    In today's DayZ, being more worried about the bandits than the pathetic zombies backs up what you say. But seriously, if it's a global epidemic, local conflicts are going to be on hold, seeing as this is a zombie apocalypse. The worry isn't armed factions anymore if the zombies are bad enough for them to be called a "global epidemic". You might as well be arming them anyway.

    I would really like to see this, but there's one thing. These things should all be doable, but not forced as "objectives". As in, no "video game" element to them at all. As you said, no Quest Menu which reminds you of the items you need to repair the power plant, no little arrows at the screen edge to show you the way, no highlighting of objective-related items, NOTHING. And no Achievements for doing these things either, they should be just something you can do. No NPCs please, as well, OP. And no "faction system". These things should all be player created. Objectives and Quests are too videogamey. But you should be able to do a varied range of things ignoring that, things that are persistent until broken. Setting up railway carriagesFixing cars and petrol tankers and bikes and helicopters and boatsGetting the power plant in Elektro running for electric lightsTurning on the lighthouse outside ElektroActivating a radio tower in Cherno using Elektro power, or fuel based generatorsReclaiming a town, castle, factory etc. as a settlementRefueling a plane using petrol tankers to escape Chernarus's borders via the air and "win", ending the game for you and ending your character

    We don't want Left 4 Dead style zombies with retarded powers. However, we do have to take into account the zombies' reanimated nature and the fact they're probably pumped on adrenalin and feeling no pain thanks to the infection, giving them a realistic strength advantage on the player. IRL people packing adrenalin can lift cars to save babies and such, so zombies should be able to do some pretty decent swipes and sustain some injuries that would floor a normal person due to pain response. Also they should be less coordinated than Survivors, but still have a fast sprint.

    No thank you. This would be interesting as a side mechanic, but in no way should be a major gameplay changing feature. Were they there, oxyacetylene torches should be another opening method. For an idea purporting realism, This kicks realism squarely in the balls. Here's a list of reasons why. So that other edit about zombies dropping locked boxes upon death: all zombies are carrying around locked boxes with ammo in them now? Why?Survival in a zombie apocalypse should not be tied to your access to lockpicks.There has just been a zombie apocalypse. Guns are not going to be safely hidden away. There will be people who have died before getting to their gun safes [hence why this idea would be interesting as a limited side addition], but on the whole people would have their guns out so they could, you know, actually use them. Being killed or turned doesn't mean the guns get locked away, it meansLots of houses in this farming country are less likely to have a gun safe dedicated to their Mosin or generic shotgun when they happen to live in a neighbourhood with damn log cabins. Locked boxes are not going to be a common sight, considering most of the doors in the country don't lock.Taking even longer to gear up makes bambis' self defence a lot more prohibitive.Why not just use military zombies and riot police zombies for all your needs in relation to this? Chernarus's military is going to be carrying the majority of their ammo on them so they can shoot zombies, not leaving it in locked boxes, and your average soldier zombie would no doubt still be carrying ammunition and a sidearm on his person even if he dropped his rifle after being turned. Tougher loot-carrying zombies is your answer; no matter what server a serverhopper goes to, he's going to have to fight and kill zombies for the majority of his goodies, which means finding a weapon. And that, my friend, is a much better and more sensible solution than Chernarus having many, many locked boxes which still have the majority of the weapons locked away in them. Meanwhile, spread the weapons over a larger area. You can find a military-grade weapon in far more places than just the airfield, but if you want ammunition your main source is going to be the corpses of military zombies, rather than locked safes.

    See, now with this you're taking a Minecraft faggotry route rather than a realistic and modular route. If someone wants to bury something, they should not need a pen. This is an illogical progression, something that shouldn't be a part of DayZ, making new players not understand why they can't just dig a hole and put something in it. In a realism-based game, one would expect realistic behaviours rather than formulas for something as simple as burying something. However, I do have suggestions too, provided they can be executed in a non-retarded way. Grass/rope/duct tape + rock + sticks = improvised Axe. [player ties rock to sticks as an axe head using the affixing material].

    Yes, strategic deaths are the fastest way to get where you want. And that's retarded as shit, which is why respawn via suicide should take a while so bambis aren't instant teleporting to the coastal location of their choice errytime.

  21. Just 2 simple-ish ideas. There needs to be a "commit suicide" option, allowing the player to kill themselves with a bullet from their weapon or blow from their weapon, or monkey palm to their own face. However, suicide>respawning should not be instant, because that gives players a way to teleport via repeated suicide until they find their preferred spawn. Also, being able to spawn in more places would be good. I was thinking Car Wreck spawn-you've lost some blood in these spawns, and are sitting inside the wrecked car; and Hoarder spawn-you begin play surrounded by empty cans.

    The explanation I give for coastal spawn is you've been dropped off by a full military vessel on the coast, a la World War Z. Wouldn't it be cool if players spawned in towns mapwide though? Then you'd need to learn to navigate. Also assuming that does happen, suicide needs to take a while for the player to actually die, so people don't use it to teleport across the map to their preferred start location via strategic deaths.

    I'd like riot gear to be ingame, but not spawn anywhere in the world except some select police stations, the planned prison [coming soon!], and on Riot Squad Zombies, which would be tougher-tier zombies who were riot police turned while trying to impose order, wearing bulletproof vests and visored helmets. Kill the zombie with a melee to preserve the gear and wear it yourself B) These zombies are resistant to bullets.
