf idea is silly unless we ever see an unfairly-rich area of the map where rich ex-KGB keep their limousines and holiday homes [i would like to see this happen to Guba]. Otherwise it's unnecessary and does not fit a poor, primarily farming ex-Soviet region. From my "extensive research" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czechoslovakia#Sports the most likely recreational activity areas would be a football stadium [football as in soccer], a decrepit ice rink with slushy unkempt ice, or a tennis court [also more of a Richie rich activity, though].

    Bell 206 Jet Ranger

You're an idiot. Just because there's a zombie apocalypse doesn't mean all the vehicles disappear. BZZZZZT! Wrong answer sir. Anything from the mod-which I'm guessing you haven't played-fits the standalone. And when the apocalypse happens, the flying machines don't all go the way of Zac Efron's career. They get flown, some leave Chernarus's borders, and some crash into the ground or are left behind.

    Amur Tiger in dayz?

As for ideas on behaviour of the bear/tiger/wolf: Wolves are roughly comparable in HP to a zombie and run faster. They will flee if there are multiple players [3+] nearby or if there is a gunshot, will stay and observe at a distance [then leave eventually] if there is 1/2 humans and 1/2 wolves, and will attack a lone human if they are in a pack [3+] or the human is grievously injured. They stray a little bit into towns, but mostly occupy the deep forest. YOU CAN'T TRAIN THEM, DON'T BE RETARDED. They can sniff out blood and will hunt injured players from about 1 kilometre away. Each server has approximately 15, 20 maximum. Their aggression is based on weakness of players by size/injury, and they will move away if you get too close and they aren't attacking. They yield a little meat and a grey fur skin pelt on death if you cut them up with a knife/improvised knife/bayonet/axe/improvised axe. They "freeze" in place to minimise server load when no players are around within 2 k.Bears can sustain multiple shots from a gun or rifle, about 14 pistol shots, unless shot cleanly in the neck, upper head or heart by a high-powered rifle or magnum, which can kill in a single hit [thanks Google http://www.fieldandstream.com/answers/hunting/big-game-hunting/big-game-hunting-season-tips/how-many-shots-does-it-take-take-down-]. They can also take 20 hits from any melee weapon to kill. Bears are a little unpredictable-- sometimes they will be aggressive on sight [on a random chance; 1/4 times] because they are hungry, but apart from that they will be docile if you don't venture closer than 40 feet away. They amble around looking bear-like. Gunshots and loud noises can sometimes make them aggressive; they will charge you at high speed and swipe with their big ass claws and bite you. They stick to forests. Their corpse can be cut up with a knife/improvised knife/bayonet/axe/improvised axe to get lots of meat and a dark brown fur bearskin. A server will have about 4 bears, and they "freeze" in place when no players are nearby to minimise server load. The Amur Tiger will be one of a kind, exceptionally elusive north-dwelling creature of the forest and occasionally midmap. It hunts lone players, has a 500m blood scent range radius, and stalks then attacks its prey. It will flee anything but a lone player, and will run far away from any loud noises it hears from as far as two kilometres away. It can take only a little less damage than the Brown Bear, but is faster, and can hide up trees and pounce from them.Due to the difficulty of implementing some of this, it should probably be a luxury game feature much later in the game. It will make PvE woodsman players' lives much more interesting.

    Amur Tiger in dayz?

Brony scum, I know that Chernarus is based on real life locations (such as Czechoslovakia, yes?) but you can't say straight up Chernarus is a fictional country and all we really know within canon is that it's a post-Soviet state. That covers a broad area, including the Russian Far East. I've had the same idea as OP, having the amur tiger as a rare and elusive north-of-the-map-forest predator; but yeah, a brown bear would be more realistic. It would be cool though having the Amur Tiger as a cryptid-type thing which players could have sightings of-- other games have this tradition, like the Sasquatch in GTA San Andreas or Herobrine in Minecraft -- but you can't have everything. Brown bears all the way.

    Boats

Nice. I would say possibly remove the small sailing boat from the equation, but the barge is a cool idea. On top of this should be brought back the original sailing boat from the mod, and maybe a larger version you can actually go inside of. {edit: because in the original version you couldn't go inside the fishing vessel when it was cold and wet, so you would eventually die slowly of hypothermia-type illnesses} Can't wait to hide off the coast on a boat with foodstuffs to survive in a lengthier, more cowardly fashion, or have clans ingame sailing their fleets up and down the coast sniping and being sniped in turn.
  24. bobotype3334

    No Zombies

Are you high? are you seriously, actually high? Go back to CoD. Zombies need to be improved, not outright removed. This is an alpha where things need to be worked on and so we move forward. The alpha is not for major game features to be added and then removed. This singular post is one of the stupidest things I've seen on the forums ever, and a good reason as to why the forums aren't taken as seriously as Reddit AMAs and shit.

    Make DayZ more intense/more thoughtful

I don't think anything will permanently "fix" KoS either. But if players have something to focus on other than just straight up killing each other, there will be permanent, lasting effects simply because it caters to the playstyle of people there for a SHTF zombie apocalypse or a world-is-your-oyster GTAesque experience, and not just Call of Duty mindset players.
