Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557
Canned Muffins replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Love most of these items. I could see the body cleanup being justified if the body turned into a zombie after that time. Biggest issues I see at the current moment that I think could be addressed in the near future are as follows: Desync issues with clients and servers (rubber banding, teleporting, clipping into objects)Bullets hitting invisible walls (This happens with plants and around inclines mostly but its incredible painful to see bullets hit invisible walls and then result in you getting killed.)Player character total wipes to be resolved (it hurts losing a character I put 6 hours into and knowing I lost it not even with a real death)Add a timer to logging out to make people happy. (add animation or unique sound to a person logging out)Fix Zombies being able to ignore solid objects (we all have had one of the rotten bastards ignore a wall and cause us to bleed)Fix sounds for the Rabbit (soda pop noise, zombie yell, ammo shuffling. These rabbits are more frightening than the zombies lol)Fix lighting issues for night time (flashlights shining through walls and how there is no color at night and just how dark night is even after your eyes adjust) I find these to be big issues for the most part and I don't see them being fix easily but I know I share frustration with friends when running into these bugs. Bugs are to be expected and I love to see an update like this hope everything continues smoothly. -
Lately me and a few of my pals have been patrolling the coast looking for player interactions. Our premise and goal is to prevent murderers from killing fresh spawns but also for us to stop new spawns and help them out with food and water. We give out gear and even weapons both melee and firearms. The trick we have found with giving out firearms is to first and most obviously find players who are generally cooperative and non threatening. Then we interact with them and give them a firearm at the end of the interaction with only a single round chambered. So if they do choose to turn on us and harm us they only have a single loaded shot to hit 3-5 of us with. So far we have had very little trouble with these methods and have had many more friendly and productive interactions. Our group continues to grow with both veteran and newer players to the DayZ world.

I find as long as they are generally unarmed or have only what appears to be a melee weapon then when we approach or catch them by surprise they are willing to talk and interact. We do our best to show our intentions are not ones that will result in them dying. We don't make them disarm or get handcuffed and that gives them a sense of security enough so that we can help them. I have run into a very bold person once who was a fresh spawn and who tried to knock me out and who chased me around an urban area. He ignored 3 of my warning to stop chasing and attaempting to hit me. That encounter he said nothing and it resulted in him having a quick trip back to the coast and myself with two less .357 rounds. I wanted to give him food and a weapon yet he choose to be greedy and attempted to get all of my stuff. I find as long as my group sees a person or smaller group first and we are clear and persuasive in showing them that we are no threat then we can diffuse even most armed players.

Not even an attempt to communicate with the numbers advantage on your side. :/

I played on a UK server in the mod where there were not many players on after a given time zone change. The server featured several neat mods such as self blood bagging, more vehicle spawns, and AI hero and bandit squads roaming the various cities. They would engage each other and even zombies. If you fired at hero groups acting as a bandit then they would fight back and if bandit groups saw you they would attack on sight generally. This sort of PVE or at least AI playing was very fun for us as we set up camps and noticed that our camps and vehicles at times were stolen in front of us basically by the AI. So you could still be robbed and killed but the AI in some cases were predictable especially in how they did flybys in helicopters and shot at you. Still we had fun and still played with players on occasion but the survivalist single player was still fun. the option to have this is attractive but if it does not happen or ends up being only a mod in private hives again thats fine.

Sure some sort of tracker system whether it be deaths, zombies killed, players helped, ect would be nice to see every now and again.

We fell into a trap ourselves once and it was because there were only two of us approaching a new spawn. We followed him down the coast from electro to cherno and he noticed us and ran. He was faster and got away (so we thought) then we noticed him again and we offered him food and water seeing as he had no gear of his own. We start talking and giving him food and water then we hear him say "Now!" and two players from behind a bush and tree fully geared shot and killed me and my single partner instantly. We heard them talked briefly and him saying that he was bait.I was impressed that we let our guard down enough to fall into this baited trap but I also was sort of sad because they could have robbed us without killing seeing as we were giving away items. It was our fault for not taking into account our full surroundings and not being more careful. Now were are 3-5 strong on any interaction and we only announce that there are 2 of us. The other 3 are two snipers and one close combat support member.Since then we have been relatively safe and without to much trouble.

Do you dare to give a random a loaded gun?
Canned Muffins replied to skoms's topic in General Discussion
I have given loaded weapons to players typically when they could have attacked me when I was vulnerable say I was eating or drinking and they walked up to me and were non hostile or did not attack me. Just today I was in a town eating and a guy with basic gear and a fire axe entered the same room as me. I called out I was friendly and he backed off and we chatted. I gave him one of my Mosin rifles (I had 2) and gave him a box of ammo. He did not shoot me because he already proved to me that he was not a murderer and he got some gear off me without damaging it or each other in the process. If I find a player is a bit sketchy I may give them a trap rifle or pistol that only has a single round in the mag and if they shoot me and don't kill me in the first shot then they will have a bad day. No one says you can't boobie trap guns if you are unsure of a persons intentions. :)I trust almost everyone until they breach the trust by attacking. Then myself or one of my hidden mates will take care of the threat. -
Third person view removal from SA discussion
Canned Muffins replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
Walking in first person makes me nauseous with how clunky and glitchy it is at the moment. When I am walking long distances it is a must to be in third person first person is for looting urban areas and engaging players. If third person was forced on everyone I would just stop playing and go back to the mod. We will have the separate hives for people who insist on first person but I still want to enjoy the game without a literal headache from walking in first person for 5-10 minutes. I rather be able to switch back and forth in the views but being locked to either one is a deal breaker for me. If the people who prefer first person can fill up and maintain populations on the servers/hives dedicated to them than let them do that I rather play the default DayZ SA that includes 3rd person. I enjoy the realism but forcing views would simply remove the game aspect I still am looking for in this game. Considering the majority of the game will be played with the player jogging or walking on foot I would prefer the 3rd person camera as does the majority of the DayZ community. It is fine to adjust the view so its less of a crutch when engaging players but it wont be removed. It wont be removed because this is still a game and people wont play if they are forced into 1st person with how this game currently handles it. -
Okay, admit it if this was you. Lets laugh together.
