Rocket answers to everyone who complains about 3D view
Canned Muffins replied to gamer222's topic in General Discussion
Veteran players still prefer having both options it is not selling out when the majority of the veteran and newer player base values the power of choice. If choice is mainstream then please make it mainstream because this game should be focused around choices as it was even in the mod. There was and is a reason players enjoy and populate servers that allow both views and that is because it is more appealing to gamers at large. I sort of challenge people to debate against the biggest games in history that were both played competitively and casual that allowed perspective choices. We have had two separate modes since the mod and it should be straight forward in how to go about this. It is basically up to server admins ticking off things they like or dislike. -
I have been thinking of this for a while where you spawn with 6 slots of storage versus the current 4. I say this because currently you spawn with a battery and flashlight and when you combine them you are left with 3 slots. The flashlight is needed now for night time so dropping it for new spawns is ill advised. So with these 3 slots left you have little room for basics like a bandage food, water. You will be able to hold 1 of each of those things but unless you do find better cloths soo you are unable to hold equipment such as a can opener, compass,or canteen/water bottle. My ideal loadout at spawn would be jeans and a 2 slot shirt so I can hold 1 can opener,1 compass,1 flashlight,1 bandage,1 food, 1 drink, and the flashlight.

Persistent item storage, SHTF style buriable tube cache

6 or 8 slots is good that way you can put a 4 slot coat and put a pistol inside that then have a bandage, can opener, spare ammo, or a canteen/rice. I think the stash itself can be limited to the server its placed just like tents were and then put a limit on how many you can have. 1 or 2 of the stashes at most so they are not all over the map. -
Well they will be in the game however to balance them they must require batteries and they must use them and or go through them fast enough where night vision is not used all the time.

I have had about 12 fully geared characters wiped by server issues. Don't stress it and what I have learned to do is not to get attached to gear.

A thing or two about craftable camps
Canned Muffins replied to Otis.Driftwood's topic in Suggestions
There has been talks of digging a hole and creating a stash. I would like a stash to at least be 6 slots so it can hold say a coat with a side arm in it and a bandage and can opener or even an axe. -
A little bit of customisation please.

I personally want a beard and for my classical Hero look which right now consists of White and black stripped shit, blue jeans, and a black or tan cap. I just prefer this cosmetic look over any other and will gear up around it. I only carry a side arm and axe generally on me so I can approach even gear players and show that I am not a large threat to them.I want to spawn with the two slot white and black stripe t-shirt so we have 6 slots to start with rather than just 4. -

This borders another idea of safe areas and I think as long as this commune place is on an island or several off the map then it might work. Problem is people will camp these areas very hard because people are dicks and like killing unarmed bambis. -
new player strategy - pointers needed
Canned Muffins replied to helixA2's topic in New Player Discussion
First spawn you look around and try to identify where you are. This map should help:http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus Next find a well, pond, bottled,or canned beverages to take care of thirst. Find food to eat find storage items like a bag or larger clothing items find a weapon like an axe to deal with zombie. Do all of this while moving inland Do not travel directly on roads jog rather than running places to avoid fatigue when you find enough food and a well eat and drink until you are full and the rest so you can gain the healthy status. Avoid people who appear hostile and don't put yourself in harms way unless you are willing to restart back at the coast. Don't get attacked to gear you will die at some point and if you are alone chances are you will not see that gear again if you die. -
In the future, we should be able to create safezones for people to trade, learn and commune in.

People always try and take over the cities and large areas. How about fortifying a smaller town just a little inland that has a pump and a supermarket and lots of residential buildings. I could see a group of ten players perhaps setting up a camp in a smaller town. -
Less Military. More Apocalyptic. (Clothing)

Fallout has some of the best wasteland outfits I have seen: -
If you deal lots of damage to players with shooting their bodies then you risk ruining their loot more. How did you kill them and how much damage did you do to their corpse and where did you hit them. Where you shoot or hit them is where the damage will be dispersed. Head shots are the best way to ruin the least amount of gear.

I was considering the Katana as a possible weapon but I am really not sure if it will make an appearance as its not really native or fitting for the setting. If it does end up showing up Id say 1-2 hits to the body. It is a slashing weapon but it can sever limbs. I really hope Zombies and players will take damage like the mod where leg shots make you have to crawl so some of these melee weapons are more useful. I could see using even a pipe wrench if I could disable zombies by hitting there legs 2-3 times and just walk away from them as they crawl.

I think loot has seriously been reduced. I found a server who had just restarted and I went to Polana where I go to the well and get food and equipment and there was far less loot and the town had not been touched at all. I want to say 1/10 the previous loot at least on this area. Virtually no decent cloth items no can openers low food and ammo and the garages were empty too. 2 minutes after restart and there was barely enough loot in this town to keep me and one friend healthy. Before this update I could bring a group of ten people gear them up with basic equipment and clothing/storage bags and get us all fed and ready to move somewhere. Now it really seems like loot is reduced significantly. It has been said that barns spawn items more now but this doesn't explain why a whole town is empty essentially that is a major hub for larger areas right after a restart. Very odd for us to run into this roadblock. I think loot tables were adjusted far more than we have been let on to believe and I know its not simply an influx of more people because directly after restarts you should be able to at least find a decent amount of clothing items and food in a large town. I am curious to see exactly the full extent of this patch because we are seeing more things changed and added/tweaked than was reported. That fine to do just curious as to the changes. Polana has about 6 or so kitchens and I used to be able to leave the town with finding about 6 or so can openers in various states but now I have yet to find one with 10 hours of playtime after the patch on several servers after restart. Miss my can openers :/

I wish I could make the baseball bat a nail bat by tapping some nails and wrapping some barbed wire around it. I would also love for the crow bar to be useful. Why not make the crow bar a 3 hit kill or add a machete that is a 3 hit kill and fairly common so new spawns arn't stuck with the god awful melee weapons we currently have that take 20+ hits to do the job. How it should be I think by release is as follows: Baseball bat 4-5 hit kill Nail bat 4 hit kill Chainsaw 3 seconds on target to kill Crow bar 3 hit kill Fire axe 1 hit kill Pipe wrench 4-5 hit kill Spliting axe 2 hit kill Machete 2-3 hit kill Combat knives 4-5 hit kill rather than the current 20 or so hits lol.

Its not cheating,a crutch, or an exploit when the largest games in the history of gaming have continued to use it and players enjoy it. Star Wars Battlefront,SOCOM,Splinter Cell,Assasins Creed,Unreal Tournament,Grand Theft Auto,Gears of War,Halo(vehicles),Battlefield(vehicles) ,and Call of Duty (vehicles) ect.....all prove your point to be incorrect. It is not cheating it is a play style preference. One that exists in all of those massive titles. Are you saying that this feature thats been included for the past several decades is cheating? If so the community and industry disagree. It comes down to preference and the preference of the majority prefers having the option of 3rd person. This is proven by the server population in both Arma and DayZ. Immersion exists still in 3rd person and thats what you are ignoring. The game is based on survival and players role play in this and perspective is irrelevant to most. The niche community has gotten their hives even got itself labeled hardcore so they can feel good when there servers die and dwindle mere months after full release just like in the mod. People who play this GAME still expect to enjoy their play session and for many myself included 3rd person is needed especially for travel on foot.I would not play Skyrim ,Fable,or Fallout in just one perspective and I as many others will not play DAYZ solely in 1st person. It is not fun nor enjoyable and breaks the majorities immersion. also looting shelves that are above your head is impossible in 1st person currently if you have not noticed yet. So a big part of the game such as looting would be crippled for many as well. The best thing is that we have separate hives so you essentially can control two avatars now. You can have the 3rd person on servers for playing with friends and or goofing around. However if you do want the more intense hardcore experience then by all means you have your second character on the separate hive to use as well. I know I will switch between the two now and again but so far I have logged 150 hours on 3rd person servers and I don't believe I will spend even that amount of a first person server far after release. -
My magnum just makes *klick* - doesnt shoot.

The weapon is ruined. It is a great booby trap to leave for others if you find a ruined one. Leave it in high traffic areas and it fails the moment they need it the most. -
They are M4 scopes but they are ruined so they are useless at that point.

I would hope that both crossbow bolts and arrows for a typical bow would be craftable or very common at hunting stands. As for item slots I hope a quiver is added or simply included when you find combined bundles. Id love a crossbow because it may be a great hero weapon and something to patrol the coast with rather than a normal, loud firearm that screams KOS. lol With a bow on my back or in my back pack maybe I would be more approachable and less threatening to others.

Trading in the street is hazardous and dangerous. Servers don't warn you when they are restarting and they should have a 10 min,5 min,and 1 minute warning.I like the idea of a trade option and you select items.
-
In the mod me and my friend were Hero players but when it came to raiding camps we truly did own our server and destroyed and found almost everyones camp. We had found all the weapons and equipment in the game. Created a trade network for players and sort of a marketplace. Its fun being able to store items away that can still be looted but lets some progress in helpful items and extra gear be saved.

I warned a man that I meant him no harm and was leaving a town but he chased me and was trying to knock me out. I was forced to axe him so I could meet up with my friend and move on. -

Love most of these items. I could see the body cleanup being justified if the body turned into a zombie after that time. Biggest issues I see at the current moment that I think could be addressed in the near future are as follows: Desync issues with clients and servers (rubber banding, teleporting, clipping into objects)Bullets hitting invisible walls (This happens with plants and around inclines mostly but its incredible painful to see bullets hit invisible walls and then result in you getting killed.)Player character total wipes to be resolved (it hurts losing a character I put 6 hours into and knowing I lost it not even with a real death)Add a timer to logging out to make people happy. (add animation or unique sound to a person logging out)Fix Zombies being able to ignore solid objects (we all have had one of the rotten bastards ignore a wall and cause us to bleed)Fix sounds for the Rabbit (soda pop noise, zombie yell, ammo shuffling. These rabbits are more frightening than the zombies lol)Fix lighting issues for night time (flashlights shining through walls and how there is no color at night and just how dark night is even after your eyes adjust) I find these to be big issues for the most part and I don't see them being fix easily but I know I share frustration with friends when running into these bugs. Bugs are to be expected and I love to see an update like this hope everything continues smoothly.
